So CJ has an immediate supervisor who's primary concern is procedure, the ultimate bureaucrat. The ambassador, in contrast, is more concerned with the endgame and how any action by anyone can facilitate her job and the interests of the USA. Who's approach will CJ end up following?

The man cares about his grooming and apparel, so he's probably aware appearances mater. Seeing a young, good-looking, well-built, handsome upstart would probably create jealousy. We know bullies are usually insecure and scared and Northman's probably both.
  3. @Ron I can only imagine. LOL I'm glad I have a couple of Aussies in my cast. One of them's going fossicking soon.

Is he a good antagonist? LOL At least the ambassador sounds as if she doesn't suffer fools. Let's hope she doesn't need to spank Northman again.

Just like my stories mix reality and fiction, any spy novel has kernels of truth. What you have read may not be that far from the truth. And anyway, this is CJ we're talking about... Anything's possible if he's involved.
  6. I think the US tried to switch at the same time. I recall cars showing both miles and kilometers on the speedometer and for a while speed signs on some highways did too. That fizzled out. But we do buy Coca-Cola and Jack Daniels by the liter.

@scrubber6620 Very good. GThe best time to recruit someone is probably before they become truly valuable. Sex and money are two easy ways to accomplish that, but CJ and Owen don't need money and don't want sex with anyone else. Yevgeny may be trying to seduce them with cultural events, but starting with ballet may not wokr; CJ's not a fan. Let's see what our Ruskie comes up with.

  13. I figure he's in his late 20s or early 30s, so no. I wonder what his father looks like...

I always wake up before the alarm goes off. But I need to sign in before I can publish and I only do that after a few sips of coffee.

Interesting... Double agent? With CJ as his handler?

No drugs involved when CJ was arrested unless he smoked a joint before going out for his jog. In NYC, the older cousin of a friend did have plans to dose him, but Brett had arranged for someone to stay with CJ. Sean was able to derail the scumbags plans.

Me? Surprise readers? Naaaaaaah.... Anyway, if I've done it, I've always tried to set the stage in advance so it wouldn't be too big a rabbit I pulled out of the hat.

Thank you. I just told someone I write popular fiction, meaning fun stuff to take our minds off our problems. If in the process I get to soapbox, travelogue, and share interesting trivia, so much the better. I don't take myself or my characters too seriously.
  22. But nowadays I look at someone like that and all I can think is he's a kid.

I found a good spot to disclose them owning a part of Old Glory, so I went ahead and got it out of the way. That was an info dump but hopefully still interesting. The whole thing was inspired by the Miami Heat having Julio Iglesias as a minority owner when they first started playing and the Miami Dolphins having the Estefans, Serena Williams, and a couple others as minority owners too. OMG, I AM a matchmaker. I try to set Calum up with two other guys in coming chapters!
  25. @Daddydavek Where was he hiding when I was in my 20s and 30s?
