  1. "We have a bit of a problem. Jason." Gordon stared at Hugh, who had loomed over his desk as soon as he and Gordon had arrived in the office. "One of the outside guys on Friday?" "Yep. Well, it seems that he was hit on by a couple of blokes." "Yeah, well, they got a bit lively. I thought no harm done, what did you think, Brian?" Brian shrugged, "The guys seemed OK when we closed things down, no-one had any beefs, and most were joking about incidents like that. What's this abou

Plenty more to come, sorry Colin's chapters sometimes come out a bit compact.

Thanks, I had rather suspected that it was of Northern origin (as am I)

Yes, isn't besom a lovely word. One that I dug up from my youth, and not one I actually use in everyday speech, alas.

Colin stared at the email and pressed send. He was doing it on his laptop at home, he didn't trust using his phone, his typing left a lot to be desired and this email had to be right. Well, two emails really. He had been sitting on the emails from Annalisa, knowing he ought to answer them but not knowing how. The first email from her had simply been a couple of pictures of the girls in their party frocks. He had replied simply 'Cute', but then another had come through, this one was of the g

  7. Holiday imminent!!
  8. Though Russ had the penthouse over his offices, he also had a separate flat away from the business. This was in a new block that had caused some controversy because of its height and proximity to the Cathedral, but it meant that Russ' top-floor flat had superb views of the Cathedral and Cathedral Close. It was generously proportioned but not large. A double-height main room had one wall of glass with the spectacular view, and this room contained the living, dining and cooking areas, with a
  9. All will be revealed shortly. In a fun way, I hope.
  10. No dark plot, and I've never planned out the illness. I prefer to keep it vague. Sorry!
  11. I I'd never thought of it in those terms before!!
  12. Owain won't be disabled, this is as dark as it gets, and as for the rest of your questions, watch this space!
  13. I agree with that!
  14. I was thinking of Aperol, but there are others too, all alarmingly coloured!
  15. Waiting in A&E was definitely not how I had planned to spend Monday morning. I had woken up feeling like shit, and more, and realised that I had woefully overdone it at the weekend. So, it was a taxi to the hospital and the pleasures of casualty. It took a few hours for me to be properly seen to, and then to my horror, they decided to keep me in 'for observation'. To give them their due, they didn't know me from Adam. If it had been at my usual hospital in London, I would probably have gone

I can see that my plotting is perhaps a little lacking in jeopardy. The guys will have challenges but nothing too horrendous, though I have another story on the stocks however...

Sorry, I do have to check on my re-use of names, but lovely idea the 'other' Nathan stripping. No idea where Knocking shop comes from, its use dates back to the 19th century but its slang/humorous now and may be a bit of local idiom.
  18. Russ Kahn’s party was being held in a former Victorian warehouse that had been turned into an event space. It was essentially a well-appointed blank canvas. Neither Gordon nor Brian had heard of it and Ares had never done a job there, it was more often used for product launches and weddings. It wasn’t huge, but Russ’ parties were regular events for smaller groups of people rather than him having one big, messy annual bash. Ares was providing the usual site security along with the fancier on

Thanks for all the positive comments. It's a long time since I was a horny teenager, so evoking those times was a challenge.

I am happy to say that Colin will come out of his shell a bit more in future chapters!

I have deliberately kept the details of Owain's illness vague. Ulcer works well, as do a few other things. I felt it was more interesting to let readers fill in the gaps!
  23. Well, that had been interesting, perhaps my idea of going on holiday together was a bit previous. There had been moments when we had rather rubbed against each other, our vastly differing experiences of going out and travelling, also Colin’s far greater interest in and knowledge of food, my tendency to plunge in heedless. Then there was the matter of the restaurant bill, it had clearly surprised him. I was rather worried it was too expensive, but he'd not said anything. We walked in silence for
  24. Noah and Toby dashed into the apartment building, eager to get to Brian and Gordon’s flat and pursue whatever enthusiasm they were currently sharing. Brian suspected that the flowering of one of Toby’s new plants might have something to do with it. Marina, however, remained standing outside as if it was the most natural thing in the world, or perhaps she had changed her mind and didn’t want to come in for a drink. Noah was spending the night, they were doing Marina and Val a favour, but Toby was

The hotel was, frankly, rather swish. It was certainly classier than the Travelodges or Premier Inns that Colin was used to. Yet, Owain was rather low-key about it. So much so that he apologised. "Sorry, when I was convalescing, I spent quite a lot of time staying in Premier Inns in nice places, the Lake District and such. This is similar, just a bit classier in design. But don't be kidded, it's all by the yard." The pictures caught Colin's eye, they fitted in with the room's decor, "I
