  1. Stefano rose the following evening and went out to feed. Like most kumpania, regions were known for having outlying mortal residents – many of which were a willing ghoul or subjugate for kindred just to experience the ecstasy of being fed upon. Feeling refreshed, he strolled up Focus Hill to the promenade at the top. He moved to the eastern end where stairs had been laid for speakers to be able to address large crowds. He sat on the top stair and waited for kindred to arrive. One of the firs

    Seeking Truth

I think this was one of my hardest sections to write - I'm not big on "who-dunnits" ... at least the writing part
  3. “I am curious, Trezt, how a hunter becomes the hunted.” Stefano leaned back and drew slowly from his pipe, his dark eyes locked on the older kindred before him. He had been questioning members of the Orswelt community for three nights and was not feeling at all close to a resolution. “Was this a hunt gone wrong or something less dramatic?” Opposite the small campsite fire from him the man looked poised and calm. Too calm, in Stefano’s mind, for talking to his Prince. Trezt chuckle

    Spradler's

Paul has a good life. And I think he's starting to realize that.

    Spradler's

I'm fairly certain Paul is aware, though maybe not to what level ...
  6. Jerod and I pulled into the parking lot for ‘Spradler’s on Main’ fifteen minutes prior to the required timeslot. We stood outside and each had a cigarette while I took a quick glance around the area. “Looks almost too high-brow to be a jazz club,” I commented. “Are you saying only low-class people listen to jazz?” “Of course not. This just isn’t the type neighborhood I was expecting.” “What were you looking for? Graffiti on the door?” “No, of course not.”

    Charlie's

I think Tommy's problem is his maturity ... or lack thereof ....

    Ready Or Not

wow. this is such an awesome chapter. I am so proud of the boys for going forward and getting help! looking forward to next installment.
  11. I walked around the studio slowly, half in shock from all the technology. Soundproofing was expected, but the acoustics of the room, the baffling on the walls, was fascinating. Jerod stood in the center of the room and snapped his fingers, then slowly wandered around, repeating his finger snap with a look of awe on his face. He finally turned to Mike. “Dare I ask what it costs to rent this place?” “Don’t,” Mike replied. “I don’t like thinking about it. But trust me, it’s worth ever

    Prologue

Thank you for "stopping by" - I'm thrilled you have interest in the story. I hope that grows as you read. I understand "juggling stories" - at least the two I've been writing. I hope never to try to do multiple stories again - it's brain wracking
  14. “How long will you be gone?” Gerik sat with Stefano on the balcony, watching the incoming tide and listening to the rhythmic sounds of waves crashing against stone. “I wish I knew.” Stefano drew on his pipe, savoring the taste and aroma of cherry-wood tobac. The smoke did not rise above far above him. The light grey from the pipe mixed with the darker shadows that always seemed to accompany him. Shade and smoke, haze and shadow all wove in a mystic dance. “They did not give much informati

    Chicago

Mike looked skeptically at my oversized backpack. “I trust you are staying for more than just a couple of days. Do you plan on doing laundry every night?” Jerod laughed. “Paul rolls his things. It’s an art I have never learned, though I have tried enough times. I would bet he has at least two weeks’ worth of clothes in there.” “At least,” I concurred. “And nothing gets creased?” Mike’s face was full of doubt. “Not much and I can always iron out anything that does. 18. I love all the comments. This chapter (for me) is probably one of the less-interesting, yet it has gotten the most vibrant of responses. Helps me remember that it the reader that I'm looking to connect with - even if the connections are on the "less pretty" side, lol. Thank you all. I can only hope future reading evokes strong response.
  19. .. sorry - dup comment ..
  20. Interesting - maybe it's just the issues they've been seen in that makes them appear cold .. (in other words the way I wrote them )
  21. Monday swiftly became one of the most hectic days of my life, even considering the days after Annie’s accident. Flight arrangements were made; Jerod and I would leave Tuesday afternoon on flight thirteen-fifty-five for Chicago, one of the few direct flights I could find. It was scheduled to land at four forty-five at O’Hare; Mike had agreed to pick us up. I had argued the need for a rental car, he had convinced me we could pick one up later if we needed. A friend of mine in real estate ha

  23. Destiny huh? hehe but lest we forget - while he was breakfasting with Jared, he did think At this point in my life am I ready to uproot everything and start over? And what of Cheryl? So is Cheryl truly out of the picture?? choices choices choices...
  24. Thank you very much. Sometimes I think the story's moving too fast - then it's dragging .... having input from my readers is a MAJOR boon!
  25. muses are an excellent excuse when things don't go right, LOL! but thank you for the compliment - the story "feels right" - I'm enjoying writing this one tremondously.
