Chapter 1 - High School Confidential
ChromedOutCortex commented on ChromedOutCortex's story chapter in Chapter 1 - High School Confidential
Hi - Thank you so much! It gets better... but I am a little biased. 😉 I totally agree with you -- loneliness is hard and high school can be brutal especially if you are coming out or are outed -- actually, in any case high school is brutal. Back when I went, I could maneuver easily but I know not everyone can. -
I hate to admit it, when I first logged onto Facebook I was hooked. I joined dozens of groups, and spent hours with them instead of my own family. Then I discovered online game, and spent a lot of money -- never into the thousands, but enough that I was embarrassed to spend money on micro-transactions that I finally just stopped - cold turkey. I still get the pull every now and then but realized there are more important things in life. SM can be addictive and is addictive. Admittedly I am often doom scrolling late into the night when I really should be sleeping or doing something more productive. Thank you for reading, and sharing your thoughts!

Thank you Peter... I have a bad habit of scrolling through SM when I should be spending time with friends/family and while scrolling TikTok saw that people were posting anything and everything to the point that you probably knew them better than they knew themselves. I wondered what would this look like if you became obsessed. In reality, I'm sure most creators need to be obsessed because one the $$$ starts flowing, it's hard to go back to the regular grind. Thank you for reading, and sharing your thoughts!

The bell rang, its sharp, metallic tone cutting through the hallway noise. Lockers slammed shut, and everyone rushed to their next class, but I stood leaning against my locker. It felt like I was underwater, the sounds around me muffled and distant, like they didn’t quite reach me. I adjusted my backpack, feeling the familiar weight settle on my shoulders. It wasn’t just the textbooks inside that made it heavy, though. It was everything else—the stares, the whispers, the way people who used

In The Dreamer, Mason and Robert navigate life’s trials, love, and self-discovery against the backdrop of a society not always ready to accept them. Starting in college, their connection deepens as they face family rejections, identity struggles, and career pressures. Together, they build a life marked by resilience and unwavering love. Over time, they marry, have children, and create a lasting family legacy. As they grow old, the enduring symbol of their bond—a ring forged from a meteorite—becomes a reminder to their children and grandchildren of a love that reached beyond time, built on courage, devotion, and unity.

Esperanza, still a descendant of a long line of curanderas, holds a secret. In addition to carrying the traditions of healing, she has long struggled with her own sense of identity. She never fit the mold her family expected of her, especially regarding whom she was supposed to love. Esperanza has fallen for Lucía, a woman who works with her on community projects, but fear of rejection has kept her quiet. Unfortunately, it is.

Thank you for reading! I appreciate the kind words.

Hey - Thanks for reading, I noticed that as well after someone else suggested it. Funny, I read this like a dozen times and didn't spot it! I will go through and fix the errors. Thank you for the feedback!

Eric went into the beach house and started preparing dinner. I had set the BBQ up on the deck, and the rest of the guys had decided to play in the water. It felt so good to be out here—the warm summer air and the cool ocean breeze played off of each other perfectly. For a moment, it felt like everything was just as it used to be. From where I stood, I could see the others splashing around in the waves. Michael and Jason were horsing around, laughing like they didn’t have a care in the

Thank you for that suggestion! I've used Grammarly for work related stuff but never thought about using it for creative writing. Working on a story right now, and will enable it and see what suggestions it provides.

Thank you for the kind words! It means a lot to me.

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.

You are right; good friend of mine is closeted and it's driving him crazy. He's not willing to meet up with other guys because he's still married, and doesn't want to cheat on his wife. Some of us have difficult paths to follow. Appreciate your kind words! I'm working on another story that is sort-of a biography but a lot of fiction added to it. Deals with coming out later in life.

Thanks - I think I've done that a few times (I think)! I'll pay more attention to that. I hadn't even noticed after re-reading it!

This would be our last summer together—one last chance to hold onto the friendships that had shaped who we were. We had practically grown up side by side, seeing each other through the messiness of coming out, the heartbreaks, the nights when the world felt too big to handle. You could never ask for a better group of friends… but, as quickly as we had begun, it was slowly coming to an end. Most of us were done with university, and we were finally stepping into the rest of our lives. That meant s

The room was bathed in a soft, golden light as the sun began to set, casting long, lazy shadows across the bed. Andrew lay on his back, his arm around Eric, who rested his head comfortably on Andrew’s chest. The steady rhythm of their breaths filled the quiet space, blending seamlessly with the faint hum of the world outside. They had fallen into one of those effortless conversations, the kind that drifted from topic to topic without needing direction. Eric absentmindedly traced circles on

Andrew and Eric, wrapped in the warmth of a sunset, share a quiet moment together. As their easy conversation shifts, Eric asks about Andrew's past, hoping to learn more. Reluctant at first, Andrew finally opens up, recounting a vulnerable and intimate story about his first love—an encounter with a closeted athlete that shaped his view on relationships and self-worth. As Andrew reveals the bittersweet lessons of his past, the bond between him and Eric deepens. Together, they reaffirm their commitment to building an honest and loving future, unburdened by the ghosts of yesterday.

Hmmm... interesting idea. Thinking about it, maybe there is a way for Dan and Ryan to reconnect. I hate seeing a good relationship go sideways, even though it does happen IRL. I'm over exaggerating the dependency on social media, and sites like TT. I've never been on OF but can guess what goes on there.

Thanks - yeah, as I re-read the story I see some areas that I could tighten things up. I'll keep that in mind for the next one and perhaps "fire" my editor/reader (he's a friend - not a professional; I'm joking, of course).
-
Thank you! I'm happy you enjoyed the story.

Hmmm... as I re read this, I see what you are saying. Perhaps I was a bit to abrupt in ending the story and not exploring their chemistry a little more. I will keep this in mind. Thank you so much!
