  1. Two doctors, two lives, two families. Can one man's secret change everything?
  2. Thank you! I love this tale and I'm pleased you did too
  3. Chapter Nineteen Mid-September had arrived. The chilly gusts of autumn had already begun to blow. David put the thermal cover over the hot tub and covered the grill as well. The only thing now was to spruce up the backyard for their ceremony. Serena came over two days in advance to assist with the pruning of the greenery. It had to be perfect in her mind. She didn’t know when she’d marry, and since Robert’s first wedding was quite small in scale, she wanted to make a big deal out of thi
  4. Thank you! Yes, letting the past rest and moving on is the best course.
  5. Chapter Eighteen Summer arrived in all its glory. Unfortunately, it was a very hot season. Most of the days were predicted to be in the nineties. David and Robert were anxious about inviting their exes over to their house, but they did it anyway. The first visit was tenuous at best. The three visitors arrived at two o’clock on a Saturday. Andrea was dolled up in a pink swimsuit covered up by a denim skirt and paired with pink sandals. “Hi guys!” she said loudly. She waved to them. An
  6. Chapter Seventeen The happy couple decided to throw an engagement party. It was in early June, and luckily, a perfect evening. The temperature was seventy-five degrees, low humidity, and the citronella torches were keeping the mosquitoes at bay. David and Robert had invited Andrew and Phillip, as well as Cleve and Connor, but neither couple could make it. In fact, it was a very paltry list consisting of Cal, Daniel and his wife, Robert’s parents and sister. They decided to go with a casu
  7. Chapter Sixteen Robert came home from work and he knew David was still at his job. He took a quick nap to refresh himself, changed clothes, shaved off his beard, and had a quick supper alone. The temperature outside had been trying to warm up, but spring was two weeks away yet. Robert missed David a lot and texted him on his phone. “I miss you. Come home soon. I love you.” He sent the message. Two minutes later, the phone rang. Robert answered it. “Hey, baby.” “Hey. How are you?”
  8. I think his wanting to control whom Robert sees is his way of trying to keep him from getting hurt again. His heart is in the right place; but he could go about it differently.
  9. Chapter Fifteen Two months later, Robert and David were once again invited over to their family’s homes for dinner. Robert tried to keep under wraps that they’d gone to the wedding, but Serena knew all about it. She was good for secret keeping though. She knew her brother was gay from the time they were children, yet said nothing. She let him handle it himself. Mark and Cassie invited the duo over. Mark hugged them both hello while Cassie finalized dinner. “Come on in, boys. Have som
  10. Thank you very much!! This made my day Not sure where I am taking J/C next...but am working on it.
  11. Chapter Fourteen January. The coldest of months had taken hold. Not only was there snow, but ice as well. Driving had been treacherous ever since a sleet storm passed through. Luckily, it cleared up just in time for Andrew and Phillip’s ceremony. Robert and David wore suit pants and plain white shirts to the wedding. They would stand out as it was, they didn’t want to augment it. They were promised to each other now. No one else mattered. They arrived at the ceremony, and as expected
  12. Thank you! Yes, they really need to let that shine through that they are a committed couple
  13. Chapter Thirteen Christmas had come to town. David had requested Christmas Eve off so he could accompany Robert to his parent’s house for dinner. For once, he was part of a family’s tradition. He dressed extra nicely for the occasion. Black pants were paired with a lime green shirt that nearly matched his eyes. He slicked back his hair a bit to keep it out of his face. Robert came home from the store and saw his boyfriend preening in the bathroom mirror. “Well, don’t we look handsome?”
  14. Chapter Twelve The Christmas season was ushered in by the first snowfall of the season. It was still ten days until the actual holiday, but Mother Nature didn’t seem to notice. Robert arrived home first after a rough day at work. It was the last day before the Congress went on vacation and the aides were usually the last to go. He was the very last, being a senior aide now. Robert had been working ten-hour days for the past two weeks to get everything settled before the long holiday brea
  15. No spoilers here He and Robert both deserve happiness for certain. There is something coming, but not as earth-shattering as one might believe.
  16. Chapter Eleven Neither David nor Robert could ever remember being this happy in a relationship. It had everything they wanted: mutual respect, true love, and shared interests. They sometimes wondered if things were going too fast because of how quickly they fell in love. Robert knew his relationship with Phillip was dead as soon as it began. David knew it wouldn’t last with Andrew, not with an ex-lover still waiting for him. This was different. They had shared pain and experiences, and found
  17. Chapter Ten It was mid-December. Robert wanted to celebrate their one-month anniversary with a romantic dinner. He set things up much the same way he had with Phillip for their “last-chance” dinner. This wasn’t the same desperate tone that played out that time. This was joyous and sweet. Robert felt very loved and the feeling was mutual. He waited anxiously for David to arrive home. The hour of 9 p.m. struck. David pulled up in the driveway. Robert wanted to run out and greet him, but gi
  18. Chapter Nine David had grown tired of the lonely life of the clinic and decided he was well enough to go back into the ER. He wanted Cal to meet Robert and help him decide. He invited the man over for dinner a week later. “Cal! You old dog, good to see you!” David hugged him warmly. Robert walked towards the man. “Cal, this is Robert.” Robert smiled and offered his hand for Cal to shake, which he did. “Nice to meet you, Cal.” “Oops, don’t want to shake it too hard, you’re the
  19. Chapter Eight The following night arrived. David drove himself and Robert to the sports complex near their house. David paid for them both and they ran inside like two children on a field trip. “What’d you wanna do first?” Robert asked. David eyed the rock wall. “Let’s climb that.” Robert felt a lump in his throat. “That? Oh shit, I think I forgot to mention I’m afraid of heights.” David reached for his hand. “I’ll be with you all the time, plus they have safety harnesses. Yo
  20. Thanks! Yeah, I wasn't sure how to end it...so I left it open.
  21. You finally were given the position you have longed for and gone to school for. It has taken you years to realize the nay sayers and people who said you weren’t worth it were wrong. Now as you finally step into the place you want to be your past also rears its head. Your first job applicant to work under you is a name very familiar to you. In fact, it was the bully who made your life a living hell through your school years. Now, their future is in your hands. Are you able to forget the past or i
  22. Thanks! I agree They are good for each other.
  23. Chapter Seven Robert went to see his family the next night. His mom had made her specialty—roast chicken. Robert arrived right from work. He was still in his suit and tie. His father answered the door. “Well, look at you, all dapper.” He hugged his son briefly. “Cassie, Rob’s here!” he yelled back. “Come on in, son. Take a load off.” “Thanks, Dad. It’s been a long day, I’m glad to be here.” Serena came out from around the corner. “Hey, bro!” The two hugged. “How’s it going?”
  24. Thank you! Yea, they are having a hard time moving on and deserve apologies. I love these two; they are awesome. More coming next Sunday
  25. Chapter Six The moment David and Robert arrived home, all hell broke loose. David slammed the door shut, surprising Robert. “Unbelievable! They’re getting remarried and starting a family! Not even two months after ditching my ass!” Robert tried to reach out and calm his friend. “It was meant to happen. Phil and I hadn’t ever set a date either time we were engaged. I knew he wasn’t serious.” Robert tried to reach for David’s arm, but was denied. “How can you be so calm about this? I’
