  1. That is exactly how I feel on the drug issue. From my personal experience there seems to be some kind of invisible social line between those people who drink and smoke weed, and those who do more hardcore drugs. I personally feel like how you have handled addiction (Aiden's mother, Trina) has been fine, as well as the intermittent drug use, and I just can't picture you writing a story that would make some young reader say "I want to do a line." On the other hand, I feel like there are probably a lot of people out there reading your stories who have not dabbled in sex yet, and that you should probably tread carefully in this area. Because they have not, your stories may be a primary basis of their imaginings of how their first time would be, and I can see how that could have effects on the impressionable. I don't think you should have to feel like you have to preach safe practises through your stories, and honestly I think the way you have handled it is perfectly fine.

    it's cooold!

This kinda stuff really makes me want to be an author, cause then you have the power over your characters . Anyways, good luke with that Christmas Rage! "I'm a rageaholic! I'm addicted to rageahol."
  3. Thanks guys. I've never been more drunk than I was last night. My memories of last night actually stop at a certain point, and I honestly can not remember how I got home, but hey, I survived. And yes, I am now hungover, so if you'll excuse me, I have to go wash the vomit off my clothes =P. JJ
  4. Time to inject a little humor into the forums . I just read a very amusing short little narrative that you should read if you want a chuckle entitled "The Boy Who Pierced His Labia". Here's the link. http://web.archive.org/web/20010410043509/...com/labia.shtml
  5. Happy birthday! It also happens to be my roommates birthday, so happy bday to you and him both =). JJ
  6. I've read Ender's Game and really enjoyed it. Does he have any other good books that I should take a look at? JJ
  7. I believe this is wrong and that 13 years old is way to young to be making that kind of decision. Sure the boy may have wanted it, but I think the teacher should have had a lot more common sense and self control. Kids may be more knowledgeable at a younger age now a days, but that does not make them any more mature or wise enough to make rational decisions about sexual relationships. They have their whole life to pursue these types of relationships, and by doing it so early, they have lost their innocent childhood (and there is no going back after you've stepped over that boundary). This teacher can not honestly say she was doing this for the kids benefit, because if she really cared about him, she wouldn't have done it. JJ
  8. Yes, happy B-day. Birthdays are fun! JJ
  9. Thats a good category to put mothman in =). Never saw butterfly effect cause I didn't think ashton could pull off a serious acting role, but I'll give it a try. Memento is definitely very good, The Game is good, and so is Mystic River. I didn't care for Secret Window cause what I expected to happen pretty much happened, and Jeepers creepers I thought was just a lame monster movie (no offense to you), BUT, I will admit that Jeepers Creepers 1 does contain one my top ten scary scenes in a movie - in the very beginning of the movie when they are driving on the highway and they pass the scary guy after he has stopped at his house, he stares at them and seems to be able to constantly face them without turning his body - its hard to explain but if you watch it i think you'll know what I'm talking about. I love those subtle scary things a lot more than the startling scary things, and thats why I recommended Mothman Prophecies. One "Mind F**k" movie I would add to your list is Donnie Darko. That movie messed me up, but I liked it, and would recommend people seeing it. As long as I'm recommending movies, I think Requiem for a Dream is a powerful movie and I really enjoyed it. I think it has a unique cinematography style that I find awesome. Just don't watch it if you are depressed cause it won't cheer you up =). JJ
  10. If you like suspenseful thriller type horror movies, I would have to recommend "The Mothman Prophecies". Now that I think about it, I'm not sure what genre I would classify this movie into, as it definitely has some creepy parts, but the over all feel is not horror. I can tell you there is no gore, but there are some neat plot twists, and nice performances by Richard Gere and Laura Linney. JJ
  11. Sorry, I removed the links. I just wanted to show examples of some of this anti-gay brainwashing that goes on. I geuss my main point was that its sad that some people, organizations, and relgions can't just let other people decide for themselves who they are, instead of forcing them into their version of who they "should" be.
