It is not a good day already. Depression sucks ... i am halfway down the rabbit hole and i am tired of trying to crawl back out. i am holding up my hands and letting go ... sliding down to the bottom. Don't bother looking for me.

I remember when Ripley was still alive, getting up early to walk him when Michael was on nights. It was around 5am and there are townhouses around here with high fences.. and this one morning the dog was going nuts cuz what came over the fence was about 10 raccoons ... like a herd of them.. some big boys too.. they would have torn the dog apart, they outweighed him by at least 10 or 15lbs. I dont think i'll forget that.

Right, i will go to the dining room and log on for work shortly. Fingers crossed everything is working because it is a bitch to get stuff fixed now ... and no managers are around on Holidays. In todays Ask An Author i've mentioned the World Wars and our pandemic... no, you cannot compare them, but each has affected people in different ways. In one documentary we've watched someone said they expected that a lot of books would be written right after the end of WWII. That wasn't remotely the case. I know myself, i have zero desire right now to write about what this disease has done. i wrote about the aftermath of such a virus or maybe a worse one in After The Past. Maybe I'll write about COVID19 one day, but not now. Like the Marines who did write, Helmet for My Pillow (Robert Leckie), With The Old Breed (EB Sledge), it took them time before they could write their story. I've been in a weird spot mentally lately thinking about men, and these men who fought back then and all the crap that is happening today... so i will stop rambling on and leave this...

i'll try and think of some questions ... Thanks for this AAA, C. And thanks to all the authors who chose to share. It helps to know how others are feeling. We've been watching a lot about WWII lately. Michael is very into it but mainly specific years and about flight and the Luftwaffe. So He has a lot of knowledge (and about 100 books) but not much about the Pacific theatre. So we've been watching a lot. There is a point to this, i promise. I started reading books by Robert Leckie and some others who were Marines in the Pacific. I'm not comparing that conflict with today's pandemic, other than it took the men who were there and fought a long time to write about it. And people didn't want to read what they were already living through. I think the same thing will happen here. We will write about it at some point. Maybe not right away, but we will.

The only day Chat/Email is closed is Christmas Day. I worked New years day this year.. made $500 in overtime. I wont get that much for this holiday but for Xmas Day and New Years day you get 2.5x your salary.

So ... this story is going to be fairly long. We are closing off chapter 12 and have scenes planned for 13. This story is one of people but also of nature so it has to be written around a natural cycle of things. Our story opens in the Spring / March and currently we are in July ... 13 chapters to write 4 months. If this pace continues we could be looking at 40ish chapters. We have a LOT of story to write still. We have a calendar, a timeline and have plotted major events to write around. I cannot promise when it will be finished ... but i can promise it will be worth it. BTW .. it will not be posted with chapters of 1000 words only. Most are 4,000 to 5,000 words.

Good morning, DiCsters ... Happy Tuesday. Tomorrow is Canada Day ... a Holiday. But i decided i'd work ... i'm home anyway ... can't do much with the lockdown in place really so... I chose to work and earn some OT or time in lieu, haven't decided which yet. i booked Thursday off, so i have a long weekend. i hope your Tuesday goes well...

Aw thanks. Honestly, to me there is little choice. Live or die .. and i am too curious to know what will happen next to die. And people don't how much strength they have inside until they need it. My shrink tells me it's okay to quit for a day or two ... beyond that, get up, do something. Cook, bake, go back to work, then get your ass in here and talk to me. haha.. He's a funny guy and he knows me very well. Just never quit.
