Shhh - don't tell anyone...I own stock in Kleenex....
lol - sorry bout that. A little anyways.
It's one of the things that makes Zach the way he is though, the issues brought up in this chapter. I think it helps everyone understand some of the things he does and thinks getting this glimpse into what he carries around inside him. In truth, I didn't really write this chapter to get people to feel sorry for Zach, but instead to understand him somewhat. At first glance I know his character seems a bit irrational and very exasperating. But from his perspective what he does and feels makes sense.
And yes, the lady on the phone after the car accident is his step mom. She kinda fits the stereotype no? lol
Thanks again for reading Lisa!
Thanks for sticking with the story Lisa - I appreciate it!
I totally agree with you too about Jason. I love that guy! And I love writing his parts in the story. He can be a bit over the top at times, but he's totally fun!
You've got to write that story Conner! I'll definitely read it!!! lol
And yeah, I really do love writing Jason's bits in the story. I've said it before, but I really do love that guy.
And the shower scene, well, uh, it made me blush writing it. But like I said to Nephy, it's all good!
GA is yielding to my dark side of pure mushiness! lol
Thanks for continuing to read Conner. I appreciate it. And to you - and everyone else - I do apologize for the cliffhanger. Well, a little bit anyway!
Oh sure! Laugh at a poor guy in need.... lol
Thanks for continuing to read Nephy! I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter. I had a few moments of blushing writing it, but eh, it's all good!
I have to confess, I hate them too. But on a selfish note it does help to bring the readers back - as long as you don't wait too long to take the story back up! But in my defense at least I'm posting the chapters pretty quick here at GA. Does that earn me forgiveness? At least a little! lol
Thanks for reading - I appreciate it!
GA was hungry maybe? Do we need to feed it??? lol
And you know I can't answer what is going on with Mark's reactions yet! That's why we use cliffhangers! lol
Thanks Lisa!
Thanks Lisa! I'm really glad you enjoyed the chapter.
And what can I say about Zach's parents? They are who they are I guess is the best way to say it. I suppose they aren't ever gonna win parents of the year, at least where Zach is concerned, but we still have to throw them some backhanded gratitude. Afterall, it's because they are the way they are that Zach turned out how he did and that directly led to him meeting Alex. (Ok - so the romantic in me always wants to find that good side no matter how far I have to stretch! lol)
Thanks Conner! I'm glad you enjoyed it. And I have to confess I love writing about Jason - simply love the guy! Writing his parts of the story was the easiest of all since he is so much fun.
Thanks!!! I'm glad you like the story well enough to keep following it. I appreciate it!
And I suppose the hurt thing is all relative. As you read the story I think it becomes obvious that Zach carries a lot of hurt, and the physical part of that is actually minor compared to the emotional. Lucky for Zach, Alex is there to help with both kinds of hurt!
Thanks Conner! I'm really glad you have liked my story so far. I must confess I really struggled with writing that dialogue. I knew how the conversations went and were suppose to sound, but getting them down on paper that way was a chore! It was definitely a learning exercise.
Thanks! I'm glad you have liked the story so far.
And I have a small confession. Those flashback scenes were actually a way of covering for my mistake of starting the story in the middle instead of the beginning. But it was a happy mistake cuz I kinda liked the way it turned out myself.
But I thought when vampires laugh it was a sinister kind of thing! lol
Thanks Nephy! I really glad you have liked my story well enough to keep following it.
Zach slowly rose, trying to keep from waking Alex as he crawled out of the bed. He glanced briefly at Alex and then stumbled through the dark towards the door. Alex opened his eyes, silently watching as Zach navigated in the dark. Alex sighed once Zach had left the room. This same scene had been going on for several days now and Alex was getting a little tired of it.
Alex sighed again as he remembered last Saturday. The night had been so special. It had been even more special since Zach had led
Whoops! I'm going to have to figure out how to go fix that! So much for my re-editing skills! lol Thanks for letting me know and for continuing to read my story. I appreciate it!
Thanks Conner! I appreciate it. As far as the pace, to be honest I sometimes wondered if I didn't jump around too much with the various flashbacks. So I appreciate knowing you thought the pace was good.
Thanks Lisa! I appreciate it. The Halloween party, and all the prep before hand, was a lot of fun to write. I expand more on that night in the next chapter too. And of course this chapter also expands on Zach's innate shyness and just how unsure of himself he is. A theme I think you'll see in just about every chapter.
Thanks Nephy! I really enjoyed writing this chapter actually. It was fun writing about some of those more funny moments - like Zach's reaction to medication. And I get to introduce Jason in this chapter and I simply love that guy! The Halloween party was fun too - we get to see more of that night in the next chapter too.
Thanks Cia - I appreciate it. I had a couple people prod me a little to cross post A&Z here. But I think the main credit can go to Frosty for convincing me to stop being lazy and post it already!
Thanks Nephy!!! A&Z was the first serious story I ever wrote and I think it is pretty apparent I had a learning curve going on during the first few chapters. I have toyed with the idea of doing a re-write, but I kinda like looking back and seeing how my writing style grew up with each chapter. I'm very thankful that so many liked the story enough that they kept on reading. Thanks again!
Zach woke with a start. He immediately relaxed as he felt Alex’s arms around him. The room was dark but there was enough light for Zach to see Alex lying next to him. As always, just the sight of Alex mesmerized Zach. Staring at Alex was enough to calm Zach.
"Another bad dream?" Alex murmured sleepily, blinking his eyes open. "Did you have the nightmare again?"
Zach snuggled in closer to Alex. "Yes, but I woke up before the end," he answered calmly.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Alex asked,
