  1. A nice bright sunny Sunday morning. Can't say warm, there's frost on my car here in Maryland. I experimented with poker last night. Instead of sleeping 4 hours, getting up at 3am and going to the casino, I just decided to nap for an hour around 9pm, got up at 10pm and went. I noticed that as it got later the "recreational" players (recreational is defined as people who work normal 40 hr/wk jobs) started to toss more and more money into the pot. It was like they didn't want to have to cash out. So I made $3500, played until 430am when the crowd really died down and then had a nice ride home! Hope everyone is doing good!
  2. Sorry to hear of your loss. Hopefully things will go smoothly with the organizing and the family afterward. I had to handle everything when both my parents died. I was already their tax man so I knew where every piece of important paper was.
  3. I am one of the world's pickiest eaters. That (plus the fact that Justin can mess up making a sandwich) is why I do all the cooking, that way I can control what we eat. As far as I know I've never eaten lamb, it's unlikely they've stuck it in a dish for rijstaffel in Amsterdam and that would be the only way I would have ever gotten any. I'm not sure why I'm so picky. I've always been that way, from childhood on. For example, I hate any meat with bones still in it. Also, can't handle the skin of anything being on it. So for me chicken is boneless, skinless. Steaks have no bones. I do cook prime rib with bones attached but they get removed before I bring it to the table to slice it. When we get lobster I've been known to ask the restaurant to remove all traces of the shell and just bring me the meat. One relatively fancy restaurant did that for me and then rearranged the meat on the plate to resemble the lobster.
  4. I'm not much of a spiced up food eater but enough cheese would fix anything! I do cook here but it's usually French or Italian. Had a great day here! One more day to go for my two weeks since the 2nd vaccine. Wednesday morning at 3am I'll be heading to the casino to play poker again for the first time since November. I hope I remember how!
  5. I also had some side effects from shot #2. I had like a low grade fever and a slight headache for about 36 hours. Then it all went away. My sister had no effects from her shot #2 but she had Pfizer, I had Moderna. Glad everyone is better now. I've decided that a personal chef is good. Justin and I went to his grandparents Saturday for dinner. They had brought in a chef and consulted with a sommelier to choose the wines for each course. The meal was fantastic, it was like being in a really fancy restaurant and probably didn't cost all that much more. They are still buttering me up I think to make sure I go along with all the grandiose schemes for the upcoming wedding. For this kind of food and wine I'll get married every year!
  6. Have you tried clicking on STORIES and ADD STORY? lol Seems pretty obvious.
  7. I haven't carried any cash since the pandemic started. So all the beggars are out of luck. When I tell them I don't carry cash they look at me like I'm lying. It's really bad when you're the first car at the light!
  8. Sorry to hear that but hopefully being positive doesn't mean being sick. I'm convinced there's a genetic component that controls who the virus affects in a severe manner. For example, in rural NC where it's full of Drumpyists, there wasn't as much mask wearing and I've had, at last count, one aunt and uncle (86 and 80) who tested positive, had nothing other than the temporary loss of taste and smell. Both had a lot of preexisting conditions. In addition I've had 10 1st and 2nd cousins who have tested positive, none of them even had that much of a problem.
  9. I got the Moderna vaccine and, like a lot of people, I had some effects after the second dose. The first dose I had no effects, not even a sore arm. The second one I had no effects the first day, the next day though I had a slight fever and a small headache. That lasted about 48 hours. Justin had the J&J vaccine, one dose, with no side effects. 6 more days for me and I'll be at maximum effectiveness! Then I'm going to the casino to play poker! Today is my big 70th birthday. Justin is making a big deal about the birthday, not the actual year. I've always said I'm no older than my boyfriend and he's almost 26 so I'm still just a twink!
  10. My 3 boys with Tony will get the first dose Pfizer vaccine on Apr 14. They are 18, 17, 15 but he'll be 16 by then. Somehow their doctor got the vaccine. Under 18 can only get Pfizer at this time. I suspect Tony had something to do with the quickness of this. In MD anyone over 16 can preregister now.
  11. Not so good today in my grocery store trip. They only had 9 of the cheap $1 hollow bunnies. Those are perfect size, like eating a Hershey bar. Now, do I go to the bigger store tomorrow and see if they have any? Or do I just pout at the lack of excess stock? At least they were 25 cents each.
  12. Happy Birthday @mollyhousemouse and @Reader1810. Also happy "Day Before The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies Go On Sale For 75% Off" to everyone! Last year was a bad year, only found 11 of the cheap $1 ones for 25 cents each. The year before had 44 of them, they lasted me until the end of the summer!
  13. Nothing much here. Waiting for my boyfriend to get ready so we can go visit the wedding planner. I would have thought we had plenty of time but evidently having a September wedding is cutting it close. How about you?
  14. I was under the impression during the Drumpy time that the USA was far behind other countries in vaccinations. Is it possible we're doing okay now? I live in MD, they are saying for everyone 16 and older to preregister and that by mid April they will start vaccinating everyone over the age of 16 who wants it.
  15. Is it one of the people you've had trouble with before?
  16. I'm not sure if these are side effects of the 2nd Moderna shot but I do feel really warm. I have, at most, a half degree higher temp. I'm normally 97.6 but today I'm at 98. Also just a really mild headache. Nothing that would stop me from doing whatever I wanted. I took an Excedrin Migraine and the headache went away. Probably gross overkill for that little tiny headache but I'm that way with most drugs. Other than that there's nothing new to report. The wedding planner, Justin and his parents and grandparents are handling all the arrangements. My only input lately was to make sure that our clothing has no sequins, glitter and that it doesn't light up. I told him I'd like to just do the full British Morning Suit, with top hats. He seemed excited about that, now to hope it's not some horrendously hot day when we actually do the ceremony. Don't get it wrong, I am interested and I do go to the meetings with the planner. They are far more into though than I am although I am getting more into the details.
  17. Fuck those parents also. Hypocritical bastards (and bitches, don't want to screw up gender slurs) need to figure out why they are such lousy ass parents. I have no sympathy for any of them. From reading that it's obvious more weed is needed! lol
  18. The suit isn't likely to work too well since they've never cared before what this company did to their shoes. I hope not, who cares what Nike says? That's like Chevy saying you can't restomod one of their cars after you've bought them and then later resell it. Happens all the time at the Barrett Jackson auto auctions. They never used Nike in the advertising, they did use it to describe what the base of the shoe was, like the chassis of a car. Typical of people who think they have a corner on morality when their religions have caused more deaths than anything else created by man. Fuck them. Without lubrication! (This rant not aimed at you Fae) Maybe I need some weed.... lol
  19. Well, I like weird shoes for one thing. I mostly buy Converse shoes, in 2019 I bought 27 pair. Last year because of Covid I only bought 4 pair. These were the first shoes I've bought in 2021. These shoes just look so cool with the pentagram, the soles filled with red ink (simulating blood) along with the one actual drop of blood mixed with the ink. Plus imagine the faces of my southern Baptist NC relatives when I show up later this year at our annual pre Christmas dinner. That alone is worth the $1018. Of course it could also cause a lot of comments at the poker room when I start back playing in May, I'll have to locate some devilish socks though. lol I could always just flip them for a substantial profit too although I've never actually done that. If I buy shoes, I wear them.
  20. That is the worst thing ever! I hate oatmeal and raisins and love chocolate chips. Yes, I've done it before but thankfully there was always a discreet trash can close enough to dispose of it. On another note, I managed to get through in the 1 minute before the shoes sold out today to get myself a pair of the Lil Nas X Satan shoes. Cost? $1018. Already on Ebay for prices from $1900 - $3000. Only 666 pairs made, each one individually numbered. The heel is filled with a red liquid that includes one whole drop of human blood.
  21. I get my 2nd shot Tuesday. Had no side effects from first Moderna shot except a sore arm for one day. Not where I got the shot either but closer to the elbow. I've heard a lot of people talk about how the 2nd Moderna shot kicked their ass so I'm prepared. Yesterday Justin was walking in the grocery store when the pharmacist that knows us asked him if he wanted the J&J vaccine because they had a cancellation so of course he said yes and now he's vaccinated. If I read things correctly he should be at maximum effectiveness about 4 weeks after the shot.
  22. On Facebook for the past couple of months I've been going back through the old pictures. As I've said, I'll be 70 next month and I have some pictures going back to the early 1900s of my grandparents and their children at young ages. I have about 20 family members on Facebook, all 1st, 2nd or perhaps 3rd cousins and they've gotten a big kick out of seeing their grandparents as small kids. Of course all those older photos are either black and white or, on occasion, hand colored by the studio. The ones that are black and white I decided to run through an online colorizer just to see the results and I have to admit in a lot of the cases it's been great. The clearer the picture the better the colorization. My oldest 1st cousin is 79 and when I colorized a photo of her as a kid with a lot of the other cousins, she remembered that dress. If you're interested in giving it a try I'll post the link to the page I use. It's totally free. https://playback.fm/colorize-photo
  23. Congrats on the biking. I was never good at a bike, as a young teen I once ran into a telephone pole, so not so coordinated on one. I gave up on bikes except for very short (5 blocks or so) trips. As soon as I turned 16 I got my driver's license and a car and never touched it again! I have about 10lbs of lockdown weight also. Mine will disappear when I get back to playing poker at the casino. I take adderall for focus (prescribed by doctor) and that pretty much eliminates the excess appetite and increases my metabolism.
  24. Those of you who have gone through a wedding. Did you have batshit crazy soon-to-be inlaws who wish everything to be over the top for their only son and grandson? I've decided (since they're paying for it all) that my job is to just nod and say yes but it's not easy. Yesterday the grandmother was saying they should have Justin sprinkled with red rose petals as he walks to me at the, for lack of a better word, altar. There's nothing "religious" in any way about any of the participants. Me - "How many rose petals would you need?" Her - "Maybe 50,000 ?" Me - Mouth gapes open, we'll have rose petals 2" deep I'm thinking Justin - "Do they all have to be red?" Me - OMG, he thinks it sounds good It's not really expensive, I think I looked it up and you can buy 5000 for $100 or so. It's just going to be an outdoor wedding (or tented if it's a bad day) and I can see it being a little windy. Can you imagine their entire neighborhood swirling with rose petals? Or the machine malfunctions and all 50k petals drop on my poor baby at once? I guess I'm just lucky they haven't gotten to the fireworks yet. It is funny, maybe it's an age difference thing but every comment of theirs indicates that, in their minds, he's the bride and I'm the groom.
