  1. I had to catch myself when I read your comment beginning with, “Dear author.” It’s seems uncanny to me to be called an author. I don’t think my work has reached that level. I would describe myself as a writer. You’ve obviously been paying attention to recall that much information about Elliot. Let’s see how things play out from here.
  2. “misidentifed Elliot as Stuart Churchill“ If that’s the case, whatever happened to Elliot? A “no show” at work. He completely evaporated into thin air while standing next to O and Ozzie.
  3. Dickie Lee sat bleary-eyed on a bar stool. Naked, his sweaty ass stuck to the cheap vinyl. A thin towel covered his privates. He glanced around the small bar before training his eyes back to the documents in front of him. Zoov sat next to him, a pen in his hand, studying Dickie Lee for any sign that he might back out of the deal. Blong and Nick stood nearby, ready to act as witnesses. Dickie Lee glanced quickly at Nick, his eyes clouding momentarily as he noted the outline of his cock, easily vi
  4. I’ve actually seen a $500 bill.
  5. Buy-bye, Cornish!
  6. What’s fun about your comments, Scrubber, is that there are enough tangents to spin off a whole host of stories, even if they don’t come true in this one. I take this as the highest compliment because it shows me the characters are rich enough to inspire this kind of imagination. And, despite what you might think, I write for character above all else. Thanks so much Scrubs!
  7. Two very good relevant questions. “Who is he?” ”Where did Elliott go?” you might be onto something, good Dr.
  8. Interesting hypothesis, Scrubs. Yes, and about that local man? When I think about the mysteries and thrillers I’ve most enjoyed, those that craftily send the reader in all kinds of confusing directions are the best ones. I’m not sure if this one qualifies as one of the best, but that’s been my intent. In contrast, John Grisham, who I’ve read faithfully, gives away the ending in the first chapter, clearly delineating the bad guys from the good guys. I’ve played around a bit with a glossary of characters but it seems to me to be redundant. One of my readers scolded me for naming over 80 characters in this story. That might be a stretch. Read on!
  9. Thayer squeezed his eyes shut, an attempt to block out what was happening. Think of something else, be somewhere else, with someone else, he repeated over and over in his mind. He’d made up his mind earlier in the afternoon. Staring out from the dock at The Bar and Gas over to Ledecker Island, he finally decided to let C.O. take his cherry. Not just let—he wanted him to do it. Hard. Rough. In a loving way, but still forcefully. Stinging pain as his anal ring was pierced, pressure deep insi
  10. Good to know. I may possibly do something like that before the story is finished. I would likely go back and provide short summaries and/or character identification at the ends of chapters.
  11. “Loves sex.” He’s one big fat erogenous zone. “Oblivious” to say the least.
  12. Just wondering if it would have been helpful to re-describe each character as they are used in each chapter…or perhaps providing a key or chart at the beginning…or, just continuing to work this through, perhaps a character summary at the end of each chapter.
  13. Again…there is a clue embedded in this narrative. Apparently, you haven’t picked it up. Has anyone else?
  14. “Let me know if you see Dickie Lee,” he said over the phone. “I need to speak to him,” he added quietly. The way he said it, in a dark low tone, made Ethel a bit queasy. “You know his brother just got killed. He was pushed off of a subway platform,” she said. “So?” “So, he’s probably got other things on his mind right now,” she replied with a huff. Then, it suddenly occurred to her that he might have had something to do with Louie Lee’s death. “Don’t tell me,” she started to

    Chapter 7

Entertaining, to say the least. I have to admit that I’m not all that crazy about many of the pictures.
  16. LOL…well, politicians are the most corruptible class of people. Same about Mel although you should give the Fibbies a little more credit.
  17. A collision course is being set-up. Good summary, Scrubber!
  18. Both Scrubber and Chris are right…lots going on. I’ve learned from all of the mysteries I’ve read that multiple story lines tend to loosely swirl around until they begin to slowly (or quickly!) converge. Then, hold on for the ride!

    Chapter 6

You really know how to write a sex scene!
  20. Let’s see. Where are we at, Shamus asked himself? Back in his home office, he reviewed his notes from the beginning, adding and crossing out notations in the margins, using a yellow hi-lighter in some cases. The murder victim, a Mafia hit man. After the dirty deed, the perp probably heading toward either Dickie Lee’s place or Linnie Lee’s. Based on his interviews so far, it was doubtful Linnie Lee was a central figure. The woman had some serious issues, a drinking problem and a gamblin

    Chapter 1

Beautifully written narrative. Can’t wait to read what happens next.

    Chapter 19 Kara

See my response to Scrubber’s comments. For the second part of your comment: Odd that C.O. has not thought about nor did he have any reaction to the photos Thayer sent him.

    Chapter 19 Kara

I dare say that there might be a clue buried in this narrative, if you think about it, Scrubber.

    Chapter 19 Kara

Deck got back in his vehicle. Taking a long breath in and out, he started the engine and pulled away from the curb. A couple of minutes ago, after getting over the shock of hearing about his brother and the horror over how he had died, his mind was filled with a million thoughts at once. Planning a funeral, finding Linnie Lee, telling Dickie Lee, the properties, the bank. Oh, and that fucker, Fred. That money would come in mighty handy right now. And then, another thought struck him l
