    Chapter 1

Excellent story! A real tearjerker, but in the best way possible.
  2. Gee Whillickers

    Chapter 1

Thanks Graeme. I hope they live in a warm climate or this would be a bit difficult!
  3. Gee Whillickers

    Chapter 1

Yeah, it didn't need much foreshadowing to figure that out. Thanks for the review.
  4. Gee Whillickers

    Chapter 1

Thanks! I had fun with this one.
  5. Like so many bad ideas, this one started out innocently enough. All I wanted was something original for a Halloween costume. Something a bit different from the run of the mill zombies, vampires, celebrities, football stars, and the like. This was the last year Mom was letting me go out trick-or-treating. She said next year, when I was fourteen, I'd be too old. Tim and I wanted to really get our money's worth this year, and score as much candy as humanly possible. The problem was, I'd put it
  6. Deciding what to wear for trick or treating on Halloween is a tough decision, and can lead to all kinds of interesting consequences!

    Chapter 1

Thanks. There's lots of stories with teens with less than supportive parents, I have a few like that myself, but fortunately there are a lot of parents out there a bit more like Val's, and they need to be recognized!

    Chapter 1

Zombie Rights! Zombie Rights! Heheh, yeah I had a bit of fun there with the parallels. Thanks for reading!
  9. Gee Whillickers

    Chapter 1

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. Yeah, I wanted to keep people guessing a wee bit about if there were actual zombies or not in the story.

    Chapter 1

Heheh, thanks! It's still a few weeks to Halloween but I figured I'd post this one now. I'm glad you liked it!
  11. Halloween sucks when you're fifteen. I mean, you're too old to go door to door in costume getting a pillowcase full of candy, though some kids my age still do. My parents wouldn't let me though, and most of my friends' parents wouldn't let them either. So, you're too old for getting massive amounts of free candy, but you're too young to go to the really cool Halloween parties. Again, my parents, and the parents of most of my friends, wouldn't let us go. So, what to do? Sure, I could stay home
  12. Halloween parties, zombies, and teenagers. What could happen?
  13. I'd like to personally thank Cia and the team here for discovering that one of my stories was plagiarized before it appeared under someone else's name. It's interesting how I felt about it when it happened. You might think it would make sense to be flattered, or maybe a bit annoyed, but instead I found myself feeling angry and hurt. I can tell you I certainly learned a few lessons from this ordeal and will be protecting my work better in the future. And yes, it did bring me to post that story, and now one other, here as well. Hopefully that's a good thing, but that's up to the readers to decide! It's a great community here though, and I'm glad to be a part of it.

    Chapter 1

Thanks! I was trying to use the cold and the weather to set the tone for what Morgan was working through, so I'm glad to hear that it worked! Glad you liked it.
  15. Gee Whillickers

    Chapter 1

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for reading!
  16. Gee Whillickers

    Chapter 1

Thanks, glad to hear it. When readers tell me I struck an emotional nerve then I'm a happy camper. It means I did something right.
  17. Gee Whillickers

    Chapter 1

Nope, that's the complete short story. I'm glad you liked it! Keep your eyes open, there's other stuff to come.
  18. Gee Whillickers

    Chapter 1

Thanks. Trying to capture the feel of a small northern town was an interesting challenge.
  19. Gee Whillickers

    Chapter 1

Thanks! Yeah, the cold winters up there are hard to take, though the side benefits of close contact to keep warm are well worth it. And the Northern Lights are amazing.
  20. Glossary: An editor suggested I put this here since some of the terms might not be familiar to non-Canadians. So here it is: Toque: A knitted winter cap. Wool or cotton or polyester or, these days, a million other things. A million types and shapes and styles and colours. Most of the world probably just calls it a winter hat. Pronounced like saying the word “two” with a “k” sound at the end. Shinny: A game of pick-up hockey using whoever is around as players, and using jackets, boots, or w
  21. A teenager tries to figure out how to deal with his family issues and conservative small-town thinking.
  22. Gee Whillickers

    Chapter 1

Thanks! Yup, we're often not all that different from our favorite other species when it comes right down to it! Thanks for reading!
  23. Gee Whillickers

    Chapter 1

Thanks! I had a lot of fun with this one. Writing from such a different perspective both gave me some interesting leeway in ideas but was also kind of limiting in some ways. An interesting challenge!
  24. Gee Whillickers

    Chapter 1

Yup, I'm actually a dog, so that's what made it so easy to write.... Well, okay, I just play a dog on the internet. Thanks for reading. I had a lot of fun with this one.
  25. Gee Whillickers

    Chapter 1

Thanks. I had a lot of fun writing this trying to put myself into such a different perspective. Yes, I think you'll see a few more here from me.
