  1. Hey, I figured I'd post here for the first time because I loved this book so much. This book is absolutely amazing. I had to take a break from reading it to recommend it to you all. John Boyne is a famous author in his own right for works like The Boy in Stripped Pyjamas but I didn't know that several of his stories feature gay protagonists and are romantic. Its very likely that several of you have already read this wonderful book considering how famous and successful Boyne is but if you haven't, you owe yourself the opportunity to be taken in by the characters and places that it takes you. It is a very sad story about a World War One veteran who fell in love with another boy named Will, whom he served with. It is now 1919 in the story and something has gone very, very wrong for our protagonist Tristan. He is alone and the love of his life is dead. Tristan promised Will that after the war was over he would deliver letters that Will had received from his sister who lives in Norfolk. So the story draws us in with this central premise of confronting Tristan's grief and guilt over the death of Will. Early on in the novel an old man in a pub tells Tristan that it is obvious he is filled with guilt and that he hates himself. Why? The mystery is worth reading and makes a very compelling drama. The characters sucked me in immediately and seemed immensely believable. Tristan is funny and relatable. He likes to imagine the backstories of strangers that he meets in his head, imagining all kinds of details about them based upon his initial impression. Will is great too with how contemplative and dour he can be while also being optimistic and brash. You're just left wishing that things were different for Tristan and Will, but it isn't really a story about happily ever after. If you have recommend books that are similar, I'd love to hear recommendations. The caliber of writing that Boyne brings to the narrative is the top of his field in my opinion.

The Mouth of Madness It was with some trepidation that Jacob drove through the gates of the Fenwick Estate. Jacob drove up the drive and saw the manor before him, it was quite the beautiful old structure. Jacob parked his car out front and made his way to the front door and rang the bell. A minute passed and Jacob was about to head home when a portly dark haired man wearing a suit opened the door, “Master Robert is waiting for you Sir.” Jacob Mendel took a small step back, “Ah
  3. Jacob Mendel, the school outcast, didn't expect to be thrown into a world of dark secrets and madness when Robert Fenwick asked him to be his math tutor.
  4. Thanks for the suggestions, will look into them. I've seen leopard skin by Graeme mentioned a couple times so I might read that one next ...though the graem stories I've read have always been terribly depressing lol so I'd if that one is any different.
  5. Any other suggestions? I read through Pour Me Another, it was quite good. Bookmarked Crosscurrents and Working it Out for later. I started Working it out but found the romance to be a little quick, two chapters in and the main character thinks he's in love? I don't have a problem with that so much as I'd like a little more character development. Going to keep reading though. Faxity I've read The Ordinary Us, it was quite good. Though tbh I preferred Desert Dropping. Such great Character development and I just absolutely loved the love interest in that one. Highlight the following text for spoilers: The Characters were absolutely fantastic, I really felt like I got to know them over the course of that story. So many great moments, and we're lead on to believe that the Love Interest is a scumbag with maybe some redeeming qualities but then we meet the real love interest and he's just adorable. He's nerdy but caring...it was a good story. Great story. Wasn't his name Seth or something like that? <3 End Spoilers. Anyway would love to hear any other suggestions you have about this trope. Or maybe just suggestions in general, but I can make another thread for that if needed.
  6. Hey Thanks for the replies. I just got home, but to answer some of your questions over what I'm looking for...I honestly don't have a preference other than the Trope itself. I want to be broad as to accommodate many suggestions. I suppose I'd prefer stories that aren't work in progress. As to my reading list, to go over that I'd be listing a lot of stories. I've read a lot. Nifty, Awesomedude, Fictionpress, Wattpadd, you name it. It's hard to find stories I haven't read, but honestly not too difficult. Seems a lot of recommendations already in this thread are new to me. I love that there is always more to read. Anyway, hopefully that will answer some of your questions. I can clarify specific tastes in plot a bit later once I'm relaxed.
  7. Hello, So I haven't posted much (at all) on Gay Authors. I keep meaning to write some stories for fun, but it's a lot of work. One of these days! Anyway on to my request: I'm interested in stories about the seduction of a 'straight' boy. I'm kind of in the mood to indulge in that romance trope and can't find any I haven't read. The straight boy could be a homophobe, or he could be tolerant and realize he's gay but I'd like the romance to center around the straight boy coming to terms with the fact that he's either gay or bi. Anyone have any recommendations sort of like this? Thanks in advance if you do. It's one of my favorite story tropes.

Hello, Wanted to leave my two cents on your story so far as I just got caught up in the course of a few days of reading. I like it a lot, you aren't the best writer from a technical perspective (most of us aren't) but your ideas are phenomenal. You're a fantastic storyteller and that is what really matters in my opinion. Great stuff, I'm going to eagerly await your next chapter. I'm glad I kept reading, I thought it was rather jarring when the perspective switched after Dan+Mark got infected. I felt the story was self contained enough with their 'deaths' but I like how you tied it all back together and reintroduced them. As a side note I find the idea of love transcending sexuality to be very romantic and also uniquely 21st century. It's interesting. I mean Dan and Mark clearly love each other, it's a romantic love on both ends but it transcends sexuality. Very cool.

    Chapter 1

This is a great story so far. I'm definitely planning to keep reading. I don't even know why but the scene where Jeff was praying literally had me sobbing. That was an incredibly moving statement to me. You're a good author, hopefully you're still writing.
