Hi y'all!
Five chapters ago, I thought: Mmmhh... that Wade was abused by his father, that's why he's so out of it during sex. Specially the way he described his sexual experiences. But maybe it was my own crazy self who has watched far too many movies. After reading the last chapter I started clicking to find Mark's email and share my conspiracy theories, you all beat me to the punch by far. Didn't even know the forum existed. Silly me. And yes, he's protecting his brother. Obviously.
And in 1998, Nokia's Startac was already in everybody's hands. You don't believe me? Google it. Besides with Stef's investments in technology, he had access to prototypes for newer models even if they were not for sell yet.

Oh, Wade's dad was abused as a child. Probably by his father too. Is definitely not gay, but his whole psyche is shattered. That's why he's so mean with everybody, including the voters and specially the family. He probably sees himself in Wade and cannot control what he's doing. When Matt finds out, Wade is gonna need a lot of therapy. And I don't think that recreate the scene will help, but he does need to confront his father.
