Make her do something? Tried to get her to change Ball, um BedSack. She wouldn't go for it.

    Chapter 9

My dad kept his in mint condition. I can't even imagine what it would be worth today.

    Chapter 1

I think most of us who grew up with Bible stories believed in all of them for a while. I read somewhere that the Noah’s Ark story and other civilization flood stories (same region, including Atlantis) may have originated from the creation of the Medterranean Sea when the Atlantic Ocean breached the narrow gap of land between Europe and Africa and flooded the lower basin. Makes more sense to me.

    Chapter 1

I firmly believe that man created god. I also firmly believe I know the difference between enunciation and annunciation. One of those momentary brain hesitations where you pick which way to go and you choose wrong and then your editing team doesn't catch it. Lol. Oh well.

    Chapter 1

I'm glad you found your peace. Stepping away from everything you were taught way the "right" way must have been hard, but totally worth it.

    Chapter 1

Thanks for sharing your memories. I'm sure there are so many other who have similar experiences. I know so many people who have stories of priests who were just plain nasty people. It's always best to agree to disagree. Thanks for reading!

    Part Two. The End.

I/we did put a lot of hours into this story. There were many times when we had conversations discussing various plots and/or actions of the characters. It's exhausting, but absolutely rewarding in the end when I/we get comments like these.

Can we talk about the name BedSack? I'd like to go on record that I'm not a fan.

    Chapter 1

Thank you! Finding balance when dealing with any sensitive subject matter is always like walking a tightrope. This subject is probably the skinniest rope I've balanced on yet. I almost didn't write it because I wasn't sure I could pull it off.

Jesuit may be a little more open-minded but I'm not so sure the topic wouldn't be allowed anywhere else. Things are much different today and exclusions are frowned upon, even in private schools. Terrible things happen because they can. I've never really understood why guilt has to be so interwoven with some religions more than others. Faith, as defined by Merriam Webster is noun : allegiance to duty or a person : fidelity to one's promises : sincerity of intentions 2 a(1) : belief and trust in and loyalty to God (2) : belief in the traditional doctrines of a religion b(1) : firm belief in something for which there is no proof (2) : complete trust 3 : something that is believed especially with strong conviction especially : a system of religious beliefs

Thanks Parker! I'm not sure I would go that far, but I hope that it makes a few people think.

    Shit... I'm retracting my review
  17. Gnomie did it again. She brought us an amazing story of one man's journey of loss, finding himself and in doing so, discovering who he is outside of a grieving widower and young father. It's also the another man's story of family and how to fall in love from outside of what is considered the norm and overcoming the obstacles of getting there. Well worth the read.

    I'm. Not. Crying!
  19. We got some news today that we're trying to process and not worry over too much, but for me it's proving extremely difficult. Earlier this week my husband noticed one of his pupils was smaller than the other and it didn't go back to normal after a day or so. He called his eye doctor today because with his macular degeneration any change has to be checked out. Well, he now has an appointment on Monday for 4 hours of testing with a neuro-opthalmologist. I don't suggest Googling any of it. I'm going to be a wreck until Monday.

I will always love Lex. ❤️
  21. I forgot... you don't get the scoop. He got sent home after getting the all clear and was sleeping soundly this morning. It's amazing how kids bounce back.

    Chapter 1

I had one of those big classes too. I think we ended up with one priest, a Catholic school principal and maybe a dozen Catholic school teachers. Thanks for reading!

    Chapter 1

Thank you, my friend. I enjoy taking on a challenge and this story certainly was one. Yes, it's a controversial subject, but I would rather debate religion over politics any day of the week. So it's a safe bet I will never be posting a politically-themed story. Religion will always divide people. Another reason I don't believe in it's value.

    Chapter 1

It's interesting to hear how other people came to their conclusion of no longer following whatever belief they grew up with. With age comes wisdom and the ability to see things more clearly (in most cases) Your last sentence is most poignant, especially now with what is happening in the Middle East. It's hard to watch and know that from the perspective of those of us who do not believe in a higher power or any god, to see the death and destruction caused by religious(and yes, political)differences is incredibly sad. How many wars have been fought under the guise of "god"?

    Chapter 1

Nowadays it seems Catholic schools have relaxed their standards somewhat. At least when it comes to certain things like dress codes. I saw a picture of my friend's daughter from her homecoming last week and let's just say the dress would have never been allowed when I was in school. Neither would the others that were her daughter's friends. Super short and bare midriffs.... at a Catholic Homecoming Dance. If there were any nuns left, they'd be shocked. Lol. I can believe that lay teachers would introduce thought-provoking subjects to their students. I think you are right with the difference between atheists and agnostics. Then there's the differences between Roman Catholic, Russian Orthodox, Greek Orthodox, Protestant, Baptist, Mormon, Episcopalian.... shall I go on? Lol
