Your explanation was just fine. I should've added that pining for someone can be weird or normal. It depends on the person and how they act on it. For example I've pined for Chris Hemsworth since the first Thor but I would never consider stalking him. I manifest my crush in my writing. (He's so damn hot!) LOL.

Human relationships, especially romantic ones are super complex. I can't speak for Gnomie (even though certain Krew members think we're the same person) but when I write, the characters are in the driver's seat of my brain. Perry isn't blood related and he's not the first to fall for a siblings spouse. That's just the way it works sometimes. But I can see where it might be an 'ick' factor.

Yeah... I have trouble remembering what ranks go with what branch. In my defense ... I'm on vacation. And she didn't give me the chapter until late (my time) Tuesday night. Too much pressure for my vacationing brain, especially when I was focused on making sure my own story was ready to go.
