    Chapter 2

Thanks, Gary. I kind of think that Jack would have shrugged off the definition of 'hero'. I think his motivations were simply an expression of love and practicality. It's hard to get over on a guy who feels that any price is worth it to ensure the safety of people he cares about. And a future he cares about, by extension. Hope you enjoy the rest of the tale, too.

    Chapter 1

Thank you. Hope you still feel the same way at the end!

    Chapter 1

Hi, CG! Nice to see you. Pull up a chair and grab a submachine gun. Keep an eye on the purple fella in the corner. He bites!

    Chapter 1

Thanks for rooting for these guys. They are out to prove that nice guys don't always finish last.

    Chapter 2

Oh, touch is a very powerful salve for what ails you. Both physically, and mentally. What's that old saying? A problem shared, is a problem halved? Lot of truth to that. I would think that any group that came together in a situation like this one would either grow very close, or simply not survive at all.

    Chapter 2

Thank you. Now I have to go and see 28 Days!

    Chapter 2

    Thank you.

    Chapter 2

Thank you. Amazing how disaster can bring out the best in some people. There is a Jack in every tough moment in history, and undoubtedly one in every tight squeeze yet to come.

    Chapter 2

Most successful leaders are decision makers, but getting to that point is usually a group effort. Richie, Jeremy, and Marnie definitely work together to get things done. Whoever coined the phrase, "Two heads (or three) are better than one", definitely knew his stuff.

    Chapter 2

I guess Jack went by what he saw in the city. He didn't know guns like you do, I'm sure. So, uh, wanna go zombie hunting with me someday? You would kick ass out there in the post-apoc world.

    Chapter 2

Hard to imagine the shock and stress of going through the end of the world. Although, we may one day find out for real, the way things look around here these days!

    Chapter 2

Thanks. Seemed the best way to refer back to Jack, without the characters just standing around talking about him.

    Chapter 2

Yes, a dream, but the events happened, so more like a nightmare.

    Chapter 2

    Thank you.

    Chapter 2

Chapter Two Richie was dreaming, and he knew he was dreaming. But he could not seem to stop the dream, or guide it, or do anything but follow through with it, as he had several times before. He and Jack and Jeremy were in the storeroom of King's Hardware Store, in the small town of Mitersville, eight miles beyond the even smaller town of Hanford. The heavy steel door stood open at their backs as they gazed in wonder at the treasure trove of supplies before them. "Good thing the

    Chapter 1

Hi, Gary. Always a pleasure to find you nearby. I wish I was as much of a fan of zombies as you are. I like them, but there has been an awful lot already done with them. I think George Romero kind of grounded the spark in me when I was a kid, and the more modern takes are just not terribly different. I kind of wanted mine to be something else. I am a huge fan of post-apoc fiction, in all it's many forms, and that was what was really driving this one. Hope it will not disappoint you!

    Chapter 1

Cool. Now that I know you're the go-to guy for armaments, I'll ask you for pointers when I outfit my next heavily-armed slayer of perhaps not-mortal beings. You may roll your eyes, and even let me know what I get wrong, so that I won't do it again. When my friend called me on using good ol' American Thompsons in this tale instead of some Kalashnikov design, he actually curled his lip at me, to which I responded by sticking my tongue between my lips and blowing a rude noise at him. It was very mature behavior by both of us! You are much nicer to talk to, and I appreciate not having to make rude noises at you, too.

    Chapter 1

Well, your knowledge of Thompsons is beyond mine. I've never laid eyes on one except in old movies and episodes of Combat! I might have seen one in a museum. I did research them for the story, just so as to not make any really stupid errors, and I know there were variations on the weapon, but I was not aware that all models could not use the drum magazines. Chapter 2 suggests more of where they got the weapons. I'll just pretend I got it right. For now.

    Chapter 1

Too early to answer questions. Especially ones I never considered! Haha. Jack was...well, he was Jack. He came from the city. He's not there now. That's all i can say at the moment!

    Chapter 1

Hold that attitude....where's my camera...er...video recorder...er...microphone....rats. Never any technology around when you need it! Thanks!

    Chapter 1

    Tomorrow. You can wait.
  22. Geron Kees

    Chapter 1

Nope. Me, either. I didn't get through the first season of Walking Dead. Hope you enjoy the rest of the tale, too.
  23. Geron Kees

    Chapter 1

A friend of mine pointed out the same thing about the Thompson. He said he thought you'd find more AK-47's in midwestern closets than Thompsons. I found that idea strange, but maybe I just don't know any better. Have to go with what I got now, I'm afraid.
  24. Geron Kees

    Chapter 1

What can I say? I don't know Tim very well at all. We've met in passing a couple of times, and he pokes me when it looks like I'm not fully awake. As result, I have learned to snore very quietly. But I'm pleased he pointed you this way, and that I was alert enough to notice!
  25. Geron Kees

    Chapter 1

Shhh! No giving the author cool ideas!
