    Chapter 47

Definitely, but I want to finish this story first so I don't overload myself on work. Thanks!

    Chapter 47

News truly did become old quite fast in Ironward. The next afternoon, the main building cafeteria was bustling with activity, but, according to Andre’s ears, hearsay of the burning of the first-year dormitories was apparently a thing of the past. More interesting rumors have made their way to the forefront. Now, Rafe, Andre, Joe, Daeran, and Frodd were seated around each other, attempting to shape the coming days of the fight up ahead. “No.” The redheaded barbarian pouted at
  3. Haven't been here in a while. 47 is coming soon. Thanks for being patient. On the other hand, we're nearing the end of book 1. Any ideas on the ending? What book 2 will be about?

    Chapter 46

No offense taken! We respect and appreciate any constructive criticism here. This story, or more specifically, the plot with the Corspe Vice, wolves, and such span over the course of four books (and maybe even beyond), so I can see how you would think that considering everything is being revealed little by little at a snail's pace. Remember, greycell is an extremely rare ingredient for the steroids, so that bag is pretty much the only way to grow more. I'll keep quite on mates front for now. 🤫 And thank you for the kind words. I'm glad this story is the exception. 🥰

    Chapter 46

Tiny, black ants crept ever so slowly across her arms and back. That was the best way to describe the current state of Lindsay Warlane’s nerves as she anxiously maneuvered through the large space of Ironward Academy’s main building. Seriously, who could find anything in this place? Not only was she a dainty, little thirteen-year-old freshman, but she was surrounded by older, mean-looking upperclassmen who paraded around in massive groups, obviously knowing the ins and outs of the place and

    Chapter 45

“Seriously, guys,” Andre spoke as they walked back on familiar campus grounds after being teleported near the Diner by Rexel’s WardNav. “I can’t thank you enough for the save.” His eyes rested on Bones the longest, which the brooding boy noticed. He scoffed quietly. “Once is enough.” Andre’s smile didn’t waver a single inch. “I don’t know much about you, but I know you wouldn’t go out of your way for no reason. So, thanks again.” It made the dark-haired first-year stop short

    Chapter 44

“So, is this a sleepover party, or…?” Blond Fohawk, who Andre learned was named ‘Niall’ while being dragged to a whole other island, drawled, slouched against the red velvet couch across from the young wolf. Yeah. Fortunately for Andre, he knew he was still in the Ash Lands, but unfortunately, they were far from the Ironward campus. Its familiar scent of sand and rosé forestry gradually lessened in potency as he was smuggled blindfolded across a quarter of the archipelago. Now, he foun

    Chapter 43

“Pardon the interruption, students. Froddgenskaenn, please report to the administration’s office immediately. Froddgenskaenn, please report to the administration’s office immediately. Thank you.” The announcements went off the second Rafe, Andre, Joe, and Daeran walked into the Crystal Grotto for homeroom. As the four made their way toward the front, Frodd trudged nervously in the opposite direction. In those few seconds, a myriad of emotions passed through each of their faces. Rafe glared,

    Chapter 42

A wet, lukewarm sensation on his face greeted Rafe as his eyes struggled to open. Though, instead of the sizzling agony he’d expected to wake up to, it was cool and admittedly pleasant. It didn’t mean he was any less freaked out because when his vision unblurred, the sight of a large, furry, whiskered face with small, beady, and unblinking eyes amid a black mask welcomed him. Its arm, long, mechanical, and definitely looking like it shouldn’t be attached to it moved up and down as it wiped

    Chapter 41

Rafe was brought out from the dark a second later, Coach Sigil’s horn glowing pink at the tip. Memories of moments before were in a fog in his mind, but as he began to adjust to his newly-healed state, it quickly cleared, a play-by-play of his battle with Dylan happening within seconds. He won, and Joe was the first to enunciate his praises, stepping into Rafe’s line of sight on the ground. “Dude! Talk about a damn meteorite!” he helped the blond into a sitting position. “I thought you

    Chapter 40

Rafe swaggered toward the stage, making sure every step was poised and loud with assurance. Ahead of him was a mask of coolness, an icy tint in those emerald eyes. He didn’t know what the problem was, but something told him it was personal. Very personal. “The missing prodigal son,” Dylan spoke blandly as they now stood before each other. Rafe snorted. “You’re gonna get all chatty with me of all people?” “I have a bone to pick with you, yes.” He knew it. “Reall

    Chapter 39

Rafe and Vultros stood stock-still before each other, one eyeing the other for any movement despite the match having yet to commence. “So,” the griffin started, beady eyes looking his opponent up and down, “you are the one that has been fraying the nerves of my teammates. I can see you hold yourself well.” Rafe snorted. “Don’t think that buttering me up will get me to go easy on you. This is gonna hurt. A lot.” “I don’t disagree. But our leader was fussing quite a bit, so I expect

    Chapter 38

Joe woke up with a start, pink soothing his aches before rejuvenating his energy back to normal levels. Wide, purple eyes scanned his surroundings – his teammates and the stage that was somehow no longer in pieces after his last attack. Being a living bomb will do that for you. “Was it all a dream?” he muttered blankly. “A dream come true,” Rafe placed a hand on his shoulder, scanning him up and down. “You okay?” “You won, man!” Landon cheered. “That explosion thingy you just did

    Chapter 37

“The second match shall proceed as follows. Team One, Joe Sloane of Ironward against Ikron Coras of Pratwith!” Joe considered himself to be a pretty easygoing guy. It was a miracle that he was as chill as he was if where he came from was taken into account. His homelife wasn’t much of a rigid, regulated nightmare as Rafe’s – and probably Landon’s if the stories are true – but the Sloane family was associated with the Coat of Wolfram and have been for “many moons,” as his father would procla

    Chapter 36

Several minutes of searching for Pratwith’s backyard later, the first-years stood gaping as they were greeted with the sight of an ancient relic. How else were they supposed to react to an actual colosseum being the school’s sports stadium? Of course, it was more refurbished than the original with comfortable seating for the thousands of people in the audience. Speaking of the audience, it was quite clear that there were more Pratwith fans present than Ironward ones judging by the smaller s

    Chapter 35

Several hours later, the end of the school day had arrived, which meant nothing else stood in the way of the beginner level’s first match of the year. On the way to the War Field, the students lingering around were still laughing and joking, marching to and fro as if game day wasn’t today. The sight only reinforced the notion that novice matches didn’t bring about as much hype as the advanced teams. Still, that did almost nothing to deter the excitement bubbling in the freshmen. “Man!” Rudy

    Chapter 34

“I say, this certainly is a battle of legends, is it not?” Lick Dane asked enthusiastically. “I mean, werewolf… and a vampire? What are the odds?” “These two species butt heads like cats and dogs every second of the day,” Big Ol’ Junior dismissed. “Nothing too special.” “Aye! What the fuck!?” Rafe heard Zoel shout in indignation. “But it’s not every day you see them with this kind of strength.” Cain and Demetrius were exchanging furious combinations of punches and kicks, stri

    Chapter 33

Ants were something to be jealous of. It didn’t matter how small, insignificant, or easily killable they were. They led boring, mundane lives crawling from one patch of dirt to the other. No obligations to mandatory decorum, no being fashioned into a role in order to keep up the happy illusion of a broken family, and no worries of going insane. “Seek and destroy,” the robotic voice overhead reiterated that same mantra it did every day. “That is your task henceforth. The original inhabi

    Chapter 32

Andre sighed as he set down the two backpacks of canteens. In all honesty, aside from being the water boy, which he was doing well at being, there wasn’t much of a difference from just watching Rafe train in the gym for several hours. Although, the process seemed a bit more rigorous. Coach Hemming, the head instructor, in the span of forty-five minutes, subjected them to one brutal workout after another. Running with weights, pinky pushups, seemingly endless shadow boxing, and many other th

    Chapter 31

“I just can’t take it!” Rafe screamed into his phone while lying down on his bed, still reeling from the argument with his father a week and a half ago. “I can’t take knowing… that he knows and… you guys are…” Nearby, Andre, situated in a chair, winced. On the other side of the line, a growl sounded out before the rough baritone of Beau’s voice grouched. “Don’t you dare call us defenseless, imp! Don’t you dare!” “Calm down,” Toby, his lighter tone fainter, cooed. “Don’t freak him

    Chapter 30

“Who else could be calling us?” Andre asked as he and Rafe stood in the middle of the school’s administration office, which housed Gylarcan, Emais, and their assistants’ rooms. “I don’t know, but I don’t like it,” Rafe pursed his lips. “If it’s who I’m thinking it is, then…” He didn’t know too many friendlies outside of Beau, Toby, and Andre’s foster family. Which meant that whoever was ringing wasn’t a companion at all. It hit the omé a second later, his face paling the slightest

    Chapter 29

Two days later, in the basement of the Adam Society basement fitness center after classes, there was a second area, a wide, empty space for one exercise in particular. “How about this!?” Rafe shouted as he charged at Bogrut, the tenth-year ogre he and the others met before they stumbled upon the back-to-school party. The olive-green giant easily caught the sharp right hook with his left, pudgy hand. The small crowd that ogled on had their jaws dropped to the floor as what sounded like

    Chapter 28

They never found the elusive barbarian until the next day in World Formation, where he pretty much had to make himself present. Rafe thought he would just skip, but twenty-four hours was apparently enough for the fellow first-year to recuperate. They had badgered him out of concern. The blond superhuman even tried a bit of humor, half-joking when he asked if he wanted to maim a few of his clan members in retaliation, but that only got a hint of a grin from the brooding redhead. “You su
