Your comment brought back a memory of a restaurant in New York that had photographs of famous people. There was an all night restaurant in Fort Lauderdale that had photo of famous people who ate there. The owner in Fort Lauderdale wasn't a philanthropist. I'm sure his photos were taken by his staff.

I had frog legs, think a thin bone covered with a thin piece of meat and then fried. They are expensive, the chef said that the cost was the equipment they needed when they fried them, they kept jumping out of the frying pan..😀 I had squid in Puerto Rico, and it became a favorite. It is in the preparation.

Have you ever tried eating those items or is it the idea based on what they look like? I have introduced several people to escargot. I had fried oysters one time and they were delicious. As to clams, fried okay,. steamed out of the shells, you would have to hold me down. I wouldn't be surprised that when these boys look at each other, there would be stars in their eyes.

I think that the guys put up with it because they were there to enjoy there friends, not to hit on the girls. Maybe that is teh problem, the girls behaved like that to get attention.

Yes, I like escargot and have introduced it to several friends. It was close your eyes and open your mouth, then I lost my escargot and had to order more. I had escargot in a cream sauce in Brussels, it was different but also delicious.

You wonder how people like that are able to have friends. In my life, I have never eaten from another's plate,. even if they offer, nor permitted anyone to eat from my plate. For me it isn't only bad manners but it is the attitude that tell them this is normal.
