    Chapter 17

Part Three Craig looked over at Dr. Pollack as he turned off the car in the parking lot of his research facility. Craig had just finished his story a couple of minutes ago and he was waiting with some trepidation for Dr. Pollack's reaction. What he got surprised him. Dr. Pollack pulled the keys out of the ignition and then sat very still for a moment staring at the steering wheel while saying nothing. Craig could've sworn he heard Dr. Pollack mutter swear words under his breath but he knew

    Chapter 16

Thanks! Yup, some explanation for what's going on, and what's going to occur. But the story won't get too bogged down in science stuff, just enough outline to flesh things out a bit.

    Chapter 16

Men in black putting the boys in cells...how did you know?! Nah, but lots more to come as things start to get explained, and unravel...

    Chapter 16

Thanks. Don't worry, the physics stuff is kept to the bare minimum to flesh out what's going on. Lots more for Craig and company to come yet.

    Chapter 16

Craig swallowed his bite of pizza. The four boys were in Andrew's kitchen an hour later. Phone calls had been made, negotiations completed, and a sleepover was planned for the four of them at Andrew's place. “Yeah Joel, I missed pizza too, but for me it was bananas. I don't know why, but Wednesday morning I just stared at the bunch of bananas in the fruit bowl and my mouth started watering.” “Naturally. Everybody knows monkeys love bananas,” laughed Joel as he stood up and ran from the room, e

    Chapter 8

Thanks for the encouraging words! And you're very welcome for the story. Another chapter is on its way.

    Chapter 15

Ah yes, the mysterious Dr. Pollack.... And still lots of questions to be answered. I think you may enjoy the next chapter. Read on.

    Chapter 15

Thanks! Yes, all good questions. I think you'll enjoy the next chapter.

    Chapter 15

“God, it's good to see you,” said Joel, getting out of the car and giving Craig a short hug. Craig could see Karma in the back seat of the car looking excited. “You too Joel. Believe me.” Craig returned the hug and they pulled apart, just looking at each other for a minute. It was about 7:00 PM on Friday evening, shortly after supper. Joel suddenly noticed his parents standing outside the car looking at the boys with a slightly puzzled smile. “Oh, sorry. Mom, Dad, this is Craig. Craig, t

    Chapter 14

Thanks. I tried that scene about half a dozen different ways before settling on that one. Glad to hear you liked it. And yup, more is coming, with some secrets revealed and a few surprises perhaps.

    Chapter 14

Yes, hearing corroboration, and a different side of the story, should help Andrew settle this in his own mind. And what will they tell Andrew's dad? Thanks for the comments!

    Chapter 13

Yeah, Craig is really wanting to tell someone what happened to him. We'll see how Andrew reacts. As for Dr. Pollack, you'll just have to wait and see if and how he figures into the story.

    Chapter 13

Thanks. Yeah, Craig seems to be really looking forward to spending a bit more time with Andrew..

    Chapter 14

Craig and Andrew had just arrived at Craig's house after school later that day. “Would you like something to drink? We've got Coke, orange, root beer, and we have apple juice or orange juice,” asked Craig. “Whatever's fine, thanks. Uh, apple juice I guess,” replied Andrew. The two boys were in Craig's kitchen. Craig was doing his best to hide his nervousness, wondering what Andrew's reaction was going to be, or, more likely in Craig's mind, if he'd even believe him. “Let's go up to my room

    Chapter 13

“Anyway Joel,” Craig texted later that same evening, “guess who I met today?” The reply appeared on Craig's phone screen, “I don't know, who?” “Dr. Samuel Pollack!” “Really? Wow! Golly! Umm, who's Dr. Samuel Pollack?” came Joel's sarcastic reply. “Hang on a sec...” Craig did a quick Youtube search and fired off a link to Joel. “Take a look at that video. That's a lecture by him from two years ago, umm, I guess I mean last year, on new developments in String Theory at a TED conference.”

    Chapter 12

Thanks for the comments. You're right, Dr. Pollack was not mentioned before this point in the story. Craig, and Joel, have a few decisions to make here about who they want to trust.

    Chapter 12

Thanks. As his friendship grows with Andrew he'll need to decide what, and how much, to tell him, and just who is Dr. Pollack?

    Chapter 12

Rabble and Craig had managed only a half dozen blocks before Craig wanted to go home. His feeling of strangeness was just getting worse. The sign at the mini-mart was the first problem. Specifically the bullet sized hole through the middle of the large letter 'A'. A bullet hole that shouldn't be there, but Craig knew exactly where it came from. Because he'd put it there, many months ago doing some target practice. Then there was the truck, parked outside the house a block away. He had found th

    Chapter 11

Thanks Parker. Yes, with them not knowing why this happened they have to be on tenterhooks wondering if at any moment it's going to happen again. And they're starting to notice a few odd things...

    Chapter 11

Thanks skinnydragon. Now that he knows that he wasn't dreaming or hallucinating, what are he and Joel planning to do to figure out what's going on? And, of course, what about Andrew.

    Chapter 11

The hardest part of the school day for Craig, the absolute most difficult part, was not the bustle and noise of all the people around him. It wasn't the school work, or the feeling of being naked and vulnerable without his gun and knife. It wasn't even the mindless shuffling to and fro like cattle being herded, or the fact that he had absolutely no idea what his locker combination had been, and had to go to the office to retrieve it. It was being told what to do. "Don't run,” “you need a hal

    Chapter 10

Yup, it's all rather confusing and bizarre, isn't it?! And thanks very much for the feedback regarding Craig's point of view. I tried to imagine exactly what that would feel like from his point of view, and what he would do as a result. Sounds like it worked to some degree.

    Chapter 10

Part Two Five minutes later Craig was still sitting on the edge of his bed, his heart rate barely slowed. His eyes though, they moved. They shot around his room frantically, trying to make sense of it, trying to find something, anything, to help him understand, to feel grounded. His eyes flicked from his own naked body, naked aside from one dirty sock, to the clothes strewn floor, to the messy desktop with his school backpack slung over his chair. A room very different in many ways than th

    Chapter 9

All good questions. You may want to take a look at my reply to skinnydragon's chapter review for a hint about what it's not. But as for more information, you'll just have to read on. Lots more to come!

    Chapter 9

I thought that'd throw you for a loop. As for what's happening, you'll have to read on! I will say this though: I think dream scenes in writing where the characters and readers aren't aware they're a dream scene are cheating. I don't like cheating.
