    Chapter 26

Drew? Where are you? I don’t know why you left us, but we need you. Aria needs you. I-I need you too. Please. Please come back. I never told you— Please, don’t leave me. Drew’s heart ached. Amara sounded broken. His words were slurred, his voice rough and tearful and yet…somehow, he seemed less like a child. Why haven’t you called? Please pick up. Please Drew. Please tell me you’re coming home. Home? Tears sprung to Drew’s eyes. This was torture. His heart yearned, longing for a home that w

    Chapter 25

If you think this was a sad chapter, the next one's even worse But I think you'll like the end

    Chapter 25

I torture my characters enough, it's only fair the readers are tortured a little too. I'll be completely honest with you here, I haven't finished writing the whole story yet, although I know exactly where it's going. I'm writing around other projects and if I post any more regularly we'll get to the end of what I've written and there'll be an even longer wait for more. I'm certain, at the pace I'm writing, that if I continue at one chapter a week, you'll never have to wait for more than a week (unless I forget which I'm not promising I never will, or there are other circumstances that stop me)

    Chapter 25

The next chapter will be a difficult one for Drew, but things will be much clearer by the end of it.

    Chapter 25

Trust me, Mam's not afraid to make her opinions known - to anyone

    Chapter 25

You're very welcome. At the moment, Drew doesn't really have anywhere he fits in, but I'm sure he'll come to realise that home isn't really where you live or where you've lived, it's literally where your heart is and Drew's heart isn't in the valleys anymore. On the other hand, if he gets to see them through new eyes....

    Chapter 25

That is very much true. Whilst it is sometimes necessary to go back to move forward, Drew is never going to stay there. He will move forward and the only question is whether he'll do it with the twins. It's a struggle for him in more ways than one. As we see in this chapter he has more to worry about than just the twins' vulnerability as he has vulnerabilities of his own

    Chapter 25

Nope, Amara isn't going to let go easily Drew's Mam will definitely mother them. I suppose it's a matter of opinion whether it's viewed as smothering 😁

    Chapter 24

Welsh Mams don't beat around the bush. She might end up giving him a clip around the ear if he plays up, though. She'll knock some sense into him. She couldn't be more different than the twins' mother.

    Chapter 25

It had been way too long since Drew had last been home and he wasn’t looking forward to it. It wasn’t his family, he loved them dearly, it was just that since he’d left, returning to the rain-soaked valleys with their rows of stone cottages clinging like misery to the side of the mountain, was something to dread rather than look forward to. It had taken him such a long time to leave them behind, the last thing he wanted was to go back. But he wasn’t going back for good. He’d escaped when many of

    Chapter 24

Absolutely bang-on. I think Drew would still have left because his head is a mess and there was always going to need to be some space before things could move on And yes, Drew has more issues than we know about yet

    Chapter 24

Totally true, but when you entered the army as an impressionable 16 year old it has an effect on the psyche and following orders will be easier than not, especially when Jeff has been reinforcing them and especially when Drew is vulnerable. Don't forget he's still only 24 himself. As for Henley, I'm still convinced his fame and background would have made him someone Drew was at least slightly intimidated by, especially given that he's not actually throwing his weight around.

    Chapter 24

You're absolutely right! It's a complete mess. Drew's mother is awesome. Wait until you meet her. She's cool and she certainly puts Drew straight - kind of To be fair, the entire staff that surround the boys are lovely - very down to earth and kind. We haven't seen the last of them
  19. Nephylim

    Chapter 24

Spot on. Add in that Henley is a worldwide superstar and I'm absolutely certain that in Drew's position I would have run away too
  20. Nephylim

    Chapter 24

Among other things yes, Drew is very much an honourable man, and everything has been happening so fast he hasn't had time to process. He's a man of action not emotion
  21. Nephylim

    Chapter 24

How would you feel if faced with 1. Background of everything that's happened to lead up to this - Drew is bound to feel somewhat responsible for Aria being taken, he's been fighting his attraction for a long time, he's fighting his professional role, he's not convinced the boys are mature enough etc etc 2. He's been in the army since he was 16 and is used to being given orders by men in charge. 3. Henley is a massive worldwide superstar. Think someone like, I don't know (showing my age) the likes of Tom Cruise, Harrison Ford, Sean Connery, in they heyday. Maybe a more up to day comparison might be Brad Pitt, Jason Mamosa, Chris Hemsworth, We might think we can face them down but could we really?
  22. Nephylim

    Chapter 24

So many things wrong Bear in mind that Drew has been taking orders from men in charge since he was 16. He's also already been warned by Jeff and is feeling insecure to begin with. Also Mommy Dearest wasn't challenging his relationship with the boys directly AND Amara hadn't declared his love for Drew until now. He was caught on the back foot by a powerful man giving a direct order.
  23. Nephylim

    Chapter 24

You're welcome. Oh, for sure we'll be hearing more of Ben *evil grin* Henley's not a bad guy. He's just...spoiled I guess. He's from a highly privileged background and is a worldwide superstar. He wasn't ready to be a father and in many ways he still isn't. I think he does his best, but his best simply isn't good enough
  24. Nephylim

    Chapter 24

Oh for sure Henley has underestimated the boys and will continue to do so. Drew underestimates them, too. In fact, I honestly believe that the only person who doesn't underestimate them is Jay (oh and Alice, of course) Ah, Aria. He's certainly lost it. The question is - will he find it.

    Chapter 24
