I am always surprised how well people with different likes can blend when they share just one or a few interests. What we see in someone special isn't something we can always define. What do you call it when someone smiles, and it just makes you give a little sigh, and your heart feel warm? You can say, "I love his smile," but it goes deeper than just what you see with your eyes. Where those visual signals go inside our brains, what special places they touch - that's one of the mysteries of love. You can see a thousand people smile, but that one special one is just different. My feeling is that, once you fall in love with a smile, other things are much easier to accept.

A lot of people scoff at the notion that a first love can be the one love. But it does happen. In a world of seven billion people constantly mixing, the odds that two will meet that will be a perfect match for each other is more mathematically feasible than you might imagine. Don't ya just love numbers!

Big cities have something for everyone, and if you're the sort that does not require open spaces, forests, and the occasional mountain or two, cities work just fine. NYC felt confining to me, somehow. I really did not like walking among all those towering buildings. I always felt like I was at the bottom of a deep hole. European cities do not tower so, for the most part. Three floors is the average height of most buildings, with a small city center with a few larger ones. I guess it's what you are used to. But I can say that, as far as NYC goes, I came, I saw...and then I went home. Thank you for the kind comment.

They do. When we wish for something, it moves our thoughts into paths that sometimes bring those wishes to us. Wishes are subtle things, but they're important to what makes us human.

It'd kind of sad that so many parents are portrayed negatively in gay writing. Acceptance was obviously hard for many LBGTQ people to come by. My family never even blinked at how I turned out. That's the way families should be. It's only sad that it's not true for everyone.

Algebra is not necessary to a writer of anything but textbooks. For what you write, common sense and a good heart have always served you just fine!

Richard Feynman was a one-of-a-kind, with a very interesting mind. I always thought that small verse to be his signature, of a sort. No. I did want to show that Griffin was enough of a thoughtful person to suppose that his relationship with Benny might not last, but it very quickly came to be that he could not imagine the two of them apart. This thought was sort of the opposite construction of what young people feel in their first 'serious' relationship, that it will be forever - only later to find out that it is not.

The story is about a very bright boy dealing with himself, and others, and growing into a man. There are some very bright, gifted young people out there, and being so bright and so young at the same time is not very easy. What seems to happen, thankfully, for many, is that those around them successfully engage them, and tend to normalize them a little - make them see the world from less of a lofty perspective - over time. It does not decrease their reasoning intelligence, but it increases their life intelligence. Love, of course, helps more than a little!

I have always felt that what we read and enjoy speaks something about our natures. Stories we like are reflections of our own hopes and dreams. This one was just another mirror for something you see in yourself, that is special. Thank you for commenting.
