I found that those who live in these European countries go out of their way to help you if you try to speak their language. A simple good morning or thank you in their language will bring a smile on their face.

Colin was and will be amazed at Barcelona. He will be taking a lot of photos. I wonder how many he will ask Armand to paint on that club wall.

If you ever get a chance to go to Barcelona, you must see that Church. My host told me at Christmas time, they have a festival in front of that church. It is a magnificent building

We arrived in Barcelona a little past noon. Taking a taxi to our hotel, I explained to Colin that there is only one museum and features paintings by Picasso. We checked in at our hotel, Hotel Bagues, which is unique in that they have a swimming pool on the roof. I think you have summed that up extremely well. Armand and Colin will look upon Carlos and his family as a distant relative. Wouldn't be surprised if Carlos doesn't visit Armand and Colin in the States

Armand is the type of person who draws people toward him. I'm sure you know someone who you like to be around or someone who likes to be around you., A good friend, for example. I like people who are honest with me but not in a cruel way.

One nice thing about stories that have a thread of truth, you can ride that thread as if you were the one creating that thread. Close your eyes, and picture yourself in the story.

Carlos was excited to see Armand. Probably the drawing that Armand left with Carlos kept the image of Armand alive to him. I think Carlos will be meeting Armand again in the future

Carlos and his family knew Armand when Armand spent his summer in Spain. I'm sure he ate there often enough to make friends and to sketch Carlos. On my travels, l ate in this restaurant and the lamb was delicious, we were a party of four so we had to wait a little longer. Carlos at that time had a lamb that he walked among the patrons with. I always wanted to go back,. but the group I was with were anxious to move on.

In my travels, I found the same thing. Local people actually wanted to talk to when they knew you didn't speak their language. I found them interesting and to this day I still communicate with the friends I made over 20 years ago.

As I was getting dressed, I told Colin that this night was payment for putting up with my museum tours. “I know seeing so many museums can be a pain for some people, and the cliche of seeing one museum is like seeing all museums could have been your comment. You haven’t seemed to be bored at all. So tonight, I have arranged for you to have a great dinner and a surprise.” “Are we going back to that restaurant where we had Paella?” “No, tonight we are going to a four-star restaurant.”

You will enjoy Italy. Look for local restaurants. I walked into a restaurant that was off of the tourist path. The waiter came and took my order, he came back in a few minutes and told me the chef said what I order wasn't fresh. He brought me a dish that I had never had. I am third generation Italian, my grandparents emigrated. When I described to my grandmother what I ate. She and my grandfather laughed. She told me it was the food of the people. The following Sunday,. she made it for me. It brought all of my Italian experiences back to me.

You have bought back some great memories. If you have the time, you could spend an entire day walking and eating. What a fantastic day you would have. I'm glad to bring those memories back for you.

Most of us are more interested in different foods. Traveling through Europe one can be exposed to different foods. Best to do it with friends or as Colin and Armand.
