  1. ** Brad, Amy, Emma, and I stared at the Norwegians in amazement. "How did you do that?" asked Brad. "We have some self-defense training," said Frank. After an awkward pause, Carson added. "That type of training is common in Norway." I wasn't sure about that. 'That's some training,' I thought. 'The guys that robbed us looked tough. John Wick would have trouble disarming them.’ Who are these guys? ** “The ‘N-line’ is scheduled to arrive in three minutes,” sa

  6. I just received an email from my school notifying me that I've been chosen as a school ambassador this year. My first assignment is to welcome four exchange students from Norway. Friday is the first day of the new term, and I'll meet them at the main entrance at 8:30. I'm really looking forward to it. I just hope they speak English! My life has been pretty great so far, almost perfect. I was born in sunny San Mateo, California, and my family has lived on Aragon Boulevard since I was two ye

  8. ** "This is sad news. We will implore peace for the essential nature of their lumin." as he said lumin, the abbot made a shallow bow and touched his middle and index fingers to his chin... "Three phalanxes? How can this be? It would take a hundred phalanxes or more to project the lumin …" he repeated the bow and, touching his chin, "necessary to transport the mangeni." "We had nothing to do with transporting the mangeni. It was 'Twm the strong,' and Twm could transport many more,"

The plainsrunners are on their back foot. Thanks for the comment.
  10. ** While searching a remote treehouse, Henry was startled by a sound coming from under a bench in the back of a small room. He cautiously approached the bench and discovered one of the horrendously mauled bodies of a woman. Beneath the body, covered in dried blood and gore, were two eyes peering anxiously up at him. Henry, overcoming his initial fear and surprise, gently said. "I am a plainsrunner from Dinas, and I am here to help you." ** Henry knelt and extended his hand to the cowering

The one survivor of the Goginaovern settlement will be a focus of the next chapter. Thanks for the comment.
  13. Twm and Henry traveled from settlement to settlement, spreading the word of the nmbling threat and recruiting plainsrunners into messenger phalanxes. The further they traveled from Dinas, the less aware the settlements were of recent events. By the time they reached the settlement of Bryngwyn, the population was unaware that Twm the strong was alive and running the plains, and the nmbling had attacked Carreg the cycle before. Despite a phalanx from Landysal accompanying Twm and Henry, the B

Good point. Something has changed and upset the balance on the plains.
  15. ** Another boy ruptured and sped toward him. Henry flared, traveling rapidly forward to meet the attacker, and at the last second, released a deep blue countering lumin glow in front of him, propelling him backward. The attacking boy had never seen anything like this before; he panicked and tripped, tumbling out of control on the verge of serious injury. Henry was horrified. 'This boy may die!' The plains exploded. A bright light temporarily blinded all present. Tomas stood cradling the

    Chapter 1

Thanks for the comment. This story may be a little darker than my others, but not oppressively so.
  19. Tomas and Henry ceased flaring and stepped off the dusty trail into Dinas under the pale glow of the twin suns, their arrival timed for the day before the annual Gwyl celebration. It was the first Gwyl since the Divulgence a cycle ago, an event that had shaken the plains and left whispers of change in its wake. Tomas, known across the settlements as Twm the strong, carried a weight of fame that made discretion necessary. Their presence would soon spark rumors, but for now, they sought to blend a
  20. ‘Luminosity - The Beginning’ should be read first. I was fourteen years old for six hundred years. I'm ninety-five now. Matthew, my companion, my lover, my life, lies in the hospital bed next to mine. His breathing is shallow. I am worried. It was my turn to die first this time. Before Matthew, there was another …

    Chapter 8

I understand your concern with a rushed ending. I try to balance, too much detail with too little detail. I might have missed the balance this time. Maybe I’ll write a sequel sometime and fill in some of the missing points. Thanks for the comment.
