This story gave me a lot to think about, a kind of snapshot in time that was 2008, when i was in school. The news headlines at the time said scientists found the gay gene, and i remember the latent fear it created in the community, and rightfully so. Now in 2023, i think we see that sexuality requires a certain kind of nuance. Sexuality isnt a binary or black and white. Humans are part of a universe that is complex and as such are a reflection of that. The other thing i miss about the time was the pushback from our community to challenge the norms that eventually led to equal rights and the right to marry. And i liked how you reflected that pushback by not letting our culture die in the story. Personally, i think we lost a piece of our culture when we forced our way into being considered normal. Not that id want to go back or change that because nothing is worth the rights we achieved, but its still something to think about.
