The next day was my big day; ‘release day', they called it, but it was Freedom Day for me. Freedom from the hospital, at any rate. The cute male nurse came in and helped me into the baggy jeans and a shirt that Sara had gotten me. We had to cut the left leg off the jeans so I could get them on easier, but man it felt good to be in real clothes again. Later that morning Chip, Dad, and Sarah showed up with someone I didn't know. "Jonah," Chip began, "This is Dr. Brewer, Dr. Tom Brewer.

We dashed down the hallway, Lori pushing me, apparently the first time she'd ever pushed a wheelchair, judging by the nurse she nearly mowed down. We arrived at Dex's room, Lori slowing down just enough to get me through the door without sending me back to ICU. Dex was finally fully awake long enough to smile weakly, and I grinned back at him from ear to ear. Ms. McGee came in and told us they had given him some more medication to help him come around. She'd called Doc and he was on hi

"Jonah, Mom's family, her Dad, was quite well off. Grandpa Tucker didn't want to just leave all his money and property to his kids, but the law in Tennessee and most places as I understand it, will usually only let a person skip one generation, to make a long story short, he left it to his grandchildren, us, in a trust. We can't touch any part of it till we finish college or reach the age of twenty-five." "Well, that explains why Mom and Dad let you do this modeling thing till you're t

I was somewhere else for a while. I remember flashes of light then darkness. I remember thinking I heard my Mom's voice. I couldn't tell where it was coming from, like it was all around me. I couldn't make out all of what she was saying, but I heard her say my name and Sarah and Chip. It was a comforting tone like when I was a kid and had scraped a knee or elbow, or when bigger kids had been picking on me. But why was she talking about Uncle Chip? I heard music. What is that? I know

The next morning Dad knocked on my door at 6:30. "Your breakfast will be at the foot of the stairs in thirty. Be dressed and ready to go at 7:30. I'll drop you at school." This was such bullshit. What had I done? I told him I was gay. My sin was falling in love with a wonderful guy and having sex with him. Okay, a sixteen year old having sex may not be exactly the norm, but it's definitely not unheard of either. I wonder what the reaction would have been if I had been caught in bed w

The word ‘panic’ takes on a whole new definition here. The moment I heard that horrible voice, I jumped up. Sky jumped and actually fell off the bed. Any other time, it probably would have been funny as hell. At this moment, I couldn’t even think straight. Panic mode. “OH SHIT!!!” coming from my mouth was the only thing I heard after that awful exclamation in my doorway, and that same voice screaming “MAAHHHMM!!!!” as he ran back down the hallway. Shit, shit, shit, shit. Dammit. “G

The next morning, I awoke spooned up to Sky, and my arm over his chest. I nuzzled in to the back of his neck and kissed it softly. He began to stir. I extended my tongue and softly licked that wonderful spot. He slowly rolled over on to his back and whispered, "That tickles." I took my hand and started caressing his smooth, muscular chest. "Last night was wonderful, you were wonderful," he said softly. It really was wonderful. I don't know about how wonderful I was, but I was

We rode over to Dex's house. We called Lori, and she came over. Sky and I wanted the four of us to go out to get some food, but Dex had a date with Ellen. I decided we'd call Zach and see if he wanted to go. He was thrilled that we called and had asked him to go. Now you've got to understand something about small towns, especially in Alabama. Putting it bluntly, after you go to McD's or Wendy's, Pizza Hut, or whatever, there just ain't much else to do except ride around. In fact tha

The trip home was uneventful. Most of the conversation with Dad and Jessie centered around their honeymoon. Dad had gone all out and had rented a small suite at the Ritz Carlton. They had breakfast at Brennan's, whatever that is, and ate at Emeril's and someplace called Commander's Palace or something like that. They were telling me about the French Quarter and all, but it sort of went in one ear and out the other. Apparently, Jessie spent one whole day in the hotel spa, and went on and on ab

I don't remember much after that kiss. I remember Sky helping me out of the car and back to his room, but honestly, that's it. I woke up the next morning in Sky's bed and he was spooned up behind me with his arm over my chest. I had to pee, bad. I got up slowly, but I was still unsteady. Suddenly, I felt Sky come up behind me, and grab me around the waist and another hand on my shoulder to steady me. I did note that we were both naked. "Are you gonna be sick?" he asked. "No, gotta

That week with Sky was even more special than the week we spent in Gulf Shores. His dad was gone most of the time, leaving us to entertain ourselves. Yeah, there was some pretty damn incredible sex - but it was more. We were really getting to know each other. We talked about our likes and dislikes, our hopes, our dreams, our fears, everything. Some of our best talks were just before falling asleep and waking up again in each other's arms. And yes, he did remember to sing me to sleep at night. We

A wedding in a small town is a social event more than anything else, mainly because there's just not that much else to do. As weddings go in our town, this was a small one - somewhere between fifty to seventy-five family and guests. I knew the few distant cousins I hardly ever saw, and several of Dad's friends and clients. Of course all the people in his office and their families were there. The McGee's were also there as were Lori and her folks, and a few of our other former neighbors. There we

Thankfully, the rehearsal was done quickly, and the dinner was buffet style. David and a couple of Dad's buddies had sworn to take him out and get him plastered, so he wouldn't be back at the house ‘til late. Sarah was meeting up with a bunch of her old friends who were home from college and would also be late. Yes! There is a God! I was going to get more time alone with Sky. As soon as we got to the house, I took Sky, with his bags in tow, straight to my room. I closed and locked the

Hold me closer tiny dancer Count the headlights on the highway Lay me down in sheets of linen you had a busy day today Blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band Pretty eyed, pirate smile, you'll marry a music man Ballerina, you must have seen her dancing in the sand And now she's in me, always with me, tiny dancer in my hand . . . I had just finished the last chorus and I heard clapping. "That was absolutely beautiful Jonah," Sarah said. I hadn't h

I had kept up my emails, chats, and phone calls with Sky. That day that Dex and I had it out, I called him the minute I got home. He knew immediately that I was upset. It was all I could do to keep from crying. I told him every word that was spoken. I was kinda pissed when he said that I better think about what I was asking Dex to do. I never thought I could get angry at Sky, but I was. I mean deep down, I know I was being selfish. Dex's world didn't revolve around me. Maybe I thought it should

We didn't say much on the walk back to my house. I think Dex was trying to digest the news that his best friend was gay. I could appreciate that. As we got close to the house, I saw Lori sitting on the curb next to the street, her head in her lap. At some point she looked up and Dex put his arm around my shoulder. She jumped up and ran over to us. She threw her arms around my neck and pulled me into a hug and started absolutely sobbing her heart out. "Jonah, I'm soooo sorry. I did

Dad and I got home about mid afternoon that next day. I carried my bags in and plopped on the bed. I was just laying there for a while, staring at the ceiling, remembering the last couple of days and all the intense feelings I had about Sky. Bang, Bang, Bang. “Just knock on it, don’t knock it down, asshole.” Dex walks in grinning. “Saw y’all pull in. How was the trip?” “K” I said. “Since when do you go with your dad on a business trip to a hick town li

We got on the interstate and drove for about fifteen or twenty minutes to a suburb called Clinton. He drove to a very nice neighborhood of mostly single story brick homes, just past the high school. The yards were all fairly large and neatly kept. He pulled into a driveway of a reddish brick house with dark colored shutters. He pressed a button on a remote on his keychain, the garage door opened and we pulled in and parked. “Wait” he said as I started to get out. “Whatever she says, just ag

It was a long drive to Jackson - over four hours. I don’t know what I was expecting. It was smaller than Birmingham, but it was a city. Our hotel was in the middle of downtown. We pulled into the parking garage and walked into the lobby. It had rich, dark, paneled wood on the walls and marble floors. The long front desk was just to the right as you walked in the doors from the garage. Past the front desk a long hallway, punctuated with a number of crystal chandeliers, led to shops, then t

The next week or so was pretty quiet. Dad had slipped back into his routine of working all the time and was seldom home. I spent most of the time hanging around Dex and Lori. I didn't have "that talk" with Lori yet. I decided to let her tell me she wanted to go out or something and then just let her down easy. I'll do the "I would rather be friends than lovers" thing with her and hope I didn't hurt her feelings. I had talked to Sky on the phone several times, but mostly we wrote emai

The rest of the day was spent alternating between the beach, where we did join our friends from last Friday in another game of volleyball, my condo where we made passionate love, his place where we made passionate love, and the beach where we took another romantic walk. Tuesday was spent on the beach playing with Schultzie, playing volleyball, making passionate love at our condo, making passionate love at his place. I think you're probably picking up a theme. It wasn't as boring as I just told

Dad was home by the time I walked in. "Hi" I said as I walked in the living room where he was watching television. "Hi, have a good time today" he asked. " Yeah, nice course." "Me too" he said. "We need to do stuff like this more. Oh, David said that we need to be at the pier by 12:30. We're going to pick them up about 11:00, go get something to eat, and then head on over there." "Sounds cool. Sky and I were going to the beach in the morning, but I'll call him, do

We went upstairs and I unlocked the door. "Dad?" I called out. "In here" came the reply. We walked into the living room and Dad was there watching the TV. "What's up guys? You're back a little early." "Oh, we just went to get a burger and walked around some." I said. "Sounds kind of boring" Dad said. Sky and I just looked at each other trying not to laugh and I said "No, not really, a lot of interesting people out tonight." "Oh, well, I'm glad you

Sky starts to push me behind him and I pull him back saying to these two "Look, we don't want any trouble, we're leaving." "I don't think so" says the knife guy. "Get back Sky" I ordered firmly and he took a step back as I squared off against the guy with the knife. As he lunged, I moved my right foot for bracing and used my left fist in a hammer strike to a point on his forearm where I knew it was weakest. He immediately dropped the knife. I grabbed that same arm with my left

They were just looking at us and smiling. One was close to our age, maybe eighteen or twenty. He had a pleasant face, but I wouldn't call him cute. He was thin, but toned, darkly tanned with long, sun-streaked hair tied back in a pony tail. He was wearing only a very short pair of rather tight cut-offs and had an expensive-looking camera of some sort around his neck. There was a sort of fanny pack thing strapped around his waist. He had a spider web tattoo on his left shoulder and both of his
