  1. Hope: It is hope, the very thing that enables us to break through barriers and achieve the impossible. "The Lancelnopt Synchrotron Radiation only appears after a psychic has accumulated a certain level of power. There's no concrete standard to quantify exactly how much," I switched to the next slide, keeping a close eye on the mutt to see if he had fallen asleep. He always seemed particularly distracted during theoretical explanations. Ah, teenagers. "What is 'Lancelnopt Sy
  2. I don’t want to spoil the surprise, so let’s keep watching!
  3. Momus' role is definitely crucial!
  4. I stared at the dark brown metal door in front of me, lowering my hand from the air for the 6,321st time. I exhaled through my nose and looked down, continuing to pace nervously. Damn it, damn it, damn it. You've got this. This isn't difficult at all. You're the wolf, for crying out loud! Social interaction is like a genetic code imprinted into every cell of your cursed body. Now, like a man, go knock on that door! Uh...isn't that a bit of a gender stereotype...? No, no, no, this is no
  5. In the previous Chapter 2.3, Richter's actions triggered the awakening of Piqsirpoq's psychic abilities, allowing him to actively use his powers. However, his subsequent performance—including the flawless athletic skills he demonstrated during the Selection—was entirely his own ability.
  6. @P. E. Knapp Richter is indeed connected to this little incident, but from his perspective, he will never grasp the full truth of it. There will be many indirect and scattered clues—perhaps readers who enjoy puzzles will be able to piece together the truth! Let's look forward to it!
  7. The Selection wasn't disrupted to the point of being ruined, and its fairness remained unaffected, so the entire process will continue as usual. The forces behind it only needed some information, so they didn’t take any overly complex actions.
  8. We arrived on the ground, somewhere on the hillside of the Colosseo, not far from the estuary judging by the position of the seawall. The air carried a faint, salty moisture, a scent I had never encountered before. I licked my nose, tasting the bitter tang of the sea breeze as it blossomed on my tongue. The trees around us swayed in the wind, their branches whispering a soft, serene melody. Near Hadrian's Wall, there were only coniferous forests and arrow bamboo*, so this was my first
  9. We’ll find out soon!
  10. Richter is also an alpha-level psychic, but he is indeed the most powerful psychic of his time.
  11. The transport pod to the Colosseo's surface moved with a slow but steady rhythm. I could hardly feel any shaking, only the occasional metallic clanking sound as we passed each floor. "Master Ontara tried to influence me with some kind of wave," I said, glancing at the floor numbers slowly increasing on the capsule's door--Level B368--seriously? "That bastard," Qana snorted in displeasure, though his statue-like expression and posture didn't change. "Did you feel anything?" "No." I
  12. Kid always tend to believe in certain things.
  13. Sorry if I didn't express myself clearly before and caused any misunderstanding. Serfs are still slaves and fully meet the definition of slavery. While most of them are high-tech engineers, they are still considered property and lack freedom of movement, among other restrictions. However, their living standards are quite different from what one might typically associate with the "slave" class—in fact, in many ways, they are even above common citizens.
  14. I can understand your perspective, but this is a relatively resource-scarce era, and many things are done out of necessity. The setting is roughly 4,000 years in the future, where sea levels have risen, and global warming and extreme climate issues are severe. As a member of the upper class, Richter's perspective rarely exposes him to these things. Richter will gradually start thinking about more things.
  15. Lyre and Sand: "'Build the empire with wheat, not sand.' It's said that I dance amidst the flames, playing the lyre and singing." After meeting with Qana yesterday, we practiced with longswords until late into the night, which might have exhausted me too much. It wasn't until I heard a distinct sound that I woke up. Opening my eyes, I saw the sword master threading the belt through the loops of his pants. I wanted to look away because it felt really weird, but I couldn't. The sight

The main reason is that I can only publish one chapter per day at most, so I have to choose which book to start with. In previous discussions with other readers, there was a consensus that Storm Wolf was the most suitable series to release first. If I had started with The Pale Blue Dot or Sigma Squad instead, we would have encountered the same need for additional explanations due to the intertwined storylines. After weighing my options, I ultimately decided to begin with Storm Wolf and release each work in the most suitable reading order. However, each series can be read independently. While readers may not get the full picture, each story is still complete on its own.
  17. Many thanks to @P. E. Knapp for the explanation. Just as P. E. Knapp said, Richter’s very existence already breaks the most fundamental rule—something everyone is well aware of. That’s why, in an earlier chapter, when Aether realized that Richter didn’t have a faction name, he immediately stopped Momus from continuing the conversation. As for Momus, he is unable (or rather, unwilling) to fulfill the responsibilities that are considered obligations for member of the Nyx faction. So when Richter said, "do not meet pack expectations," he was referring to both himself and Momus.

The next section will briefly explain a small part of this. Simply put, this society has no use for serfs or slaves. The feudal system is simulated to prevent sudden social upheavals that could disrupt future predictions. Most of the serfs are engineers, and "serfs" refers to a social class rather than a profession. A territory the size of a U.S. state requires around a hundred serfs to manage it. The details will be explored in another novel, Sigma Squad, specifically in the first major chapter, The Railroad. At the current uploading pace, that will be about three months from now. Yes, there will be plenty of evidence in the story to support this. Many other familiar yet slightly different names also refer to those planets or locations. The phenomenon mentioned in this chapter refers to the Overview Effect. When Richter was young, an accident required him to repair the starship, forcing him to take an unauthorized spacewalk. That was when he saw the Pale Blue Dot. This will be a long journey!

Sorry, this part of the worldbuilding is explained in more detail in another short story, The Pale Blue Dot. It's a bit complicated, but to put it simply—Wolfgang is the son of Maya and Richter, but Maya and Arthur are the true lovers. So, even though Maya and Richter are officially married, Richter has always considered himself merely a sperm donor and never saw Wolfgang as his son, since their marriage was purely political.

    Chapter 1

“The best way to get myself a man is to wear that stupid costume.” Well, I just happen to know a fandom that fits this description...
  21. Harmony: Life always finds unexpected harmony in unexpected places. The asteroid belt was not suitable for operations of a super-large vessel like the Empire's Heart, but I didn't want the carrier fleet to stray too far from their mothership, so I ordered the flagship to anchor as close as possible. At this time, the pilots of Gamma Squad should be handing over their mission to Delta Squad. I searched with my naked eyes among the countless floating rocks and ice chunks until I c
  22. Ah, yes, the future is shaped by countless small moments.
  23. Wordplay is always fun, but my English skills aren't quite advanced enough to design plot elements based on it. The naming conventions of the Nyx faction are all derived from the names of the children of the Greek goddess of the night, Nyx. Unfortunately, we won’t get to see a scene of Momus relieving himself, but he will be rolling around everywhere.
  24. The very event that led to the strict separation between different factions was Richter’s existence. He is the first hybrid between factions in a thousand years. Why this is considered taboo will be gradually explained later in the story. For now, the plan is only to send Momus away, which is already a difficult task. More details will be revealed as the story progresses.
  25. A smile is a powerful force shared across the universe!
