  1. The adventure continues...
  2. The image of the two dudes, I was able to poach off tumblr. It's (maybe not unsurprisingly) difficult to find romantic images of men where one of them has a beard, the other doesn't, and it's not pornographic. The text and the bokeh effect are all me, though! Hey hohochan657, thanks so much for reading, and for all your kind words! I'm guessing you found MLDWY on Nifty first? I've been so neglectful with updating on that site, hopefully the readers there aren't too mad. I'm hard at work on my next stories, so hopefully you'll have enough breath until a new chapter is posted. Blue Age is still a little ways off, but you can expect a Fire & Icing update soon! I would love to visit Hong Kong one day - I'm half-Chinese and have relatives there that I've never met.
  3. Coming... not quite soon... but in the near distant future:
  4. Great suggestion northie, I've added a little chapter end note. The more people visiting GA's forums the better.
  5. There is now an epilogue! You beat me to it, northie! But is this the end? The final final end? Well... My focus right now is finishing Fire and Icing (I haven't forgotten about Blue Age either), but I would also like to announce that Henrik and Ezra will return in a new story of their own soon. (My Last Month Without You? My Last Year? Title pending!) Since MLDWY tilted toward drama more often than not, I'm intending to make the sequel a little lighter and breezier in tone, but with a lot of romance and sex to spare. So, more romcom, less angst. Hopefully you'll all find the epilogue reflects that! Have I mentioned how much I appreciate the GayAuthors community? As readers and peers and supporters, you guys can't be beat. I'm really lucky to have found this place.
  6. The following is an unedited transcript of a phone interview conducted between a Marvel Comics representative and Ezra Grayson on March 15: Marvel Comics: Hi, Mr. Grayson? Ezra Grayson: Hi. Sorry, I just got your email this morning and I totally thought it was a prank. Are you really from Marvel? MC: Er, yes. Is now a good time? {Long pause} MC: Mr. Grayson? EG: A good time for what? {Long pause} MC: We... received your portfolio. EG: Oh. Right. MC: Despite being told numerous times th
  7. Well! The last chapter is up, which marks my first completed story here at GayAuthors. I've crossposted My Last Day Without You to other sites, but it was the extremely kind and encouraging community at GA that compelled me to finish. Ezra and Henrik are two people who've been rolling around in my mind for a really long time and it's been really gratifying to share their story with everyone. So thanks so much to everyone who's stuck around since I posted the first chapter on Valentine's Day this year. Who knows, we might see Hezra in some form or another in some other story...
  8. Warmth enveloped Ezra as he emerged from the most comfortable sleep of his life. He turned on the soft bed and found Henrik beside him, the morning sun highlighting the sculpted planes of his sleeping face. The motion of their bodies stirred Henrik and he wrapped an arm securely around Ezra's waist. Their naked bodies touched, making Ezra's senses sing. "Happy Valentine's Day." Henrik's voice escaped in a low, satisfied mumble. Ezra blinked against sleep, against worry to take in the man's squ
  9. Alright, here's a little reward for everyone who's been so patient, for suffering (so to speak) through the last couple of chapters. Chapter 11 and 12 are out! I'm keeping my mouth shut until you guys read it.
  10. The following articles are excerpts from Gawker: The Viking Scored Last Night (In More Ways Than One) 9:41 am, February 14 Well, uh, Happy Valentine's Day? To recap for our readers who were marooned on a desert island or stranded on Mars yesterday: the saga of 'Hezra' came, saw, and conquered. An (accidental?) bedroom picture of Portland Knights team captain Henrik Ford cuddling up to former PopViral writer Ezra Grayson leaked on Twitter and oh, the pearls that were clutched. What followed
  11. "I don't have time for this," Ezra said. He couldn't keep the tremor out of his voice. "Then I'll try to be succinct." Patrick sounded identical to his Dateline interview, frosty and precise. "I'm quite aware of what's transpired between you and Henrik today. I believe most of the continent is. I wish to impart some advice, as someone who was once intimately entrenched in Henrik's so-called 'secret life'." Ezra knew he should have ended the call the moment Patrick made his identity known, but
  12. Hey, maybe I'm hinting at the sequel - Ezra takes up gymnastics!
  13. As many of you already know, Chapter 10 is out. I wish I could respond to the feedback I've been getting but I fear I'll risk spoiling everyone. I'm just very grateful so many people have been along for the ride, and that (hopefully!) you're all gonna stick to the landing with me. Henrik sends his love:

    Run

"I fucked up. I fucked everything up." Ezra was barely aware that he was back inside his sister's townhouse, staring blankly at her carpeted floor as Violet quickly arranged a platter of Indian food in front of him. "You need to eat something. And you didn't fuck anything up." "Vi, I saw his face. I saw how done he was. I should've fought harder for him. Or maybe I fought too hard. I should've-" The heat behind his eyes came back. It stung this time, vicious and sudden. Ezra collapsed into so
  15. I absolutely consider it a compliment that people have been so invested in the story that they can respond as passionately as they have. You guys are really savvy readers, and the feedback I've gotten has been so smart and thoughtful. Henrik and Ezra are both human, they make mistakes and say things they shouldn't say. Henrik's being put under tremendous pressure and he's still a rookie when it comes to relationships. Conflict between the two of them was inevitable. It's not easy to read (and it wasn't easy to write) but it's necessary, in my opinion. If things come too easy for your romantic leads, the ending wont feel earned. (Whatever that ending may be, I mean... )
  16. So, after a brief hiatus, Chapter 9 is up. It took me quite a long time to get this one out. Emotionally, it was exhausting to write. Without giving too much away, I'm anticipating that a lot of readers are going to be frustrated or upset by what happens. All I want to say is that there's definitely an end game planned, and I hope that you all stick with Ezra and Henrik till the end. (And thank you for sticking with them so far. )
  17. All expression vanished from Henrik's face. "Coach." "I gotta tell you something, Ford." Taggert lumbered down the patio steps and lit a cigarette. He took a drag, a habit based more on utility than pleasure. "Out of everyone on the team, you're the last man I ever expected to treat this day off like Spring Break." Henrik tried to steady his breathing, which escaped his throat in low, frustrated grunts. As coach and captain, their relationship oscillated between respect and defiance quite freq
  18. Wednesday, May 24. 4:10 pm. Aiden Kashima's Temporary Place-to-Crash Wishlist: 1. A kitchen that's at least big enough for me to comfortably lift both my arms 2. Easy-going, laidback roommates who are either single or have silent lovers 3. ... 4. Yeah, that's pretty much it I hope that list doesn't make me sound demanding or difficult. The only reason I'd like a decent-sized kitchen is so I can practice recipes for class, and the cook stations on campus get snatched up super quick this lat
  19. Tuesday, May 24. 4:30 am. I really hate it when books begin with the main character waking up. It's like, can't the author think of a less cliche way to introduce their story? Reading about someone's morning routine is as interesting as baking plain shortbread (trust me, I've made enough this semester to feed all of Canada. Two Canadas, actually). So I'm a little embarrassed that this particular chapter of this particular story in my particular life started with me, well... waking up. In my d

    Fire and Icing

Cocky firefighter Logan O'Donoghue is a total hothead. And that’s precisely why Aiden Kashima, a young culinary student and aspiring pastry chef, can’t stand him. But after a devastating fire destroys his apartment, Aiden finds himself taking up a bed in Logan’s fire station. The tension and lust between them quickly blazes into a red-hot romance. Aiden may have a talent for baking sweets, but first he has to learn that love doesn't come with a recipe.

    About Time

I guess it would be difficult to explain if you're not entrenched in American social media, which rabidly clings on to anything mildly controversial (in fact, there's a throwaway line in Chapter 8 about how a European country like Italy would not give a shit about what's currently happening to them). People aren't angry with Henrik or Ezra - but they are fascinated and want to know more. The cult of sports celebrity in North America can be really, really overwhelming.
  22. Well, Ezra is young and not thinking rationally, it took the encounter with PopViral to make him realize that. Plus, I wanted to show that Ezra was slowly starting to get over his fear of taking risks (even if it didn't work out in his favour. But that's life!)
  23. For a moment, Henrik couldn't speak or breathe. A hand tugged on his and he came spiralling back down to earth."We have to go," Ezra said. He pulled Henrik away from the lobby vestibule and into an adjacent corridor. The furious snaps of camera shutters shrieked behind them like thousands of cockroaches scuttling across a linoleum floor. "Where?" He tried not to let the sound get under his skin."Out the back. Through the parking lot." Ezra spoke with more focus than Henrik had ever heard from hi
  24. Oh the whole story is one big guilty pleasure for me. I took a lot of inspiration from modern Harlequin romance novels, actually. I want it to have that same kind of appeal. It's definitely not an insult to say you see it as a film or series! That's the dream of most authors, isn't it? Henrik is modelled off an actual NHL player named Henrik Zetterberg (his picture is up there in the original post). I've had a couple of actors in mind while writing him too, such as Ken Duken (a very handsome German actor): Clive Standen is probably a better physical match for Henrik, though: Ezra would be much tougher to cast! He's younger and he'd have to be an actor who can be vulnerable and boyish, but likeable enough that you believe in his romance with Henrik. The inspiration for the name came from the actor Ezra Miller, who I think has all those qualities, but he's aged a bit out of the role since the last movie I saw him in. I'd be very open to suggestions for who you guys see in either role, though.

    Chapter 1

Late to the party but I'm glad I found this story! (You drew me in by using my favourite song as the title...)
