    Chapter 6

    Indeed!
  2. Geron Kees

    Chapter 6

Battle plans are like pizzas. Your can order one with all the toppings you want, and still they'll manage to leave one of them off!
  3. Geron Kees

    Chapter 5

You're prescient, then. Wait until you read the next chapter and you'll see why I say that.

    Chapter 6

Lewis Carroll created the term boojum, if I remember right. I just borrowed it without his permission. Boojums have distinct personalities. Pyewacket was one who developed a bond with a human being, one that lasted even after that human being was gone. He wasn't a bad sort at all, for a boojum. 😉

    Chapter 6

That line was put in for a purpose.

    Chapter 6

I sure hope so! Nothing more disappointing than a bland rescue!

    Chapter 6

It is not in any way political to describe the wolves among us. The human race has suffered for ages from the will of people with ambition, greed, and a thirst to run or own the whole show. These sort simply don't care about others, don't care who gets hurt or killed, don't care about the things they destroy in their quest to get what they want. It's not in any way a political issue. It's a HUMAN issue, and it has existed for much longer than any political parties have. Hope the show the guys put on is enjoyable!

    Chapter 6

Yep. Think of what Christmas would be like with no elves!

    Chapter 6

I think they're having some fun, too.

    Chapter 5

Thank you. Interestingly, the thinking has long been that most heavy gravity worlds would be likely to produce short, squat beings. Tall aliens would seem more a product of a world with less of a gravitational acceleration. But just because we suppose this doesn't make it true. We are imagining from a perspective of earthly design. The life that other worlds produce will be of a unique design suited to those worlds. Strength is not necessarily bound to gravity. Differences in the way species are built would likely be a primary factor in strength. Different muscular and nervous system architecture could easily result in beings able to access much more strength than we have, size for size. Ragal is of a different ancestry than humans. What he is capable of, physically, only his hairdresser knows for sure!

    Chapter 5

I think anyone would be upset if their one true love was kidnapped by dark forces from another dimension.

    Chapter 5

Stay tuned, same Bat time, same Bat channel!

    Chapter 5

Hmmm. Peaking ahead on other sites?

    Chapter 5

I have no idea what might have occurred in a world that missed the dark ages. It's very possible - likely - that much of the world we know would not exist. Then again, who knows? America, should it have been founded, would likely have been very different than the one we know. But some things are less historical and more cultural, and humans are humans in every reality. An alternate reality could have easily missed the American Revolution and still have football.

    Chapter 5

I get such a sense of deja vu with you sometimes!
  16. Geron Kees

    Chapter 5

Are you suggesting I kill off one of the characters? Do you WANT that much drama? And do you understand the psychological damage it would do to ME? The other reality still has a history, full of soldiers and the like. The word is an old one. They might have been less likely to name a stadium such a thing, you're right. But that's their problem! I rather like 'my dear Hood'. Don't you, my dear Weinerdog?

    Chapter 5

I worry, sometimes, that you'll go one pun too far, and destroy the known universe! 😁
  18. Geron Kees

    Chapter 5

    Yeah. Ain't fiction just great?

    Chapter 4

Probably. Then again, if he's any good with skwish, he already knows what happened to the others and went home!
  20. The small aircar was silent as it streaked through the night, heading for Chicago. Charlie and the others, now wearing the gray body armor provided by Ilessa's people, sat in the rows of seats that ran down each side of the center aisle. At the front of the aircar, a lone Defender sat before a largely automatic set of controls. These would have scarcely provided enough information to run a modern airliner in Charlie's world, but apparently the two small displays in front of the man told him all

    Chapter 1

    Nice start! More?

    Chapter 4

    No peeking behind the curtain!

    Chapter 4

Uh oh! You know, I'll bet Ruedi is still there! Poor guy!

    Chapter 4

Interestingly, my experience with boojums is that their destructive tendencies eventually do them in. Hate has a way of consuming itself!
  25. "This is Nara," Hendrik said, as the woman entered the room. "She's a teleporter. She will take us to the portal." The woman was young, with red hair and bright green eyes. She appraised the group of people before her with a calculating stare, and then nodded. "A lot of people to move at one time, but I think I can do it." "Will we be going far?" Robin asked. Hendrik smiled at him. "I hope you won't mind if we keep some things secret from you for now. I have to obey the rules and
