  1. Beautifully written, Parker. I loved the phone conversations between Zander and his grandparents (especially his grandfather) - so touching and emotional. Well done.
  2. Thank you. I'm really glad you enjoyed it.

Those of us "of a certain age" don't remember those times fondly. Fortunately, things have changed a lot for young gay people today, I think. Still lots of challenges, but more opportunities, acceptance and support.
  4. Thank you, Robert. I appreciate the comment.

I enjoyed writing a chapter where Mark finally stands up for himself. It was a long time coming, I think.

We'll see. I don't think I'm done with Mark and Carl yet. Stay tuned.

    Renewal

It was nice to finally write a chapter where Mark is happy after all the angst of the previous chapters. He deserved it.

Thanks. I think there are more stories about Mark percolating away in my mind somewhere. Stay tuned.
  9. Thank you Robert. It's nice to hear your feedback. I'm glad those emotions came through.
  10. Thank you for reading. I appreciate the comment.

We're nearing the end of this phase of Mark's story. I'll have a brief epilogue soon to wind it up. But, I'm mulling over a sequel set a few years later; still thinking about the details. I know I'm very slow getting these chapters online; real life intrudes on my hobbies. I'm glad you enjoyed the story. Stay tuned.

“So, what are you going to do now?” Kim asked. We were sitting in a coffee shop in Peterborough a few days after I had returned from my final meeting with Carl. I had just told her about Carl's divorce and his new girlfriend. I left out the part about his proposal to go to bed with me in my hotel. “I'm just going to lie low for awhile, I think,” I said. “Oddly enough, I'm not as upset about it now as I thought I would be. I'm more peeved than anything else.” “Peeved is good,” she said. “You're

  14. Very nicely done, Parker. One of the things I admire about your writing is your attention to detail. The scene with the judge is so realistic because you have taken the time to describe the legal details and write the courtroom-style dialogue between the judge and Mr Stevenson. You have obviously done your research, and it really helps set the scene for the reader.

Thanks for the review, Cole. I know a few people who reacted strongly to the movie like I did - I'm glad I was able to get that feeling across for you in this chapter.

After the confrontation with Carl, I returned to Ravenbridge and spent a few weeks in seclusion nursing my wounds. I emerged from my self-imposed isolation only to go to school and rehearsals for the play. I was devastated that Carl had dismissed me, and for a long time I alternated between anger at him for his callousness and regret for not having had the courage to act on my feelings for him years ago when we might have had a chance. Kim tried to cheer me up and checked in on me regularly. It
  19. Finally, Andy's story arc approaches some personal resolution/redemption. It's been a long time coming! Well done.
  20. Beautiful.
  21. I really liked the way you wrote the scene where Zander came out to his parents - very touching and heartwarming. Sadly, lots of parents don't react that way.
  22. Thanks, Tim - I appreciate the compliment.

    About Carl

Thanks for your review, Timothy. It does suck that two young men found it impossible to be together. Lots of people are in that situation. It's very sad.

    The Partner Track

Thanks for your insight, shamayne. I agree with you that "society" is only partly to blame for the situation Mark and Carl are in, but Carl has to accept a lot of the responsibility. He could have committed to being with Mark before his marriage, but wouldn't take that step. After his marriage, he wants to have his cake and eat it too, so to speak.
