This is the place for stupid threads. I would love to talk about more serious issues but we have to wait for the soapbox to reopen. I sense a bit of jealousy though as you didn't think of this topic first. Perhaps I could start a thread about how many times I have posted for the day. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I never said that stupid was a priori bad. Why is it people always take observations as judgements? :king: Snow Dog the Domaholic Danterthal (Free the Tree) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> When is "stupid" a good thing? "Stupid" is not an empirical observation in this sense, it is subjective. And as they say,"Opinions are like A-holes, everybody has one and they all stink." I am doubting that people "always" or "never" do anything. That is quite a generalization. Don't dish out what you can't handle in return. Good day, sir.

Up to our elbows in.......... Reminds me of a joke: Which hand did Hitler use to wipe his butt? Neither, he used toilet paper, he wasn't that crazy!

You thinks right So you are the one who watched Maude. I always wondered who it was.

I say toilet paper should be overhand. What does everyone else think? I did leave out not putting it on the dispenser roll at all, which is a third option.

I will grant you that you are a kid, and goobers (gobears) is just being a crochety old guy so ignore him. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> (Laughing like Beavis and Butthead) He said crotchety! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hey Mr. Wilson <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hey Mrs. Wilson

NEWSFLASH!!! The French Government just surrendered to the Salvation Army today!

When faced with adversity, having an optimistic outloook helps you to get through it. Keep your chin up. Try not to focus on the negative aspect too much. This will only bring you down. Part of a healthy body is a healthy mind. Though it is not always easy to think positively in situations like this, surrounding yourself with supportive people helps. I hope all goes well for you.

I was at an ABATE rally a couple years ago and I saw a guy with a Prince Albert. The original thing about this was that he was walking around with a 6" diameter disco ball hanging from it. And yes, he did say it was painful as it was "pretty heavy". I don't know how many of you have seen it, but on an episode of "Jackass" Steve-O(I think it was him) pierced his butt cheeks together. I don't think he kept that piercing though.

I am going to sound like the old guy yelling at people to get off of his lawn. But I find that most eyebrow piercings look like a fishing or industrial accident. I think that people find it attractive on attractive people. But I don't think it can put an unattractive person "over the top" and make them attractive. A truly "hot" person is hot no matter the accesories. In fact, in my definition of hot, a hot person can pull off any look well. Now you kids get off of my lawn

I don't seem to recall you being a part of one <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I am sorry your memory fails you. You really could have burned me on mispelling "intellectual" though. Or misspelling "misspelling". I think I need spell check today,

Woohoo!!!! C'mon Sunday! I really enjoy the intelectual discussions.

Is not gay, only played a gay kid. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I thought he came out when he left Home Improvement, but of course rumors will be rumors. -
Nevermind may not be my favorite of Nirvana's albulms, but to say they "sold out" is crap. They were signed to a major label, the same label Sonic Youth was signed to before them. I don't think they really expected the "Grunge" scene take off as it did. It just goes to show how many people didn't get Kurt Cobain's music. Most of the album is making fun of those people. "don't know what it means when I say ya" Kurt Cobain may not have been a guitar god or the greatest singer, but he wrote great lyrics. A perfect sound with those lyrics would have taken away from them. It never made me feel worse it made me feel better. It made me feel like I was not alone. That someone else felt the way I did. Mag <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sorry Mag, I used a poor choice of words there. I was not implying that Kurt sold out. It is my opinion though that the record company sold them out. They lost their raw sound with gave them their edge on earlier albums. The record company produced their album so that the suburbanite type of kids that picked on them in school would buy their records. Kurt never sold out, that was the last thing he wanted obviously. Many bands' best work is their early stuff because it is raw and has not been overproduced by the record execs who know nothing about music. All they know is marketing and copying what is already successful. Look at Metallica. I like the Smashing Pumpkins old stuff much more than the new. Art without success is art in it's purest form. It is pure emotion. The record companies are success driven though, not driven by passionate emotions.

What a horrible time for the UK, to be subjected to this kind of horror. My deepest sympathy and support goes out to our Anglo brothers. Your sentiment is awesome Julian, but that's something you never have to doubt. Londoners have been strong and resilient for years: Whether it was an Armada from Spain, Dutch warships in the Medway, Napoleon lurking at Boulogne, Hitler bombing like crazy, or IRA terrorists blowing people up. I can't imagine such a tough city buckling to assholes like Al Qaeda. They're our role models for fortitude. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well said Mark! Al Qaeda has no chance of winning. They will lose their following over time. Though I think that it will be a long time, people will see how the leadership wont practice what they preach. They will watch them surrender instead of "die fighting the infedel". Londoners have been through so much in their history that this will be a speed bump in comparison. Stay strong Londoners and know that Americans support you.

How could I forget to add Alice in Chains? Shame on me! Soundgarden too! Nirvana is a band that I don't care for, but I do like the "cheesy" or "sell-out" album Nevermind. I like Heart-shaped Box too. Mag will tell you that I am a cheesy hair metal guy. Though I do like the dark metal stuff that wasn't about hairspray. I liked the good time party songs and the aggressive-make you want to drive a 100 MPH songs. A lot of the grunge movement seemed to be about "wow, my life really sucks!" I can see why people relate to this but for me I like my music to give me something positive or help me release pent up aggression. A lot of grunge makes me feel worse.

As are Alex Lifeson (Zivojinovic), and Neil Peart. :king: Snow Dog <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Very true

The first concert I ever saw was Tesla/Def Leppard. I went to see Tesla, lol. Def Leppard was o.k. I liked On Through the Night and Pyromania. Alice Cooper was a great show. I also like Iron Maiden. Metallica was great before the "Black album". BTW, did I mention that I play bass? That explains a lot about the music I listen to. Geddy Lee is a genious. Others are Billy Sheehan, Jaco Pastorius, Les Claypool, Cliff Burton, and John Entwistle. I will show my age now. What is with these kids that spend thousands of dollars on sound systems to only listen to an electronic bass drum. I would love to introduce them to the treble cleff. I personally blame MTV (Empty V) for ruining music (I use that term loosely) as my generation knows it. Sorry for the rant, I am turning into a music curmudgeon. YOU KIDS GET OFF OF MY LAWN!!!

Yes Mag drives me nuts with show tunes, so that is a dislike. Rush is great and I agree with 2112. I have heard the Orchestra version of YYZ and it is very cool. When Mag and I worked at a restaraunt together we used to play 2112 on the jukebox just because it was so long and customers kept playing Achy Breaky Heart. We lived in Hicksville(I like to call it Hazard County). I am a metalhead, I do like blues and old school country though. I don't think I can narrow it down to 3 albums though. Megadeath's Rust in Peace would be one. Pantera's Vulger Display of Power. Black Sabbath's We Sold Our Souls For Rock and Roll. Motley Crue's Girls, Girls, Girls. Pink Floyd's Delicate Sound of Thunder. Tool's Undertow. Judas Priest is also great. I love Stevie Ray Vaughn. Violent Femmes, Ramones, Johnny Cash, Charlie Daniels Band, Godsmack, Disturbed, Ozzy, and The Greatful Dead are others I like. Here are a couple I doubt anyone else will bring up. Bloodrock, a 70's band. Neil Sedaka, My mom listened to him when I was growing up. And I enjoy a good parody, Thanks Weird Al.

Did you read that book, I think it's titled "Everything Bad is Good for You"? It basically said that video games and modern cartoons are good educational tools, teaching both fine motor and problem-solving skills. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I heard a report about that on the news. How come nobody sues the govt. when an ex-military person goes wacko and kills, like McVeigh? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You always come up with the most interesting questions. I'm not sure how to answer that one. But....you stump me all the time. Mag <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just a stump? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> His questions stump my brain. What you are implyling more than a stump........but we will just keep that in our bedroom like Snow Dog has asked. Mag <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have to wonder about the size of the stump that would reach her brain I usually don't stump her brain in the bedroom anyway
