    Chapter 18

NICK June turned out to be a very busy and eventful month. It started with the trip to Disneyland and the visit by the Joseph and the Mulraineys. Jorge was on a T-ball team (Sam was convinced he was major league material). I had been accepted into the Potters’ Guild and participated in their spring show. Sam’s company was a vendor at the annual international boat show. Without Maria’s help we would have been floundering. Gary (Sam’s boss) had hired another salesman who was covering the la

    Chapter 17

Hi CHS Glad you enjoyed Joseph's point of view. He'd gotten into my head as an individual so it was fun to give him his own voice. He's still just an inexperienced kid, but he's got a great support network:) Thank you so much for your feedback, as always, it means a lot to me. Z

    Chapter 17

JOSEPH Joseph heard Sam whoop for joy when he recounted his success with Tyler’s parents. He was tempted to tell Sam about ‘the kiss’ too, but something made him hold back. It felt better to keep that a secret—a special secret shared only between him and Tyler. Sam passed the phone to Nick who was equally as congratulatory as Sam, but in his own, less ebullient, manner. When Nick said sincerely, “I’m really happy for you, Joseph,” Joseph choked up. Affirmation wasn’t something he’d had muc

    Chapter 16

Thanks, Robert. Joseph is a sweet kid, and he deserves a break, don't you think? The next chapter is devoted to him. Thanks for your encouragement. It keeps me going Z

    Chapter 16

Yes, you are right, I stand chastened. But I'm glad you're enjoying the story nonetheless. Your feedback is very appreciated! Thanks, the next chapter will be out soon Z

    Chapter 16

NICK Joseph is doing well. By all accounts he’s getting at least B’s in his classes. He and Tyler are still ‘boyfriends.’ The Colonel reports that Joseph and Tyler are behaving responsibly. They are not yet ‘out’ at school, although LeShawn and his girlfriend are in on the secret. Joseph just reminded us we’d approved a visit from him and Tyler. Which raised a problem. Did Tyler’s parents know about the boys’ relationship? If they didn’t, then Sam and I sure as hell weren’t going to be
  12. Another powerful chapter! I'm really enjoying this story

    Chapter 15

Thanks for the kind words, CHS. I really appreciate your reviews. Yeah, I wanted to create a 'good' environment for Joseph. Perhaps I'm too much of an idealist, but I like Joseph, so I want good things for him. (But that doesn't stop him from being a typical surly teenager!) As for the art, I think we are all 'artists' in our own way, and sometimes all it takes is inspiration and encouragement. Thanks again, Z

    Chapter 15

Thanks Robert, I'm having a lot of fun putting myself in Joseph's shoes and seeing him got from sullen to happy in the blink of an eye. So typical of teenagers, and so much fun. And I enjoy making my characters playful--humor can do wonders in a relationship Thank you so much for your reviews, they mean an awful lot to me. Z

    Chapter 15

Joseph’s declaration that he might have a boyfriend knocked the wind out of me. For a moment I was too stunned to speak. My mind was trying to process the million and one permutations of that statement and coming up blank. What could I say that would offer non-judgemental guidance? This parenting stuff sure wasn’t easy. “Nick....” “Oh, sorry, Joseph, you just kinda surprised me there. Um...tell me about him. Is it LeShawn?” “No. One of LeShawn’s friends. I think LeShawn likes girls.”

    Nightmares

I so much enjoy reading about C & R, their ups and downs, as well as their developing relationship. I must admit, though, I chuckled about the robber cliffhanger. I figure that guy's got as much chance as a snowball in hell Well done!

    Chapter 14

Thanks, CHS, for you kind comments and insights. I'm playing around with 2 themes at the moment: creativity and family (the less conventional ones--and the question of whether good nurturing can overcome a bad experience). Always a pleasure to get your feedback! Z

Thanks Robert. Your words give me so much encouragement. I'm so sorry not to have replied to your review sooner. Joseph makes a major appearance in ch 14. I hope you like him.

    Chapter 13

Thanks so much for the review, CHS. I'm sorry I took so long to reply. I took your words to heart, about being attracted to Leslie. I practically quoted you in the next chapter. LOL. Thanks! It's so great to hear from you.
  20. I love the domesticity that's developing between C & R. Moving in together, buying presents together.... (Glad Clayton's traitorous dick finally behaved!) Great story Robert, always fun to read another chapter. Thanks!

    Chapter 14

I followed Leslie into his lair. His movements were cat-like, almost feminine. His ass was undulating in the harem pants. Given his slim build and lithe walk, I figured he must be into Yoga. The house’s living room, like its owner, hadn’t been updated in at least 30 years. The walls were panelled in dark wood—probably walnut—and the threadbare furniture was overstuffed and comfortable looking. All the coffee and end tables were covered with books and magazines. Shelves were overflowing wi
  22. Lovely chapter, Robert. I so enjoy reading about C & R. They are both such endearing characters. Let us know how Ben is doing, now that he's been rescued. I'm looking forward to hearing about an adventure to the French Quarter too! Merci beaucoup. Z

    Chapter 13

When I got back with the food Joseph attacked it. Poor guy was so hungry the sub sandwich disappeared in seconds. As did the chips, then the chocolate bar. “Joseph, I’m going to call my husband and get his help. He was a SEAL and knows a whole network of ex-military guys he can call on. I call them the Borg, like from Star Trek.” At my use of the word ‘husband’ Joseph paused his eating and looked at me askance. “You need medical help for that face, and possibly for your ribs. You might h

    Chapter 12

Thanks for reading and reviewing Robert. I agree. Rescuing someone can lead to trouble. Wonder what Sam will say to Nick's shenanigans? Again, my sincerest thanks for your encouragement:)

    Chapter 12

Thanks for continuing to read and provide reviews. I really like hearing from you. Nick is destined to find strays. Some protagonists stumble on murders, but Nick finds those who need help. I totally agree with you about trouble. I saw that happen with a friend of mine who tried to help some homeless Mexican kids and he got them in trouble with a local street gang! T
