I genuinely enjoy the courtship between these two, it's not yearning teenagers, angst and whining. It's got a bite to it, equals figuring each other out. Theo knows what he wants, he's just trying to guage how ready Elias is for it. Elias is only hesitating because he's worried what it will mean for Theo. And sooner or later Jack's going to drop kick the both of them if they don't hurry up and get on with it.

As always, Mr. Rietbergen, you provide food for thought, and reflection. Thank you. I agree, an action like this would be debated for decades after the fact. School kids writing essays, verdicts passed by professors of Constitutional Law, and historians. Will Carter vs the King of the North persona, the husband vs the vengeful avenger, the Father vs the Guardian. Right now Will's disassociation protects him, and allows him to function through this. But that is fleeting, and sooner or later, the man he is deep down will reassert himself. And the only man Andrew fears the Judgement of, will judge himself.

Jessica is Andrew's Protege, he trained her. Without Andrew there, she's had to step up. And I always liked her balanced realism and quiet capability.

I think the 2019 Trump administration was very different than the current one. And as per GA rules, we should focus on the historical 45th President, and not the 47th (I find it almost like looking at two different men... anyway, rules, observing so @drpaladin 's banhammer doesn't fall on us all.) If I am remembering rightly, he had a split congress constraining wilder moments, General Flynn was keeping a reign on things, and there was a sense of you can't do that in the air. Plus it's an election year. It changes things slightly.

18 so far, but I am adding to it, it is unfinished. This chapter didn't exist yesterday... so this brinkmanship is new. This is sort of what happened at the end of the last book, a fundamental shift in the ice has me reworking things.
