In Remembrance - 1. To My Dearest

Two winters have passed
Since you last walked through my door,
Smiled and shyly sat at the edge of my bed,
Waiting for me to speak to you.

You wouldn’t know how hard it had been,
To not think about your loving touch,
Or about the time you would sneak up to me,
And whisper in my ear, when I am studying.

Did you know that the day when you left?
I fought with my parents,
So that we could go see CT dance.
It was family day, you know.

Do you still remember that flight when grandma slept off?
And I was really scared.
You asked me if we should jump off the plane.
It was really funny, you know.

The first year had been hard.
We shifted from the city to a different place.
Now I have new friends,
But they are not You.

I do not regret the fights we had,
Because we made up everytime we did fight.
I do not regret,
Because that was what that made us, together.

But, I still cannot think of any reason,
Why you got into that car,
When you already knew I could have picked you up.
That was stupid, you know.

Now, there is only one heartbreak.
That I was not there with you.
Because had I been with you,
We would now have been together, forever.

I was so proud of you seeing you so calm the next day.
You didn’t even flinch while saying goodbye.
But I was so proud of you,
Because you knew life better than anyone else there.

I know how you loved me,
How you cared for me,
And watched out for me,
And I will always love you, for ever.

I've always said, and I've always been told, that writing is therapeutic. I absolutely believe in it.

I probably know the background story of this poem, scratch that, these poems, so I believe I could relate to the emotions better.

I like it that you try to recall those memories in a melancholy and almost light-hearted way. It shows how much you've gone through and grown these two years.

I like it, the poem, you know.
