Indeed! Though at least Neredos was able to put it to rest himself, instead of knowing it could be used by others in a harmful way. It's what he always would have done with it, if he faced his own mortality.

It was more that certain details were new to Veil, or at least that's what I was going for. I think Master Vinh is secretly my favorite character, for secretly no longer, anyway.

Above the tumultuous sea, the sky swarmed with demons. The cloud was as thick as mosquitoes over a bog, though these pests were far more dangerous than any mere insect, and even more bloodthirsty as well. Those in power invariably wish to stay in power and will seize every opportunity to ensure it.
