Summers Last Blast I woke up with the predawn sounds of birds. The first things I saw were the vague outlines of clouds above us. I closed my eyes for a few seconds and I imagined I was up there with them but I wasn't alone. Keith's arm was loosely wrapped around me. I turned my head and saw him lying on his side watching me, smiling at me. My universe unraveled momentarily when I looked in Keith's eyes. The same mind blowing shudder raced around and through me. I was amazed that his gaze alon

Drew's Journal August 30, 1996 It's my 13th birthday. Keith gave me this journal. He and dad say it's a good idea to write stuff out and look back on it from time to time. I dunno. This just feels weird. Maybe some other time. Sept. 1, 1996 I asked Keith and my dad what I could write in here. They said anything and everything - like I know what that is! So I asked again. Goals. My only goal is to get out of going to school this week! Ideas?! Got plenty of them. Don't know if I'll write them

All Worlds What a summer! My mom went all out reading every book that remotely touched the subject of homosexuality and sexuality in general. The greatest thing about my mom was that she never hassled me with an embarrassing question of any sort. She thought a few of them might be embarrassing but they honestly weren't. For instance, when I started to spend time with Mike and Derrick while Keith was at work, she confronted me once, asking if there was anything going on between me and either or

My mom greeted me with a warm smile and open arms that hugged me tight when I got home early that Sunday evening. She wanted to know about my weekend in detail. Setting out a tray of her special brownies (mixed with pudding that made them moist and gooey) on the table we sat down and I started telling her about Big Bear. It was as if she was making me feel more comfortable so I could tell her the stuff that had my mind spinning for most of the drive back to LA. Keith was so great during the dri

Caught in the Act Drew was laughing, his feet were shuffling but he couldn't get away from Preston’s weight holding him against the tree. "I didn't hear a thing!" Drew laughed, "John told me all about it, I swear." "Ah Ha!" I shouted. "The gig is up John and your busted bro!" John quit struggling and whispered, "Shit!" Obviously they were both lying through their teeth. I put John down and tried like crazy to hold a steady serious stare at my brothers but I couldn't hold it for very long. I

Dreams and Reality The summer sun glimmered off the lake where Preston and I were swimming. The water was cool but thankfully not ice cold like it can sometimes be up in the mountains. My brothers had given up trying to keep up with us as we ventured out beyond the floating platform into the middle of the lake. Prez was right by my side, only one or two strokes behind me. Feeling a sudden burst of playful competitiveness, I dove under the water and turned to my left out of his site. When I cam

Hi Daithi, my basic thought process writing this story was that something happened which caused Prez to start writing his story about a year and half after his move to California. At the time of the main story, Prez and Keith are 15, Mike and Derrick are 16. Specifics on birthdays are revealed during the course of the story, but to answer your question, Prez and Keith have birthdays in September; Mike's birthday is June 1, and Derrick's birthday is December 30th. The "something" that happened to cause Prez to share his story is rapidly approaching in the second book I am currently working on - "Life Goes On".

Two Sides of the Same Coin Mike Gibbons sat on the edge of his bed that Friday night finger-picking haunting blues melodies on his acoustic guitar while thinking of events old and new. The last two nights he had heard virtually nothing from Keith. This would be the third night without contact from his best friend and it created a dull ache in the pit of his belly. At least they got to talk about some stuff during the night at the beach. But the new kid, Preston stole away Keith’s interest in a

A Weekend Together Most of the morning I wandered around the apartment aimlessly. My mom had left another note under a magnet on the fridge. Beneath the note were two twenty-dollar bills for me to take with me. I was instructed to offer to pay for my own meals and, if the offer was refused, to stuff the twenty’s in Mrs. Hundser’s purse when she wasn't looking. There was nothing but the usual daytime talk and game shows on so I turned off the TV and went to my room. I turned on my stereo and P

Love Begins About an hour later, I woke up with Keith's sleeping face next to mine. Man, had things changed a lot! In the small north Texas town of Sherman I had few friends, mostly acquaintances. You know the kinds of kids that when you do see them, there simply doesn't seen to be much common ground. A bunch of kids moved away with their families in the late 1980's. The only guy I would've considered a best friend lived about two blocks away from me. We were in the same class all through grad

Beach Party The remainder of the morning was spent unpacking boxes and organizing my room. I got my dad's old PC, hooked it all up and hit the power button. I had become addicted to the Civilization 2 video game, more so than any of the sports or racing games I had on my Super NES. I was just getting the game started when the phone rang. "Hello?" "G'morning, Prez. Wassup dude?" "Nothing much Keith. I just got my PC all put together and working again. I was just about to start a game when yo

Lost and Found Don't you just love the smell of the ocean? Naturally, I just had to start this project here at Malibu. But where are my manners? Introductions! Howdy! My name's Preston - Preston Albert O'Brian. I just turned seventeen years old. I'm five feet ten and sopping wet I weigh about 150 pounds. I have red hair and blue eyes. Not too long ago, I didn't used to have many friends. But now I seem to be pretty popular at school and spend most of my time hanging out with my three best buds

It has come to my attention that the author known as 'Crackerwriter' has passed on. He was 65 years young. I'm sure all of us will send our warmest wishes to the family of the departed.

I keep going back to this one of Joe Pass. and this one, the Beatles Apple rooftop concert

I hate waking up at 5AM and passing out at 8 or 9PM! This is all bass-ackwards! I should be falling asleep at 5AM dammit! How am I expected to call my insomniac friends? I can only rely on Stephen to pass messages. BTW, Thor sleeps with the boxers you left behind... and NO ONE can touch them but him!

I took it... it tasted like semen to me. Seems to have made matters worse too. Ya know how long it took to write this lying on my back with my legs in the air?

Remember I began with the story "Mark"? (reefer to Nifty Military section) You can thank/blame Comsie for that. Chapter 1 is virtually the same thing I wrote in an e-mail to Comsie back in 1999... or was it '98?

Later on... and tomorrow and the next day and the day after that... I wish I could write a 20K chapter again but it seems hopeless. I hope you like the story, Benji.

I live in the Bay area and could likely make it. Only work issues might delay me but I would make every effort. If I might suggest a place for dinner - The Sausage Factory in the Castro has great pizza and Italian food. yumm!

Oh, you mean something like... Unfortunately, Keith and I had both lost our momentum from Mike and Derrick -
hmmm... "I've had MANY people tell me that they can't write worth a lick, and yet, they tell me about a boy they loved in an email, and don't realize that what they just did was...in fact...write me a story." I resemble that remark!

MESSAGE BOARD TOPIC #39

"New Kid In School" only had four chapters when I first found it way back in 1998. The rotten scheming author broke up the perfect couple and I about had a meltdown... prompting me to contact afore-mentioned scheming author in 1999.
