  1. But what do laws have to do with attitudes? How are laws going to change the squeamish attitudes so many people have about sex? And yes, the discomfort of the majority is even worse when it comes to same-gender or Gay sex? If the perception of sex as the "bogey man" were replaced by openmindedness and understanding this problem would not exist. Here is an example. Rape is still rape. By what right does anyone have to force sex on another? But consensual sex between those of the same gender is viewed as being sordid and depraved despite evidence of it's occurrence as soon as man first learned to walk upright and maybe even before. How does consensual sex between males constitute a "danger to the community"?
  2. Thank you very much one and all for the responses! Although some did hit a little too close to home. With regards to coming out my mind tends to wobble back and forth on the subject. There was a time when if a person asked the question,"Have you ever been married?", it was just a way of making conversation. Nowadays, this question is a way of asking,"May I see proof of your heterosexuality?". When the answer is "No", people start acting nervous,"Oh my God! What'll my friends think if they see me talking to this person?". The line from a conversation with my mother stands out,"I'll do anything to keep you here.", and it sounds like she means it, but perhaps its nice to be in demand, although she does have her own little circle of friends. The area known as "Five Points" in Jacksoneville, Florida, does provide a breath of fresh air, but bars and clubs are not my thing because the music is so loud as to make conversation impossible. Meanwhile its great to be able to hang out here and talk about things that really do matter! I get so fed up with Gay men all too often being portrayed as effeminate or as some species of subhuman. It is great to be able to hang out here!! Thanks!!
  3. For anyone living in a tolerant and/or liberal environment this thread might well be devoid of meaning to them. But for someone living in a part of the U.S. known as the "Bible Belt", the price of coming out can be very steep, not just in terms of having to endure the usual insults, but also to one's physical well being. While no one enjoys living a lie, it might be necessary to do just that in order to survive. Do the risks associated with coming out(insults, threats, and vandalism to one's house or car) justify the peace of mind gained from being able to relax and be one's self?
  4. For sure A & F has some really hot guys modeling for them! Anyhow, people that like raising hell over a bit of exposed ass-crack need to get a life.
  5. Hope this response is not frowned upon as spam or being off-topic. There are two works that have had a major impact on my life and way of thinking. "The Republic" by Plato is one, and "Animal Farm" by George Orwell is the other. So many think it right to injure others because "our cause is right and just". In the end all these people end up proving is that they are no better than their adversaries and sometimes prove to be far worse. The Bolsheviks, Jacobins, and various religious zealots make for vivid illustrations of this. In "The Republic" Plato concluded that man was not meant to know "the good", but could only come to an approximation thereof. So what's left? "A man has to live with himself, and he should see to it that he keeps good company" Anything else?
  6. Hi! I'm new here, and its lots of fun to be around like minded people!! There sure as hell is not any opportunity to do that irl!! Maybe joining this forum will encourage me to stop being so damn lazy and start writing. Even if it doesn't, its still fun.
