April Signature Author Feature: Boss Nanny by Mrsgnomie
kbois commented on Cia's blog entry in Gay Authors News
See @Mrsgnomie.... I'm delightful 😛 -
I've heard those things wreak havoc on the brain.

I put myself through the same thing every year. Knowing me, I'll hem and haw about it and then panic-write something the week before it's due. I guess I'm a glutton for punishment too. Enjoy your day y'all!

Oooohhhh....Secret Author hmm? I guess it's time to sharpen my stealth writing skills and take a peek at my 'ideas' folder on my phone to see what weird things my brain came up with and I remembered to jot down 😆

We all have those "meh" days. My mom used to call it the blahs. I've had a few of those recently too. I think it's this fickle weather. I'm not used to so many cloudy days . All we can do is what we can, when we can, and as best we can. You can always hit me up for a chat if you're in the mood to be entertained lol. Hugs, my friend.

I'm not sure what the rules are in Europe, but in the US, if the airline has a schedule change and the changes are not ok with you, you have the right to a refund if you can't change the flights to something that will work for you. At the very least, you should be able to receive a credit for the full amount which is good for 1 year from the original purchase date. In the travel industry, we used to cite Rule 240. That would shut up any airline rep who tried to stonewall us or our clients. Good luck trying to rebook. Incidents like this is why I'm glad I'm out of that industry. Its way to common.

Creamed corn and baked beans together with BBQ sauce? Oh hell no! That's a sodium overload. Everything else sounds good. What time is dinner?

Its rumored that they love Cheerios too. https://youtu.be/de4IByX4F2g?si=5Vpc6z1_YiPeRZ-S

I got my taxes done early this year. That's a first for me. Uncle Sam was nice enough to give me a nice chunk of our money back to us. I had to file state taxes for the first time in 17 years. Chalk one up to no Florida state income tax. Did not go to Salem today because the SIL left early this morning. I thought she was leaving tomorrow so..... Yay for that nice surprise! My son had plans for today so neither hubs nor I wanted to leave his mom alone all day. Poor woman is exhausted after being dragged around by her daughter for 3 days. Anyhoo.... We decided to take a short drive up north to Yankee Candle....yes...that Yankee Candle. Its their main store which is down the street from their big factory where they make all the stuff. Let's just say my husband has added another location to "the places kbois is not allowed" What? The candies were buy 1 get 1 50% off!!!!!

Same excuse I have.... "We're working on it" But yeah ... She's been MIA for quite some time. -
Salem is known for witches and ghosts 👻

Hubs and I have decided to take advantage of his sister being in town and take a day off from everything tomorrow. We've decided to visit our old stomping ground from our college/dating years and visit our old haunts in Salem. (pun intended) So for the SIL has been okay but we haven't seen much of her. We learned long ago not to cater to her off-the-wall plans and just do our own thing. Example.... She offered to buy Chinese food for dinner tonight. She and the MIL left the house at 930 this morning and it's 500 and they're not back. Looks like it's leftovers because I sure as hell didn't take anything out. 🙄 But this is typical of her so I'm not surprised nor do I really care.

Around me, I've seen a low of $3.89 and a high of $4.09 for regular unleaded. Obe station had the super-ultra-supreme-whatever-you-call-it for $5.09 per gallon 🤯. I don't math so no liter conversion for this girl. I use an app called Upside and get cash back for gas. I call it my emergency fund. I think there's about $115 waiting for me to decide to move it to my bank account.

Red pen AND the strike thru ... Love it!😘

Mundane (/mʌnˈdeɪn/ or /mənˈdeɪn/) describes things that are ordinary, routine, boring, or related to earthly life rather than spiritual matters. Yup ..I am definitely not mundane.
-
Wow. I guess the rest of us "mundanes" are lucky you didn't spawn.

At the little mini-reunion I had with my high school friends we were flipping through my yearbook when one of the girls started laughing. She read what one of my teachers had written: "Good luck to the girl who can get more words in per minute than any I've ever known." Yeah. I was quite the talker when I was young. I don't know where your mind went 🤔🤭

Me too

I often wish I had gone into nursing when I was trying to figure out what I should be when I grow up. Then I have that exact same thought you did 🤣🤣 Enjoy the rest of your day!

I can't answer for the gay parents but from the straight perspective I doubt there is much difference. I think it all depends on who the individuals are as a couple and their own set of values. Its a parent's job to teach. In real life every kid learns differently and every parent teaches differently. Some are better than others. I was raised in Generation X, yes we were given a lot a freedom as kids and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I learned how to problem solve by seeing my dad "fix" things with duct tape and baling wire. I absorbed domestic skills by helping my mom cook and keep a household of 8 people running with controlled chaos. The first love I learned was a gift given to me by my parents. The values they instilled in me shaped me into who I am today. I tried to raise my two boys with those values and for the most part I think it worked. I've had moments when I've been overwhelmed with pride for something one of them accomplished or did. I've also experienced bitter disappointment when the reality that I also failed one of them hit me like a brick wall. Every parent regardless of their sexuality has those high and low moments. The advent of 24 hour television, internet, and social media has added another layer of parenting that has to be navigated. Social media, especially is something that today's parents should be shit scared of because of the influence it has on kids. As far as negotiating freedom, it depends on the kid's ages. All kids need rules and structure. Parent's need to provide this and be open to changing as their child matures. Just because one teenager can be trusted to be home by midnight doesn't mean another can be. Flexibility, rather than negotiation should be key. Gay or straight, it's our responsibility to give our kids the tools they need to navigate life. Whether or not they use those tools is up to them.

You know that shooting, searing, white-hot flash that tears through your entire body when you smack your knee on the side of your desk? Yeah. I did that. 😖🤬

I told tim that you could give him a run for his money in the poetry department and I meant it. These are stunningly beautiful.

Saharan dust reaches the southern US several times a year. We would get alerts in Florida as it affected the air quality, especially for people with breathing issues like asthma. It did, however, create breathtaking sunsets. I believe this was one of them if memory serves me right
