  1. My heart swells with all the love for Cash.
  2. Don't we all!
  3. She's kinda feisty and definitely goes off script sometimes. But patients like Adrian probably demand a little "improv."
  4. I appreciate you taking the time to read and comment @JeffreyL I hope you enjoy what's to come!
  5. I sure hope so, cause I'm doing my best to emulate it! 😅
  6. I wouldn't go that far about Cash's feelings. His love for Jackson is fraternal at its core. There's desire there, but mostly one that aims to protect his friend from what he perceives as an "outside threat". Buckley.
  7. They always are.
  8. Cash is a true "ally". Such a joy to write him.
  9. Get your fans out!
  10. They have che-mis-try! I appreciate the sweet comment @Modified Cub 🙏
  11. I think I was that kid so it hits close to home. Not really a stretch to write. 😜
  12. It was actually a good decision I made. I had time to mature the story in my head. I'm stoked about going back to it. But yeah...it's dark shit.
  13. You and me both 😅
  14. Humbled as fuck by this comment!
  15. I used to watch that movie when I was a kid. Never really thought of that...but I suppose I do emulate that type of character with these "abusive parents".
  16. Adrian is a cautionary tale of what happens when you try too hard to prove someone wrong, and end up becoming the very thing that you were running away from.
  17. I'd put both characters you mentioned in the same unredeamable "box". Even if for different reasons. But you're definitely right about my "easter egg". And I'm surprised that no one clocked the "Clifford Chatterley" parallels yet...
  18. The heat had teeth that afternoon, the kind that nipped at your shoulders and curled around your neck like a sweaty lover. Mississippi sun didn't shine. It smothered. And out at the lake, every teenager with a pulse and a working set of lungs had taken up arms against the inferno with floaties, Bluetooth speakers, and enough gas station snacks to fuel a small militia. The lake shimmered like a sheet of glass, green and still around the edges, with dragonflies dartin' over the surface and th
  19. Seing this here...now I feel whole. 🥰
  20. Well, he did end up becoming a Silicon Valley type of tech entrepreneur. Ring a bell? 😅
  21. Adrian is drowning and holds on to emotions as life rafts. I don't even think he fully understands those emotions yet. In a sense, he "cheats" on his own mind, too. Old patterns die hard.
  22. This chapter was meant to show that NPD's aren't born but made. However, Adrian's actions were his. And he's "learning", slowly, to deal with their consequences. He's not a bad man. He just made bad choices. For which he needs to atone for.
  23. Always a pleasure to read your commentaries @peter rietbergen and I appreciate your constructive criticism.
  24. Your words humble me @Seraph28 you've been the most gracious reader, always willing to follow me wherever the story went. Thank you! I plan on two more chapter to wrap up the story. Hopefully with a nice "silver lining" bow.
  25. Damn! Maybe I should consider writing a romance next...😅
