“You could be right. Let’s just keep this to ourselves for now. No mention of it to the police,” I responded and Simon nodded his head in agreement, as he stood up and went to the phone, where he ordered room service for lunch. When the waiter arrived with our lunch, I asked him if he had a spare box to put all of the office files into, and ten minutes later he returned with the required box. I gave him a $20 tip for his assistance. After eating lunch, we packed all of the files and folders

After moving out of the assigned accommodation on Christmas eve, I booked Angela and the boys into a motel, in Vancouver for six days, to allow me two days over Christmas with the family, and then time to travel by vehicle, with a small box trailer, with all our belongings, including some stuff that we had shipped over from the UK, that was still in boxes. Saying farewell to my family, I began the long drive north-north-east, which I was expecting to take 2 ½ days to complete, with 7 hours of dr

While we were having a walk around the island, my mobile rang un-expectedly. “Anton Hamilton speaking,” I said as I answered. “Mr Hamilton, this is Mike from the boatyard. We need to inform you that we had a break-in at the boatyard last night, and it looks like they were targeting your yacht. They have ransacked the whole yacht, but most of the mess is in the forward crew area,” Mike informed me and I groaned, knowing what this might mean. “Mike, can you do me a favour and check on so

Before they go to the UK, he does go to his home town, to see his parents, but keeps out of sight of the townsfolk.

Nearly two weeks later, taking just the essentials with us, we left the rest of our belongings in our home, next door to Aunty Jean’s, and we made the long journey north to the United Kingdom, and once we had cleared customs, we made our way outside of Heathrow airport, where an army vehicle was parked out front. “Warrant Officer Mitchell Benning? I am Staff Sergeant Palmer, I am in charge of getting you to Scotton, and getting you and your family settled, welcome to London and the UK:” the army

On hearing this, I decided that we needed to get away from the skylight. So, very carefully and quietly we slipped away, and made our way to the aft of the yacht, where we chatted with the 1st mate for some time, while he was at the helm. While there we saw Edward and Christine coming back from the crew area and going downstairs to their cabins. Edward was hiding his face from us, but we knew why. When we finally decided to retire for the night, we said goodnight to the 1st mate and the ste

“Entonces, ¿qué piensas de la nave?” I asked José, who smiled, “It is a magnificent ship, you are so lucky to have a great ship, Sebastian” Jose replied in English. “Well it is a family company ship, so it is owned by Huon, my twin brothers and myself” Sebastian replied. “Wow really, you didn’t say anything last time you were here, Huon” Jose responded, “Well, I was still getting use, to having some family, after losing my second parent, let alone being a minor shareholder of the company” I repl

“Will we get any shore leave at these stops?” I asked, “Yes, and a lot more than that we have been getting for this trip, there is 6 days at Tasmania, and 12 days in New Zealand, after Invercargill, we head north east for 2 ½ days to Chantham Island, which is part of New Zealand, From there we head to Chile, I have arranged for us to berth at Punta Arenas, it is a main southern city of Chile, and from there we can take a short cut across to the Magellan’s Strait, and down to the Falklands” Sebas

Chapter 50 When we arrived at Berth 37, we found in front of us a three-master schooner, about 42 metres long. It looked magnificent. We stood there and stared at if for some time, not noticing someone standing on the deck smiling at us. “Welcome aboard, Simon and Anton.” We smiled as we saw who we presumed was Mr Lockwood. We carefully stepped on board for the first time. “I am Eric Chambers. Welcome,” the gentleman said as he shook our hands. “I am Anton. This is my best friend,

I stared at the screen of my phone for what seemed a long time, as it read just over $687,000 Australian, “This is... I just...” I stuttered, “It is yours dear cousin, to spend which ever way you want too, you are a wealthy man now, so just relax and enjoy it” Sebastian said to me. “Easy for you to say, you have grown up with lots of money around you, our family has struggled to keep the farm going, and keep me in a private school” I replied. “Well you have no financial worries any more” Se

After an hour, we had inspected nearly every inch of the ship, including the engine and generator rooms, which are quite large and noisy, and when we arrived at deck A crew living area, I wondered what Seb was doing, as we arrived at the crew galley, were the chief steward and executive chef were chatting. “Sorry to interrupt you both, James I just need to ask you, about your comment of a secure cabin, do we actually have one?” Seb asked. “We do now sir, I have relocated one of the crew mem

Once I had finished breakfast, Seb asked for me to follow him, and we headed up the forward stairs to the Bridge, “Good morning Captain, are we almost ready?” Seb asked as we stepped onto the Bridge, “Yes Mr Wagner, we are just waiting for the passengers now” the Captain replied. “What is the weather forecast for the first few days of the trip?” I asked. “We have some good weather for the first few days, Mr Devonport. We should get to Amsterdam Island on time” the captain replied. “Do we ha

“Hello young man, can you tell me the last thing you remember?” a doctor said to me as he walked in, “I had just come back from a trip into Perth. I was speaking to my cousin, then I went to rest as I had a headache that had been present since just before I left Perth” I replied. “Ok, well when you didn’t wake up from your rest, you were rushed to hospital here in Perth, you have been unconscious for nearly five days, it is Sunday morning now” the doctor said to me, and I frowned for a moment.

“Wow how many people did you organise to come” Kyle said to Sam, “Just two from each school, so it is fair to everyone” Sam replied with a smile. I chuckled when I saw Kyle's surprised look, then I turned to face everyone. “Ok, attention everyone please. Welcome to the Upper Avon river, today is just a short trial run, to check out parts of the river, Kyle, Sebastian – my cousin and I have tested the first 12 kilometres, and the next bridge is exactly nine kilometres away, so it should take us j

“That is why I have decided to go on the ship this time, so I don’t have to deal with so many people at the airports at Perth, Sydney, Auckland and Santiago, and all the people on the planes for each flight, if I get to anxious, I can easily retreat to my cabin, or to a quiet part of the ship somewhere” I replied. “When does the ship leave Australia?” Tom asked, “August 28th from Albany, which is a small city 400 kilometres south of Perth on the far south coast” I replied, “Have you been th

The veranda runs the full length of the front three rooms, and is 3 metres wide for plenty of entertainment space, with folding windows from the kitchen for easy access” Seb said to me, just as the twins reappeared from their end of the house. “Come see our rooms Huon” the boys said in broken English, as they grabbed my hands and dragged me to the north wing of the house.
