The Secret Lies of Schoolboys

Two boys, six years of silence, and one morning with toast that changes everything. Marshall-Lee has spent forever pretending not to see Aiden across the street. But Aiden's been watching—collecting leaves, drawing portraits, waiting. When he finally crosses the road with breakfast and no agenda, Marshall-Lee's carefully constructed walls start crumbling. This is a story about being seen. About the patience it takes to love someone who isn't ready yet. About first kisses on cheeks and hands that finally touch. Sweet, slow, and achingly tender—for anyone who remembers what it felt like to fall.

Heartwarming and uplifting tale about two 14 year old boys who find recognition through friendship, and the resulting recognition to their “found family” members, all of whom derive benefit and find comfort, support and joy in the “found family”. A real 5 star treat from Merrickville yet again.

What a charming, feel-good story of two boys who live near each other finally connecting and begin to learn they really like each other.  The story expands to two adults who are brought together by a well-meaning matchmaker that eventually helps form a healthy , caring family. You will like the people and will root for them as they face and solve problems. Is not it time to have a happy ending?

This is a story which Aiden, Marshall-Lee's, best friend, his boyfriend, might label, "A Slice of Life - Our Lives." It's different from most stories in this genre, because their lives are different. Marshall-Lee's older brother Axl is seventeen, and carries the weight of his own family and Aiden on his shoulders. Luckily, Orel and Finn, an unusual couple, because Orel is... unusual, are there to help, along with, Ollie, Orel's brother.

You cannot fail to be drawn in by these characters, to love them, and suffer with them, a bit, along the way. This is a gentle story that is full of depth and emotion which might easily make your eyes a little damp by the time you reach the end. How can one not fall in love which such a wonderfully oddball family who are actually survivors of terrible events?

They say that every cloud has a silver lining and this story embodies that expression of triumph in adversity. It is very well crafted by an extremely talented author and an excellent book which I highly recommend you to read. Don't miss out on a wonderful, emotional, enlightening story written with the feather like plume of an accomplished storyteller. If you laugh and cry along the way, it just proves a point.

This is a wonderful story that reflects upon the growth of two teens raising their caregivers. It shows us neglect versus nurturing, but also shows the power of family, whether given or chosen. But growth is an ageless commodity with equal opportunity for all with an open heart and mind.

It’s a virtual guide that could be labeled;  “All You Ever Wanted to Know about Pizza Delivery,” when it’s comes special ordered with extra sausage.

One of the best feel good stories to grace these pages. Addictive and entertaining and will leave you wanting more.

I did have an issue towards the end as the pollen from the latest snowstorm had my eyes watering, and a near case of tennis elbow from reaching for the box of Kleenex!

This is another fantastic visit to the town of Merrickville.

A heartwarming tale of two fourteen year old, Marshall-Lee and Aiden. who find recognition with each other.

We also have two adults who find friendship and more, through a mutual friend.

The adults and the teenagers, eventually find friendship and become a family unit.

Give it a read to discover much more.
