  1. Maks felt like it all wasn't real, like he was floating somewhere between reality and dream. Right at this moment he was completely detached, unsubstantial and nameless, stuck in some limbo where all that mattered was the body he was holding in his arms. Only the closer to dawn, the more the reality was sinking back in and it was becoming obvious that it wasn't a dream, and that soon he would have to face the real world. He wanted to fight it, to stay forever in this obliviousness where the only
  2. @drsawzall, hm, I think she wouldn’t sober up so quickly if she was roofied, but who knows, maybe he did give her something. Or maybe she’s just got drunk and we don’t know if he would use the opportunity or not. We do know that he’s a pig who doesn’t take no for an answer. Time will tell how far he will go.
  3. @Mawgrim, maybe in Maks’s head it does justify him a little, but it definitely shouldn’t. Bad everyone. @centexhairysub, not a big fan of Ewelina, huh? Yeah, she’s hard to like, especially under the circumstances. No reader is actually on her side. But she had it coming, so. As for Wiki, let’s just pin in on her being sixteen and permamently intoxicated. Right... have they?
  4. He didn't know how he'd ended up in this awful place with all these corporate rats. He'd agreed to go with Ewelina to her office party and had been regretting it deeply for the last two hours, sipping gin and tonic on one of the couches and trying to telepathically let people know that he had no wish for them to approach him. He didn't get it. Ewelina used to be pretty bearable after all, she was also bearable when it was just the two of them, but all it took was to put her in this setting and s
  5. @drsawzall, everything but horseradish! I've shuddered a little inside. Yeah, maybe no one will ever find out that he knows anything. But they probably will, so the danger is definitely still there. @xleroc, there is no such thing as old, there's only just right I'm glad you've enjoyed it and felt you could relate. And if I've managed to capture the accompanying emotions at least relatively well, that's a huge relief. Thank you for your feedback!
  6. Thank you for your comments! @centexhairysub, yes, Maks definitely has it bad, but why is Aleks an ass? Aleks is a sweetheart! Mostly. @Mawgrim, thank you! Yes, something needs to happen fast, otherwise someone will definitely blow up. Thanks again!
  7. Maks entered his apartment and felt smoke. He frowned, going further in and then stopped in the kitchen door. Ewelina was standing by the stove, making popcorn. Or rather burning it. For some reason she was wearing a pin-up dress, all red in polka dots. She looked like a housewife from the fifties. She beamed when she saw him. “Hi honey!” she chirped, coming up to him and throwing her arms around his neck. Maks wrinkled his nose. “I’ve been telling you that you’re not supposed to leave
  8. @drsawzall, @centexhairysub, @Mawgrim, thank you for your comments! Yes, things are starting to get out in the open, there have been a few realizations and even more getting into trouble. I certainly hope it’s going to be interesting!
  9. “And I was thinking about white and light blue, what do you think, baby?” ‘Baby’ didn’t think anything, cause he was just pulled out of his slumber. “What?” he said apologetically, earning himself a glare. He tried very hard not to yawn. It got to the point that the freaking kid was depriving him of sleep. He didn’t hear from Aleks since that morning text, which was thirty four hours ago, and he’s hardly slept at all last night. He was just sitting around and fretting instead. He
  10. @centexhairysub, yeah, there's a lot more of deceit ahead of us. And @drsawzall, the answer is - everything 😃 Thank you everyone for your comments!
  11. Thank you, @petrus, that's really nice to hear. I'm a little self-conscious about it, as I've always paid a lot of attention to linguistic correctness, which is twice as hard while using a language you don't feel so comfortable with. So it's good to know that I'm not butchering the English language too much. And no worries, I'm definitely going to keep publishing. Though I have to say that there is a lot of very high-quality writing on this site, both in aesthetics and language, especially for the internet standards. But I might not catch the mistakes as easily while reading.
  12. Maks was woken up by the noises coming from his living room, surprising him once again, because he was still used to silence. He got up reluctantly and left his bedroom half asleep. He vaguely remembered how angry he was when he was watching Aleks with Wiki last night, but now this resentment returned in full force. He saw Aleks leaning over the table telling some story animatedly and Wiki who apparently couldn’t stop giggling and felt as if he was filled from head to toe with some treacherous,

No worries! Yes, there are a lot of us everywhere and I admit that many Polish people are fantastic, I supposed there’s no rule like with everyone else. Drop by next time you’re in Europe

First, not at all and I happen to be a woman and a straight one at that. Second, no, it’s definitely not that bad. I know plenty of out and proud gay people, LGBT organizations in Poland are very active, but we have an awful government right now that is very conservative and openly anti-LGBT (they’re also populists and they tell people what they want to hear, and I’m afraid more Polish people are homophobic than not, especially their voters). That creates a lot of tension, which might be a good thing, cause it means we’re being heard. But it also doesn’t make gay people feel protected by the state at all, which is not good considering the general hostile atmosphere. That being said, Poland is wonderful yet frustrating, but it has good parts and I think things will keep getting better I’m glad you’re fond of it! Have you ever been?
  15. Maks couldn’t believe that he let himself be talked into it. He never liked crowds. He was a little claustrophobic, people pressing into him from all sides were making him anxious, he wanted to run and hide from this racket, but there was nowhere to hide. There were just Aleks, who had his wrist in steely grip and was pushing forward like a juggernaut, and Maks, clutching at him desperately, but still looking around, unwillingly captivated. It was dark and bustling. The only lights wer

Yes, as it’s all third person, I’ve gave myself freedom of changing point of view depending on the need, mostly from Maks to Aleks and back, though we will also follow someone else once or twice.
  17. The bell already rang and Aleks was late again. He tracked a pretty blonde next to her locker and snuck up behind her back. “Let’s skip math,” he informed more than asked in a blasé tone. Sonia turned in surprise and then deflated when she saw him. “Ok,” she shrugged without any objection and put her textbook back into the bag. They left through the main entrance, not even trying to pretend they weren’t cutting class. Aleks lit up a cigarette as soon as they were outside. Sonia twisted
  18. I actually meant that Ewelina loved Aleks, not Maks (though she probably loves Maks too, in her own way), and loved in much more casual way - as further explained, she wanted Maks to find some friends on his own, so when she met Aleks, she loved him, cause Aleks is pretty fun and Maks was finally engaging in an interaction with someone. Still, it was a thought in Maks’s head and his suspision on what she was feeling. And now I’m panicking that it’s not clear enough, so I’m going to check that part. Yeah, maybe you’re right about her, or partly right. I try not to write anyone either fully awful or fully awesome, so while she definitely has her flaws, she might not be that bad. Thank you @Marty for the comment and I’m very glad that you’re enjoying the story so far!
  19. I certainly hope so!
  20. Hahahah, I have to admit, didn’t even cross my mind. Let’s be honest, even Maks doesn’t care about his own job interview, why should I? No, seriously, Maks’s job (if he gets it) will be both mysterious and boring. Sorry!
  21. @centexhairysub, unfortunately it will take a while for the plot with the police to develop. We will get to know the other side first. Glad you like it, thanks for the comment!
  22. Aleks woke up to the sunlight peeping through the old, scruffy lace curtains. It had to be that first warm day of spring they were forecasting for ages. His thoughts immediately went to his aviators and ripped jeans, uselessly gathering dust at home, and that new suede jacket he bought back in October. He let himself float between dream and reality, thinking about future plans, loud gunshots, funky clothes, sex and inconspicuous blonde that got caught up in his life at the beginning of the weeke

@centexhairysub, yes, I see you've done your homework though it is slowly getting better, we're still not where I would like us to be and things have been especially heated and tense lately. I actually think that along with the story's progress it becomes evident that I've played it down a bit, maybe I'm just unable to fully put Polish unreasonableness into words, but just as self-justification - there's a huge gap between Warsaw and the rest of Poland. It's hard living here and hearing we're such a conservative nation and not feeling like these are two completely different worlds clashing. Thanks for your comment!
  24. @drsawzall, exactly, nothing’s set in stone yet, everything can change. And probably will @centexhairysub, good to know that confusion is good sometimes, I promise things will start clearing up soon. Thank you for your feedback!
  25. Maks woke up feeling like his skull was splitting in half. He tried to open his eyes, but regretted it instantly. Jesus, he couldn’t remember the last time he had such a nasty hangover. Why was he hangovered? It wouldn’t be so bad if only his head hurt, but his back and neck weren’t in a very good shape either, his whole body was uncomfortably bent. What’s even worse, something was stuck between his ribs. He blinked painfully. Oh, it was Aleks’s foot. Or a heel, to be specific. Aleks’s fuck
