September C S R Discussion Day: My Last Day Without You by QuinnDK
QuinnDK commented on Cia's blog entry in Gay Authors News
Also, to follow up on my answer to the last question - there is a huge reference to MLDWY in the most recent chapter of Safeguard, and I'm surprised no one's pointed it out yet (or maybe those two stories don't have much of an overlap in readers 😅).- 7 comments

September C S R Discussion Day: My Last Day Without You by QuinnDK
QuinnDK commented on Cia's blog entry in Gay Authors News
Thank you so much for featuring MLDWY as this month's story, and for posting this interview! I wrote this story as a queer take on a Harlequin paperback novel, something steamy and a little dramatic with a that you can finish reading in one afternoon. I'm really thankful for the feedback and encouragement it's gotten from readers - and if you're still in the process of reading it, I hope you enjoy your time with Henrik and Ezra!- 7 comments

<416-555-6464: Hello. Is this Rowan Watson's number? --Grant><Rowan: Holy crap, the mountain man texted me! Welcome to the 21st century. Yes, it's Rowan. Thanks for your number, I've saved it in my contacts (if that's okay with you). Also you don't need to sign your name!><Grant: Sorry, this is new to me. By all means save my number. I should have given it to you first. I... enjoyed seeing you last night.><Rowan: I enjoyed it too It was the most entertaining thing to happen

Grant was drenched in rain by the time they reached his backyard. He'd been trying cover up Rowan as they struggled through the woods. But it was in vain. The younger man hadn't brought his jacket and just moments into the storm his t-shirt was completely soaked through. Rowan shivered and stumbled his way into the bungalow. Grant immediately threw a wool blanket around him and rubbed his arms with long, firm strokes. He wasn't letting anyone get hypothermia on his watch. "Thanks," Rowan managed

From: Rowan <rwatson@torontopubliclibrary.ca>To: Neil <nburroughs@torontopubliclibrary.ca>Subject: Home Library Services driver assignmentHi Neil,I was wondering how HLS decides which driver gets what delivery route? And also how do you become a delivery driver? And also can drivers select their own routes? P.S. A woman has been staring daggers at me for the past five minutes because I wont "let her" read Bridget Jones' Diary. ***From: Neil To: Rowan Subject: Re: Home Library Service

Rowan took a seat on the living room sofa while Grant dried off his chest with a towel. Clearing his throat, Rowan became very interested in examining the stitches of the sofa cushions. He hadn't been around such casual partial nudity since his last gym visit. A year and a half ago."Coffee?" Grant asked. "Oh, yeah, sure." He realized a moment too late that he'd hidden the movement of his lips. He corrected his posture and the position of his chin. "Yes, please. Thank you."Grant draped the heavy

Absolutely not! I'm bouncing around a few things at once, that's just how my brain works.
-
Uh oh, it looks like I've developed a reputation... in my defense, I do have one completed story! What can I say, I just really needed to get Grant out of my head and share him with the world...
-
I wouldn't call Grant a bear, but yes, he's certainly hairy.

"Ow."Rowan banged his left knee against the return bin and spilled the stack of mystery novels he'd been clutching to his chest. Perfect. Not only was he a dead tired librarian, he was a clumsy one too."Who put the return bin out here?"Nobody answered him, of course, because he was only one of two employees left to see the library's night shift to its end. The other was Neil, a senior librarian. Rowan more often than not found him face down on his desk around this hour. Rowan stared at the mess

When young librarian Rowan finds a letter hidden in a book, his curiosity gets the better of him. He tracks down the owner: an ex-Navy SEAL living alone in the woods. Grant is the rugged man of anyone’s dreams, but he’s sullen and withdrawn – a damaged hero struggling with the loss of his hearing. Sensing a man in need of company, Rowan starts learning sign language to communicate with him, and an unconventional friendship forms. But their differences may be too vast to overcome… even as an intense, forbidden attraction simmers behind every stolen glance and signed word.

If You Can't Stand the Heat
QuinnDK commented on QuinnDK's story chapter in If You Can't Stand the Heat
I've got my own plans for them, don't you worry! Related: in my mind, Ezra would get a kick out of Aiden and Logan and tell them to couple up already. Henrik would find them both overwhelming and strange.- 25 comments

Thursday, May 25. 7:12 am.You're expecting me to wake up with a hangover, aren't you? Bet you're expecting paragraphs of tortured prose describing the erupting volcano that is my skull, the abject misery of morning-after dehydration, the spinning rooms and tilting floors and oh god make it stop I have to puke. I'm not going to indulge you, you sadist. But know this: I was begging for something as sweet and pleasant as the above paragraph in comparison to how bad my hangover actually was. Are you

Another Nhl Player's Thoughts About Gay Athletes.
QuinnDK replied to Aceinthehole's topic in The Lounge
Hockey fan myself (go Red Wings!) The NHL is much more progressive than people think. That's a wonderful statement from Brad Marchand. Hopefully, we'll get an out and proud NHL player one day... -
The following is an unedited transcript of a phone interview conducted between a Marvel Comics representative and Ezra Grayson on March 15: Marvel Comics: Hi, Mr. Grayson? Ezra Grayson: Hi. Sorry, I just got your email this morning and I totally thought it was a prank. Are you really from Marvel? MC: Er, yes. Is now a good time? {Long pause} MC: Mr. Grayson? EG: A good time for what? {Long pause} MC: We... received your portfolio. EG: Oh. Right. MC: Despite being told numerous times th

Warmth enveloped Ezra as he emerged from the most comfortable sleep of his life. He turned on the soft bed and found Henrik beside him, the morning sun highlighting the sculpted planes of his sleeping face. The motion of their bodies stirred Henrik and he wrapped an arm securely around Ezra's waist. Their naked bodies touched, making Ezra's senses sing. "Happy Valentine's Day." Henrik's voice escaped in a low, satisfied mumble. Ezra blinked against sleep, against worry to take in the man's squ

The following articles are excerpts from Gawker: The Viking Scored Last Night (In More Ways Than One) 9:41 am, February 14 Well, uh, Happy Valentine's Day? To recap for our readers who were marooned on a desert island or stranded on Mars yesterday: the saga of 'Hezra' came, saw, and conquered. An (accidental?) bedroom picture of Portland Knights team captain Henrik Ford cuddling up to former PopViral writer Ezra Grayson leaked on Twitter and oh, the pearls that were clutched. What followed

"I don't have time for this," Ezra said. He couldn't keep the tremor out of his voice. "Then I'll try to be succinct." Patrick sounded identical to his Dateline interview, frosty and precise. "I'm quite aware of what's transpired between you and Henrik today. I believe most of the continent is. I wish to impart some advice, as someone who was once intimately entrenched in Henrik's so-called 'secret life'." Ezra knew he should have ended the call the moment Patrick made his identity known, but

"I fucked up. I fucked everything up." Ezra was barely aware that he was back inside his sister's townhouse, staring blankly at her carpeted floor as Violet quickly arranged a platter of Indian food in front of him. "You need to eat something. And you didn't fuck anything up." "Vi, I saw his face. I saw how done he was. I should've fought harder for him. Or maybe I fought too hard. I should've-" The heat behind his eyes came back. It stung this time, vicious and sudden. Ezra collapsed into so

All expression vanished from Henrik's face. "Coach." "I gotta tell you something, Ford." Taggert lumbered down the patio steps and lit a cigarette. He took a drag, a habit based more on utility than pleasure. "Out of everyone on the team, you're the last man I ever expected to treat this day off like Spring Break." Henrik tried to steady his breathing, which escaped his throat in low, frustrated grunts. As coach and captain, their relationship oscillated between respect and defiance quite freq

Wednesday, May 24. 4:10 pm. Aiden Kashima's Temporary Place-to-Crash Wishlist: 1. A kitchen that's at least big enough for me to comfortably lift both my arms 2. Easy-going, laidback roommates who are either single or have silent lovers 3. ... 4. Yeah, that's pretty much it I hope that list doesn't make me sound demanding or difficult. The only reason I'd like a decent-sized kitchen is so I can practice recipes for class, and the cook stations on campus get snatched up super quick this lat

Tuesday, May 24. 4:30 am. I really hate it when books begin with the main character waking up. It's like, can't the author think of a less cliche way to introduce their story? Reading about someone's morning routine is as interesting as baking plain shortbread (trust me, I've made enough this semester to feed all of Canada. Two Canadas, actually). So I'm a little embarrassed that this particular chapter of this particular story in my particular life started with me, well... waking up. In my d

Cocky firefighter Logan O'Donoghue is a total hothead. And that’s precisely why Aiden Kashima, a young culinary student and aspiring pastry chef, can’t stand him. But after a devastating fire destroys his apartment, Aiden finds himself taking up a bed in Logan’s fire station. The tension and lust between them quickly blazes into a red-hot romance. Aiden may have a talent for baking sweets, but first he has to learn that love doesn't come with a recipe.

I guess it would be difficult to explain if you're not entrenched in American social media, which rabidly clings on to anything mildly controversial (in fact, there's a throwaway line in Chapter 8 about how a European country like Italy would not give a shit about what's currently happening to them). People aren't angry with Henrik or Ezra - but they are fascinated and want to know more. The cult of sports celebrity in North America can be really, really overwhelming.
-
For a moment, Henrik couldn't speak or breathe. A hand tugged on his and he came spiralling back down to earth."We have to go," Ezra said. He pulled Henrik away from the lobby vestibule and into an adjacent corridor. The furious snaps of camera shutters shrieked behind them like thousands of cockroaches scuttling across a linoleum floor. "Where?" He tried not to let the sound get under his skin."Out the back. Through the parking lot." Ezra spoke with more focus than Henrik had ever heard from hi
