  1. Chapter Twelve Wednesday, December 18th, 2019 WORLD END: T-minus 84 days, 11 hours, and 00 minutes. The Prime Minister’s Office, Langevin Block, Ottawa. The anteroom to the Prime Minister’s Office was designed to intimidate. It was a space of high ceilings, heavy velvet drapes, and the crushing silence of state power. United States Ambassador David White was not easily intimidated. He was a political appointee, a former hedge fund manager from Connecticut who w

Well there's more than one kind of prejudice going on in that courtroom, and Assumptions lead to mistakes as Perry Mason used to say.

    Chapter 15

Completely removes Stirling (the Pinkerton's Lawyer/prosecutor) ability to cross examine, Theo himself isn't under oath, doesn't have to say a word, and can't perjure himself, which was definitely Rourke's plan.

depends on the judge, they can object, of course. But it's down to the judge, who has allowed it, and now the hands of the jury who will hear it.

    Chapter 15

    # Chapter 15: The Shadow of the Rope Denver was not a city of wood and canvas like Silver Creek; it was a city of stone and judgment, built to proclaim the permanence of law and the finality of its consequences. It sprawled on the high plains like a permanent scar on the land, a relentless grid of imposing granite edifices and wide, paved streets that seemed designed to dwarf the individual, to grind the frontier's chaotic spirit under the heel of established order. The air was thin,

    Chapter 11

Tell me about it, I am having one of those mornings as well. And I don't have a project at the moment... which is aggravating for me. If I am not writing, I kid of float. (And trust me the drek I wrote yesterday about a Borstal in Norfolk set in 1955... was not worth the space on my Hard Drive....) for every good one I put out, there are dozens are bad ones that lurk in the depths of the drive, that really need to be stuffed in a cage and forgotten (Man it was Baaaaaaaaaaaaaad. what was I thinking... ) Here's the secret to how I write so fast, I do a pair of chapters each day. But often I go down into the archive which is vast and :: shudders :: and see if there is something I can mine. I keep everything. Watchers was one of these projects that I had inspiration to go and fix... maybe I will start Watcher's III.... was planning on after Christmas... This is 3am Topher, the slightly neurotic one who needs more coffee...

    Chapter 11

This chapter is one of the oldest of all three books. And one of the most worked on. Andrew's perspective of a very key event in their lives.

  19. Chapter Eleven WORLD END: ERROR UNKOWN Unknown 2004, Winter I think The cold was the first thing Andrew Highmore registered, a cruel, immediate physical presence. It was the icy bite of November air combined with a deep, marrow-deep chill of raw fear. He shot awake, body rigid, a ragged, strangled gasp tearing from his throat. For a sickening, disoriented moment, he wasn’t in a cell; he was trapped once more in the cramped back seat of his Mustang… Not his classic, this was the

If there are any requests you lads have for Christmas stories, specials or catch ups, let me know now so I have time to write them. The first one : The Hailsham Illumination - Scott Walker and Luke. (Luke promises not to arrest Scott until after Christmas... as long as he's good)

    Chapter 14

I think were it not for Theo going there, and his patent honesty to a man used to people lying to him, they might have done so. Rourke ain't done underestimating the bravery of our boy Theo yet, or his intelligence

    Chapter 14

I like to think that Elias's mother isn't evil, she's a product of her time. And testing Theo here, it takes steel balls to be gay in 1882, to face down the Scandal's that she's described, and Theo standing up to her projecting the worst side of what Society will throw at them earns her respect in a way that acceptance from the outset never could. Theo's fiesty and meets her squarely and doesn't flinch. That, to her, earns his place.
