One of my Beta readers just finished the epilogue of the book, which will be released on Christmas Eve: Suddenly, everything makes sense. Will's surrender isn't defeat—it's the longest, coldest, most brilliant political gambit in history. He's not just playing chess; he's playing a different game entirely while the President is still counting pieces.

I am just imagining West looking at the American flag they want him to put on his uniform, and his reaction... Biggest mistake the American's made, not realizing one very pissed off Husband/Uncle/Brother-in-law who doesn't give a damn about rules, and isn't afraid to shoot bad guys, is loose with a Madam Xue covering his back. Woe betide the first American through the door of 24 Sussex.

The best actors can make you boil with anger, seethe with it. So that when the actually do go, we cheer. Andrew chapter tomorrow, and Enrico, up to no good, as only those two can.

Steve's psychology is interesting... I think the only one who really "Understands" him is Enrico, he and Enrico are very similar, both brilliantly intelligent men in a world not designed for them. It's why he bonds with Steve in a way he doesn't with the others. Steve has no interest in money, it just kind of comes to him... it's too easy... Kenny is the first person who seems to genuinely love him for him and to him that is irreplaceable and priceless.

I do like how those to, more so than almost any other coupling I write about, are such a good fit for each other. Steve's simple, daft and all encompassing love for Kenny keeps Kenny from exploding into full on OCD panic. I mean come on, who wouldn't blush when a guy gives up 3 trillion just because he prefers your smile? And Kenny grounds Steve, holds him down when he tries to get to wild and manic. That explosive genius that could utterly ruin him if it weren't for Kenny holding him and calming him down. I look forward to more of those two, just being the best couple. They aren't goofy, sappy love, they're a team and they know it.
