  1. Nick is by far one of the most complex and nuanced characters I've written. I'm eager to see where he leads me, too.
  2. I appreciate the positive feedback. It means a lot.
  3. Welcome @Doha I hope you enjoy "A Bad Education".
  4. I'm pretty sure this is for you @Cane23 😜
  5. (Five Years Later) The bookstore was cathedral-still, the hush beneath the ornate ceilings more reverent than expected for a Tuesday in Astoria. Shelves towered like pews around the gathered crowd. Reporters lined the back rows, notebooks open, microphones poised, waiting. In the center of it all stood Nick. Dressed in a slate-gray jacket over a simple black tee, his hair longer than it had once been, streaked with silver that made him look somehow both younger and more mythical,
  6. Nah! Just a really cool club of people who love stories!
  7. Thank you for following me, my dear friend!
  8. Well, well, we'll...look who decided to show up! 😉
  9. My sweet @Cane23 each time you post a new chapter comment I get emotional. At this point, I can't help but wonder what it would be like, even though the prospect might seem unattainable, to sit with you and just talk. It's clear you're not only a remarkably cultured person but also an exceptionally compassionate one, too. Thank you. Once again.
  10. Our boy has come a long way. I'm so proud of him. I think Dean is just a really big fan of Nick's book. Bobby kept his past life pretty private once he moved on. But more on that later. August and Richard are the "Jeminy Cricket" of ABE, for sure.
  11. No judgement in this space. We're all just "clowning" our way through life. We're a mess. But, for the most part, a beautiful mess.
  12. (Five Years Later) The great windows of the lecture hall let in the pale hush of a late New York afternoon, rows of bodies hunched over notebooks, laptops, and cooling paper cups of coffee. On the small stage, backlit by an enormous screen, a renowned director with a shock of white hair and a reputation for arrogance leaned forward, gesturing emphatically. "But you can't faithfully adapt a novel," he said, sweeping an arm. "You must betray it. Gracefully. With purpose." A chuckle
  13. Beautiful analysis, as always. Lately, I find myself anticipating these. Thank you @Cane23
  14. This. At least, for now.
  15. I speak from experience when I say: it's hard to make smut "fresh". I've read and wrote enough of it to know. I still try to make my sex scenes different from each other, and make them fit the narrative. I'm glad you made a point to mention you're invested in the characters and their stories, which is and always has been the focal point of my work. The sex is just another layer. Some enjoy it. Some don't. Thank you for reading.
  16. Ain't that the truth! Adrian's scene with the therapist was meant to establish that the night which this chapter focused on was pivotal for his character. We're yet to cover the "in between".
  17. I hope so, too.
  18. It's a perfectly understandable feeling to have @Seraph28 These characters are flawed, some might even feel unredeamable. Regardless of the way I present things, stories establish unique relationships with each reader. That's the beauty of the experience. See you on the next one!
  19. (Five Years Later) The ticking of the clock on the wall was so faint, it might as well have been the heartbeat of the room itself. A soft, ceaseless percussion against the stillness. Adrian sat in the leather chair opposite the therapist, his broad shoulders slightly hunched, one hand gripping the curved handle of his cane. He was thinner than he used to be. His hair was cut short now, streaked with grey at the temples. Even the sharp gleam in his eyes had dulled, replaced by something
  20. My dear @Cane23 every single time you comment I smile. I know it'll be good. And I'm humbled...and slightly turned on by how well you dissect my work. Because you do it in a way that enhances it. Truly a pleasure to have you follow my writings and have you gift my comment section with such beautiful reviews. Thank you. So much. ❤️
  21. Thank you so much for the kind words @pvtguy
  22. Your clocked those NPD flags like a pro, @The Donling
  23. He's got good in him. It just needs to be "scooped" out.
