The transmitter is roughly the size of a deck of cards so could easily be concealed in a cassette case after removing the tape. Gray has now departed so there's no-one apart from the police tracking the device... All Trevor has to do is contact the authorities and let them know that the transmitter is headed to Bridget. Nassau might become a very hot destination for the Sea Witch. I wonder if Xaviers homophobia is going to get him into trouble.

Circumnavigation (99+44) Prelude to Betrayal
Winemaker replied to C James's topic in C James Fan Club's Topics
Tahiti certainly seems to be the destination as per the clues.2 I've thought for a long time that Bridget has an agenda with the cartel over her daughter's death... What better way to get access to the hierachy that to infiltrate the organisation and set her nepharious plans in action. 3 All the retribution threats involved with the video tape of course depend on the cartel KNOWING that "someone" has seen it. So far only Bridget probably knows that it has been found (via the news article about the assets list) It hasn't been mentioned that the cartel knows so hopefully this leaves the boys clear to get it to Bridget and end things..... It probably wont happen that way of course... I think Bridget is probably the only one of the cartel to know that the tape has even been found LOL I guess she could kill herself over it. -
Circumnavigation (99+44) Prelude to Betrayal

Trevor said before changing course... “We need a copy before sending it to anyone, plus hiding and waiting for the police to do stuff isn’t working". and later “Remember that statue in New Zealand? Wairaka. She saved everybody by doing what she wasn’t supposed to.” Julie may be put in a situation of doing what she wasn't supposed to by viewing the video tape Whether she is a part of the cartel or not it would put her life in jeopardy to have viewed it. Then the boys could force her into betrayal because she is already compromised. Trevor knows that Julie was Bridgets college friend and he probably suspects her of being Bridgets spy on him for years. He says....“There’s something that’s been bothering me for a long time. I’ve been thinking about it more and more since we left Carnarvon, and I’ve been kinda toying with the idea of doing something to find out, but I didn’t want to do anything about it – we didn’t need to, then. I didn’t want to know for sure I guess, but now… if I’m right, it might be the answer.” Further on he says...“I don’t want this to be true, I really don’t, but there’s just one way to find out for sure. If I’m right, I think we’ve got a way to let Bridget get exactly what she wants and end this once and for all. They may force Julie to copy the Tape and then make her give the original to her friend Bridget... Kinda makes sense with all the clues.... -

You know you may be right about Julie betraying Bridget Trevor talked about making a copy of the tape and maybe he's thinking Julie has the NTSC machine to do it but if she sees the tape then this is what CJ says will happen... Quote: "The tape Arnold had created was a weapon, though one bearing two edges; the cartel was strong enough that some of it would largely survive a war with its rivals, though all sides in such a war would suffer. The cartel would, perforce, seek the death of anyone with knowledge of the tape’s contents – or should those contents be revealed, all of the parties responsible would be forever marked for death. Their culture of revenge and example would tolerate nothing less" Thus Julie, upon viewing the tape, like Trevor and Shane becomes "marked for death" Surely that would give her motivation to betray Bridget and the cartel if she has any clue as to their methods of operation. It will make for interesting reading in the next chapter -

LOL of course Bridget is two faced... I think Arnold had his reasons and motivation to blame Bridget on the tape (which he meant to become public) but Bridget was on her own (In private she had nothing to prove to others) when she expressed her sorrow and desire to "do what she could and hope it was enough".... Grieving parents often blame the other partner but Bridget seems to have an uterior person or persons that she believes she can do something with to get closure. It's the reason I discounted Arnolds speach on the tape. -

I'm really not sure where this idea comes from that Bridget killed her own daughter. Her actions in the earlier part of the story certainly contradict this.... Quote: Bridget said, walking over to the mantle and gently picking up a black-framed photo, whose subject bore a superficial resemblance to Lisa. “It’s been so many years now, but it still hurts,” Bridget said, in a choked whisper. Then she returned her dead daughter’s photo to its place, and said in a firm tone. “I shall do what I can; I just hope that it is enough.” I think Bridget certainly seeks revenge for her daughters death The quote above seems to confirm it . As I mentioned before betrayal is a very interesting concept The dictionary even mentions that it could involve a plot twist. Julie seems the obvious choice for a betrayal but you never know with CJ -

Hmmm Grundig is not a policeman.... He's a customs officer and has a lot less access to areas of security than you may think. He has also involved the federal police in the placing of a tracker on Atlantis and it's subsequent removal and knowledge of the number of Trevors satelite phone. If they are keeping an eye on this and it seems by the information in the chapter that they are, then it would give Grundig away to them if he used it in some way to track Atlantis. I think you'll find that Grundig is just a bystander that Fowler kept in the dark to keep the numbers of people in the know about his nephews security to a minimum. -

About Bridget and the FAE.... I still believe it's her intention to ruin them all over the death of her daughter . She's a woman who never gives up on grudges and someone involved with the drug business caused her daughters death. The reappearance of the doll may be linked to this. Keeping with your thoughts about betrayal... Maybe Grey will betray the syndicate by becoming a supergrass it would certainly get him out of the sticky (or should I say prickly ) situation he's in..... Just a thought -
Circumnavigation (99+44) Prelude to Betrayal

Going back over early chapters it really seemed like Julie was a good friend to Trevor. She was a college friend of Bridgets and introduced Trevor to her. When she left for Tahiti she gave Trevor an email address to contact her. Maybe Trevor figures that he can hand over the tape to her (Julie) in Tahiti and thereby get Bridget et al off their backs.... If this is the case then I think Julie could betray them to Bridget. Grundig has offered too much help to honestly be considered a traitor. The glazed eyes etc are just a red herring from the goat. I think also that he would have been pressing the boys for information as to their current destination which he didn't do... All he did do was what he was asked to do as an officer of customs involved in the case Betrayals though can work both ways and maybe just maybe Trevor and Shane or any of the other protagonists may just turn the tables on Bridget and her cohorts and betray them..... Just a thought....... -

Just went back through the chapters and Julie seems to have gone to Tahiti which is in the right direction... and about the right timeframe. Methinks that it maybe her that is the betrayer -

I think you'll find that if the boys are headed due North at 1700 miles east of New Zealand that they are headed towards Hawaii certainly not Fiji which is due North of New Zealand. Why would Grundig help Trevor find and disable the tracking device if he was a crook..... it doesn't make sense... -

I still believe that Bridget has plans for the cartel. Her character has to be the most complex in the story and her motivations while seeming to be directed towards one thing are often multi- faceted. She's a clever and vindictive antagonist. So though Trevor and Shane must beware of her machinations, the cartel must also beware that they have a viper in their midst. The story has been a treat from beginning to now. CJ is a master at keeping us all enthralled over the last 36 months. Tuesdays wont seem the same when it all ends. Another great read CJ Cheers -

Circumnavigation (99+38) Manipulating The Beast

Sydney is certainly spectacular to approach by boat. The mention of the monorail reminded me that it is soon to dismantled. The state government here has decided that it's cost outweighed the tourism value. Personally I like it and will be sad to see it go. Bridget seems to have a lot of irons in the fire at the moment. She's a devious lady but with so many things going on it would have to make it easier for her to get burned. Lets hope the fire is nice and HOT! As usual another great chapter CJ -

Circumnavigation (99+34) Paved with Good Intentions
Winemaker replied to C James's topic in C James Fan Club's Topics
There seems to be three possibilities here for good intentions paving "a road to Hell"... 1: Joel and Lisa looking after Trevors car etc is one possibility. Though I think that it could be a red herring on the goats part. 2:Then there's Trevor, letting his Mum and Martin sail off in Ares for a sort of holiday that could have a firey ending.... 3: And of course there's Bridget being oh so nice and accomodating to the cartel by seeming to have all bases covered She's so efficient......... Hope the boys get to see Esperance.. Best beaches in Australia Good chapter CJ -
Circumnavigation (99+31) Dead Man's Hand
Winemaker replied to C James's topic in C James Fan Club's Topics
This chapter seems to imply that the cartel may have been responsible for Bridget and Arnold's daughter, Stacy's death (she was talking to friends about the cartel, then suddenly dies from an overdose) I think Arnold believed that Bridget was responsible for this and set the scene for her demise with the evidence on board Ares. Bridget on the other hand though needing that evidence done away with, hence the attempts on Trevors life etc... Has an ulterior objective I believe. That is the destruction of the cartel because of the death of her daughter who she, in her own strange fashion loved. So though Trevor and Shane are in danger from Bridget Re: the finding of Arnold's tape etc.. I believe the ones in more danger are the cartel who graciously accepted Bridget Belleview into their midst not realising that she is a wolf in sheeps clothing ... or is that goats clothing... Good work CJ -

Hmmm The video player must be an older one as most of the tape players in OZ over the last 15 years or so play both PAL and NTSC. Hope the tape is in good condition -
Looking at this again,it certainly makes you wonder about the manner of Bridget's daughters demise and her (Bridgets) motivations concering that... Wheels within wheels is an understatement. I wonder about a correlation between Rachel and Bridget here. Rachel obviously believed that what she did was for the best and the deception was to protect her family...(A very strong motivation) Bridget may have even stronger motivations (The death of a daughter) to accomplish her end game. All is not what it seems... Can't wait till Tuesday Great work CJ
