A lot of people have lied to Evan his whole life and he isn't angry? When are the lies going to stop? When is he going to be told the whole truth? I'd be incandescent with rage at this stage. Or have I missed something?

It angers me that the adults know what's going on with Mrs Mandragorn, but none of them have anything to say other than make fun of Davey. They're quite happy to spend his money, but they're not interested in standing up for him, or finding reassuring or encouraging things to say to help him feel better or shield him from the abuse. It was a different time, I get that ... but it's still abuse. As for his family, they're just indulging in a different form of abuse ... financial abuse. So angry, I don't want to print the word I have in mind to describe them.

I'm surprised Davey has no resentment over his spanking. I would have.

I think it's important to remember that our authors have lives too. This is a passion for them, not a job. I empathise with the frustration, but I think patience is called for here. Hang in there.

Thanks Rosicky, I appreciate the detail in your message. I was referring to the act of vigilantism which Chris gave in to. I had expected the 7 vampires to have been restrained and handed over for hearing and judgement. Chris is not a law unto himself, no matter how powerful he is. I completely umderstand his motives and the need to avenge his hurt and protect his loved ones, but he is not outside the law, human or vampire. He has to rise above his nature and be objective. His power comes with responsibility. I hope I'm expressing myself well enough.

I don't mean to be critical, but is there no one who seems to care about the ethics of using power responsibly? I mean, 7 vampires turned to ash and no-one blinks an eye?

I'd like to know more about the artifacts that caused his tattoos.
