I knew from the very start Elijah and Ashton's mating would be very different. I deliberately chose to leave out the nitty-gritty details because the focus had to be the connection Kage created. You're probably not far off the mark. I think Kage’s protection of Elijah automatically extends to those closest to him. No one could be closer than Ashton. Tyler is his brother in every way but blood so it makes sense that Austin is included because of his connection to both Ashton and Tyler. Make sense?
