  1. I'm not sure what to tell you, aside from what others already have. Just love yourself and know that we wish you the best of luck. ~Kay
  2. text editor: haven't done much of that lately, but when I do, it's generally just notepad internet: Internet Explorer Netscape other major bits of software i use pretty much daily: artsy: PSP 9 (Paint Shop Pro) Photoshop writing: Word WordPerfect Wordpad operating system: WinXP which formats do you use for text documents? usually rtf, unless a publisher specifically wants txt or doc
  3. Oh, yes. LOL Personally, I adore those looks. I've always gotten weird looks. Was a Class A "Tomboy" growing up; still am. Gotta love it.
  4. Amen. That's how I got serious about writing, instead of playing EverQuest. LOL Now? I've got work published in several places. I wouldn't go back to my life before writing for anything.
  5. *chuckles* You think this sort of deviation from a topic is bad? LOL You haven't seen some of the totally insane conversations we've had at ERWF. As for the voice in your head... I can understand that. I've always actually admired people who can write fanfic, be it with real or fictional characters. There's only one pairing I've ever considered writing a fanfic about, and they are the heroes from the first two books in Glenna McReynolds medieval (het) romance trilogy. LOL
  6. Very, very true! Although I'm much more visual-oriented than written, but until I can fulfill my dream of starting an all-gay porn company, I'll stick to writing. LOL Also, for people like me who are dealing with gender issues, it can be a form of therapy. Writing it helps me tremendously in that it lets the man inside have his say.
  7. Not naive. LOL Believe it or not, erotic gay fiction is a rapidly-growing genre with female authors/readers. 90% of the authors I know who write it, ARE female. Now, if you want to get technical about things... I am omnigendered. Although I'm physically female, my mind is male. The only female thing about me (aside from legal name) is my body. I don't know if I'd ever go through the rigors of transition to male, simply because the surgeries involved are far from perfect, or even desirable, in some cases. But back to the issue of the genre and its writers... within the female reader/author community, it's generally referred to as 'slash' fiction, the term 'slash' having originated along the lines of the actual mark denoting the pairing (ie. Kirk/Spock; etc...) While most female-written gay erotic fiction is romantic in nature, that is not always the case. I ghostwrite for three gay porn sites, in which I write "first person accounts" using fake male names. There's no romance involved; just 1000-2000 word sex scenes. LOL
  8. Just a note of places to find me: ERWF: http://veinglory.8.forumer.com (iasomie) Queer Writers: http://www.queerwriters.com/ (iasomie) Torquere Press: http://www.torquerepress.net/forums/ (iasomie) Gay Fiction Discussion: http://gayfiction.forumsplace.com/index.html (mychael) (Part of my reasoning for posting this is to keep up with it. LOL I'm one of three admins for ERWF and just started up Gay Fiction Discussion last night.)
  9. Welcome, Julia! I'm sort of a newbie here. LOL I haunt so many forums (and run/help run at least 3 of them), so I tend to lose track every once in a while. You'll love it here. ~Kay
  10. Doh! I'm behind, but happy late birthday!
  11. Oh, Lord. LOL I saw the movie (very awesome, I might add), but this is priceless!
  12. Oh, yes. Hands-on experimentation, analysis. You know...that sort of thing...
  13. Rowr! *grins*
  14. I'd just skim the pages for the good stuff...
  15. Now I'm REALLY curious!
  16. Oh, but such conversations have the potential to draw a reader in! (Well...they would certainly draw ME in...LOL)
  17. Yup, that's the theory I've read in many, many places. One of these days, I might play with the genderless idea... *nods* Some of my vampires are good, while others are evil. And some? Well, they walk a thin line... The only angel I've ever described using a culmination of sources, is the Archangel Michael. Other angels, I simply use my imagination when it comes to looks.
  18. Thank you! I've done that as well. I've also written scenes that I know will occur far ahead in the story, but I haven't gotten to yet. That's the only 'rule' I've run across regarding them as well. Now, you wanna talk angels? *grins* *Most* of my angels are men...and gay. Considering that I work with them on a spiritual and personal level, they've been the easiest of 'paranormal' creatures that I've written, aside from vampires.
  19. *chuckles* I've thoroughly surprised myself a few times by writing full sex scenes that were flash (500 words or less). I'm impressed by those who can pull it off.
  20. Not a thing wrong with that! It's a matter of imagination. As for the incubus/succubus thing... *shrugs* I suppose it really depends on the author, or at the least, who you ask. For me, ALL of my incubi are gay. But instead of going to women in the middle of the night, they feed off of men--whether it's by semen or simply the energy of orgasm itself.
  21. *waves* Thank you!
  22. LOL Thank you! As for writing the sex... My men usually tell me when it's time, although sometimes they want it and it's really not the best time within the plot. I have been known to write sex scenes that I put in later, and also a few "orphan" scenes that never make it into the story. Those are the scenes that I write just to shut the boys up so the story can progress. LOL Then there are the scenes (some sex scenes, some not) that reveal *very* interesting things about your characters that you weren't quite aware of beforehand. I'm talking, *vital* things...like one of them being a were-creature, and another a vampire, and another an incubus. LOL That just happened in the story I'm currently scribbling out. Hrm. Very interesting, but it works wonderfully. LOL
  23. Oh, good. I'm not the only one. *whistles* Heh. I'm the complete opposite when it comes to the writing process. Half the time, I have absolutely NO clue how the story will end. I might know a few tidbits of what *might* happen, but for the most part, I honestly don't know how things will eventually pan out. My characters tend to take on very real personalities and basically run away with the entire plot before I've realized it. But...it certainly makes for interesting situations. LOL And yes, I've been known to argue with my men. Do it quite often, actually; like when they want to get to the sex, but there's that little annoying thing called THE PLOT that has to cramp their styles.
  24. All of my stories play out like movies, so I definitely know what you mean. The first things that come to me are usually the characters, although sometimes it might only be one. Very rarely does a plot come first, but it happens. This latest idea (born about, oh, 20 minutes ago) started with the plot, but considering it's more of a character study, I suppose you could say the character came first. LOL
  25. *chuckles* Hi there! Hopefully I'll be able to upload some stories soon. My Muse is...well..he's annoying the hell out of me lately, to be honest. hrm.
