So much sound and fury, darkness and change of mood/color/shape in these chapters, that they evoke Shostakovich's 8th string quartet irresistibly (to me).

There are many why's in this story, but also many y's: Taryn, Bryson, Gyro, Comicality... MaYbe I missed some
Justin still has a lot to do to stop being controlled by his emotions and falling into obvious traps such as the one of the Beast in his dream. If he was prodded to sneak into Bryson's private stuff, it's probably things that the Beast wants to learn through him. Or it is to create bad blood (sic) between him and Bryson. Or both. The latter would be well-deserved.
Besides, the fight reminded me of playing Nethack.
Hmm - as far as I know, hemophilia is not caused by a virus...
I never cease to admire the detail and delicacy of this psychological invention of how it must be to be a vampire.
